Gabriel Delmas bio (continued)

@W.carter: thank you, I'll try to get this started anyway. I still have a confusion as to how you replied to my reply though. I can't reply to anything unless I add a new section. Have a good night! Alphaville3467 (talk) 22:04, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

@Alphaville3467: You click on the small [edit] to the right of the heading: "Gabriel Delmas bio (continued)" and this section will open and you can reply. The talk page is also activated now: Draft talk:Gabriel Delmas. I see that you got the 'ping' right. :) Great! And don't start with a blank space, that is why you get the "box" around your post. I'll stay up some ten minutes more to see that you have got all this. w.carter-Talk 22:12, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

@W.carter: I didn't realize the edit source link was where I was supposed to reply....argggh. I thought that was a place to fix source code. Never mind, so embarrassing. Well, I get this. But now I need to get the other thing, the draft. I do hope you don't wait up for me because, unlike with other things, where I am fast, I am not going to be fast with this.... I'm taking a little break first because I've been working on a draft for hours. But I will put some of it up tonight, and you can let me know what you think tomorrow. It's only 5 pm here..... Again, thanks so much! Alphaville3467 (talk) 22:18, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

I have never been called a "cool cat " before but I am 63 and Female. Re: Cal Massey's page

so thanks...

Yes this is confusing. Not the least of which is VERY little WRITTEN about Cal which is why I started the Wikipedia edits to began with.He should have been FAMOUS like Duke Ellington famous. And forget about trying to track down the photographer who took one of the ONLY pictures I have ever seen of him. The people that knew him and or played with him or leaving us so there is some urgency to to all of this.

Radical Jazz Woman (talk) 13:52, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Well Radical Jazz Woman, if you are 63 and female, you are by definition a cool cat.   Since Cal is deceased, there might be another way to include a photo of him in the article that I can help you with. Is this him in the picture at this link?: http://www.allaboutjazz.com/coverart/2008/calmassey1.jpg
I'm a bit buzy at the moment, but I'll be back to help you in a day or so. Keep them blue notes coming, w.carter-Talk 14:05, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
@Radical Jazz Woman: I have started to fix up the article about Cal. I was also able to include the cover of the album I mentioned above, since I'm now convinced that is him on the cover. The picture is presented here under something called fair use criteria which is pages of legalese that I will not bore you with. :) The upshot of it all is that by filling these out, we can have a pic of Cal's album, which is the next best thing. I have also started to look for sources and add things to the article. If I can find a reliable source for the things you wrote, I will put it back into the article. All the best, w.carter-Talk 23:24, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi

Take a look at the article about Hilda Nilsson. Any Help is appreciated. Regards,--BabbaQ (talk) 00:10, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Draft page / copyright question

@W.carter: Hi w.Carter, I've been gathering and just listing my sources on the draft page, just as a url, but now it seems easier and more efficient to actually put the quote or citation I think I may want to use right next to the source listing on my draft page (inside of parentheses). This way when I do drop my draft in here, I'll know at a glance exactly where I want things to go. The thing is, as I gather sources I know some of them will be unusable, for various reasons, but I still need to see them all. So am I allowed to do this without worrying about copyright infringement? Do I need to put a designation indicating that it's quoted material even on my draft page?

I just want to check this with you before I go all the way down my draft like this. I do hope I don't have to worry about any of this as I gather material....one of the reasons I have waited before moving my (offline) draft and other notes over is because I don't want to be slowed down as I write. I'm just not clear about all those warnings, which appear even on my draft page. Thanks so much for your assistance here. Alphaville3467 (talk) 19:50, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

@Alphaville3467: Unfortunately, they are very twitchy about copyrighted material anywhere on the WP. I've seen such material unceremoniously deleted from all sorts of pages including drafts and user pages. You will have to learn how to work on a split screen like many of us do. When I work on things I usually have 4-8 different windows open, overlapping and not full screen, when I work. That way I can see the source on one half of the screen and write on the WP on the other half. Or you will have to do some work offline and then copy paste it here. Just remember to get rid of any formatting before transferring it, otherwise some things will screw up the wiki-code. OR you can have the text on the page while working, just not 'save' the page. (small handy trick) You should also be careful not to use too many or too long quotations in the text, but we'll get to that when we see the text. Happy editing, w.carter-Talk 20:09, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@W.carter: I'm still a bit confused. Can I not use the quoted material at all on the draft page? Is there formatting for it the way there would be for an official wiki page? I do actually have (it's comical) 10 pages open right now...yet I still don't see the advantage of working on my draft on wiki at all if I can't have some way to designate that the material is copyrighted. Oddly, I was working in 'preview' mode for quite some time but then I thought, this is crazy, it's a draft page. How can I assemble material this way? So I guess my question is, how do I do this if I need to see it all on one page? Offline? Alphaville3467 (talk) 20:25, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@Alphaville3467: "... and yet there is method to this madness". I have very little knowledge of exactly how you work. I only know that copyrighted material should not even be kept on a draft page. All pages on the WP fall under the same copyright laws since they are all in the open and browsed by search engines and whatnots online. The draft has not hit the engines yet, but on a quick Google search, your questions at the Teahouse show up. I guess if it is the way you work, you will have to do it offline and transfer the text later to the draft. At least the sources are visible there for assessing the notability. I only hope that we are not misunderstanding each other here somehow, we might be talking about two different things, only using different terms for it. w.carter-Talk 20:42, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@Alphaville3467: When I suggested that you should write your text here directly on the draft page, I had no idea that you needed all the texts you gather material from, in front of you on the same page. I have never come across that method of writing before. I did therefore not take all these complications into consideration. So perhaps it is best for you to write offline after all, and only present the finished product on the draft page. Do as you like as long as you are comfortable with it. Sorry for the inconvenience. w.carter-Talk 21:00, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@W.carter:I did reply but for some reason my response disappeared, but maybe I didn't save it. I think I'll continue to write the bulk of the draft offline but as a workaround for the citation issue, I'll just put a note next to the sources, in my own words. It's not going to be an issue. But I probably do have unorthodox working methods. I'm visual, it's hard for me to remember things unless they are right in front of me. I'm probably not going to use a lot of the material on there, but it helps me to clarify ideas when I can see it all. Anyway, thank you! And you haven't inconvenienced me, I just wanted to make sure I don't violate any rules. Alphaville3467 (talk) 21:39, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@Alphaville3467: No problem, chaqu'un à son gout.   Good luck with the writing and see you later. w.carter-Talk 21:50, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@W.carter: Thanks. By the way, I totally love your "I have never come across that method of writing before." I agree that it's insane. I'm under no illusions about this not being the best working method.....and I'm not going to tell you how, in addition to the 7 windows open, I have voluminous notes, old school notes. On paper.  Alphaville3467 (talk) 22:16, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@Alphaville3467: It sounds very much like my method for bookkeeping that I doing right now on the computer (5 windows open), piles of papers, cluttered desk, books and binders everywhere... (and I'm dodging it all by escaping to the WP from time to time) Nothing is insane as long as the end result is good. w.carter-Talk 22:23, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you for answering my post. I am trying to learn how to communicate with other Wikipedia people. Please answer this message to help me get some practice. Priceobserver (talk) 17:43, 5 December 2015 (UTC)

@Priceobserver: Your wish is my command. :) w.carter-Talk 17:53, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
@W.carter: Thank you for the quick response. What's the etiquette for getting permission to make changes on a semi-restricted page? The page I am thinking of is J. S. Bach.
@Priceobserver: Technically there is noting stopping you from editing that page yourself since you are now autoconfirmed, just be very, very sure you have good grounds and can add very good sources for your edits. The page has 566 editors watching it and it is viewed about 2500 times a day, so a potential screw-up would be noted instantly. You might consider posting suggestions on the talk page first if you are to make any great changes. Also, please remember to sign your posts with the four ~~~~. That must be done every time for the time-stamp. w.carter-Talk 21:55, 5 December 2015 (UTC)
@W.carter: The changes I made were very minor. And I'm not surprised by the stats -- I think it's a great article! What does it mean to be "autoconfirmed?" --Priceobserver (talk) 02:04, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@Priceobserver: I have check your edits and they are perfectly fine. :) You are cautious and respectful of other editors' work, that is something that is much appreciated here. Autoconfirmed is something you get after having been here for more than four days and made more than ten edits. This limit is set to keep one-time, drive-by editors from making not so well thought out edits at 2 AM on Saturday nights after a six-pack of beer, on some major or controversial articles. You can read all about it at: WP:AUTOCONFIRM.
If you want to see how "hot" an article is, you can see the statistics by first clicking on the "View History" tab at the top of the article. After that you have "Number of watchers" and "Page view statistics" about 7-8 lines down on the new page. Click on those and all will be revealed.
Also, if you plan to stick around and continue in the good way you've started, I suggest you create your own user page by clicking on your red name (Priceobserver), write something ("Hi!" is sufficient) and hit save. Your name will then turn from newbie-red to editor-blue. Take a look at what other user pages look like if you want to develop it further. Or read Wikipedia:User pages and Wikipedia:User page design center.
You are always welcome here on my talk page if there is anything you wonder or need help with.   Cheers, w.carter-Talk 10:11, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello Ochilov, it is good to hear from you again!   Of course I remember you, how are you? You seem to be doing well over at Meta-Wiki and travelling around the world. Good job! w.carter-Talk 12:52, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, thanks, I am fine. Actually, I am going to get adminship in Esperanto Wikipedia right on Sunday or Monday and then apply to Russian Wikipedia and Meta adminship :D I am now here to translate some my articles (~30) to English xD --Ochilov (talk) 12:56, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
@Ochilov: Well, congratulations!! That sounds marvelous. Just give me a 'ping' if you want me to check the language in the articles after you have done the translation. As you can probably tell by my talk page I'm doing a lot of that lately. Otherwise, I have just been to the library to get some books for my next GA nomination. I also intend to try to make it my first FA later, so a lot of research is required. Stay in touch, w.carter-Talk 13:04, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Sure, thank you! I also have written my first GA in November (in Esperanto), and three of my articles are now in a process of getting that status in eowiki :D And, in April 2016 will be WMCON in Berlin, are you going to come? I got scholarship because I founded User Group in Uzbekistan. Wish to meet you there :) --Ochilov (talk) 13:13, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

A new article about endoscopy

Hello W.carter, just a minute ago I started a new article. I have to translat the text and if I ready I inform you again. Now the text is in German on my user space and the first phrases are translated. Please don't not translate the text yet - I like to try it and later learn from your editing. Best regards.--Maxim Pouska (talk) 16:02, 10 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello Maxim Pouska, good to see you again! At first I thought the article was about "normal" endoscopes as in the Endoscopy, <shudder> (met those, been there, done that, got the t-shirt... not pleasant...)! Nevertheless I'm glad I don't have to translate it, I will leave it all up to you. :D Please let me know when you want me to take the first look at it. Good luck with the translation! Cheers, w.carter-Talk 16:26, 10 December 2015 (UTC)

Here is a glass for you! :)
Hello W.carter the text is translated - 34 references are inserted (not all perfect in html code, maybe). Ok - I don't like <shudder> too. Best regards. PS now I need some red wine.--Maxim Pouska (talk) 22:22, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
@Maxim Pouska: Well done! I will take a quick first look at it soon, I have another thing to finish first. Relax for now. :) w.carter-Talk 22:34, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

New Article.

Dear W.carter,

The article, which we discussed before is in my Sandbox. All photos, related to the article Wolves of Chabrières, are already in Commons, as you recommended. Also I placed these photos on my page.

I tried my best with the text and, following your advise, took brilliantly arranged article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parc_Zoologique_et_Botanique_de_Mulhouse#History as an example, and built my own accordingly. But I realize, that the content may not be completely of an encyclopedic style and need to be observed by knowledgeable and experienced Wikipedian, so all my hope — is your kind help. Also I’m not sure completely on some aspects of the article, for example: whether it is reasonable to describe wolves behaviour in the article, which is actually about the reserve? Of course, it is connected in some ways to the subject and contains useful and fascinating facts about the wolves, but will such description be quite in place in this particular article?

Best regards, Chris Oxford. Chris Oxford (talk) 12:31, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello Chris Oxford, this seems like a very promising start of the article. Well done! Now that the text is in place, I will "wikify" it by adding the wiki-code needed for everything to resemble a real article. I will leave you some comments about the draft at the sandbox talk page where the discussion about the article can be kept intact. I will notify you when I'm done. Of course you can include studies of the wolves' behavior if that is studied at the park. It can be in a subsection. Many articles have subsections about things related to the main subject (if those are not written about in length in other articles) that may be of interest to the reader. For example, look at this article where I have included "extra material" related to the find. And in this article, there is a short description of the reserve plus a tag to the major article. Best, w.carter-Talk 14:06, 6 December 2015 (UTC)
@Chris Oxford: The first stage of fixing is now done. Take a good look at it and read my comments on the sandbox talk page. Cheers, w.carter-Talk 15:15, 6 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear W.carter,

I can not express how glad I was, that you liked the way the article was started. It is not easy to ensure, that the article meets all the criteria and is written to a high standard, and without your guidance it would be simply impossible. For me personally, to write an article is absolutely amazing thing - it's like to share the information about something, what I'm very interested in and admire, with friends, but only on a much larger scale, and of course, I want this article to look completely professionally when done. On the coming Saturday, I'll be working on it, carefully following your instructions to report the result in the evening. As you mentioned, the article should be entitled, in accordance with the content; I really wanted to write only about wolves because I consider them, as well as the Shepherds, the remarkable beings. So, if this article is only about wolves and goes under the title Wolves of Chabrières, then do I have to completely eliminate even the mention of the other kinds of animals, living in the Park? I thank you very much for the great work on my article, that you kindly have already done and on Saturday I'll also read with pleasure and without disturbance your articles.

Best regards, Chris Oxford Chris Oxford (talk) 16:02, 7 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello Chris Oxford. As I said, it is a good start but it still needs a lot of work. The first thing is references. Everything you write in the article must be supported by sources and presented as notes at the end of a sentence or section. Those are called references. Right now it looks like much of what is in the article is based on your knowledge of wolves and your experience of the park. That is not how the Wikipedia works. You must be able to show where you found the facts. You need to find more sources and present those in the article. As it is now, the article only stands about 50% chance of being accepted. It would be great if you could improve those odds.
I would strongly recommend that you write the article about the park itself and include all the animals within it in sections and subsections. If you were to write about just the wolves of the park, you would need to find reliable sources for just those. Are there books, scientific journals, newspaper articles, independent websites or magazine articles written about these wolves in particular? That is what is necessary for a stand-alone article about the wolves. The questions that would be asked are: What makes these wolves so special? What sets this park apart from other zoos with wolves? What scientific breakthroughs have been made in the studies of these wolves? And so on. It would be very hard to get such an article accepted. If you should find sufficient material about these wolves, you can always split off an article about the wolves later once the first article has been accepted.
The article should only be about such wolf behavior that is specific to the park or connected to the park's studies and activities. General wolf behavior should go into the article about wolves, Gray wolf. That article is classified as a Good Article so you must have very good sources before adding something there. Most of the facts about wolves are already in that article, so it must be something new if you want to add it.
The draft also needs to be copy edited, but that can be done later. There are minor things in the language that needs to be corrected and some sentences should be "condensed". Like many new editors you are very fond of capital letters, those are used very sparingly in articles here. Is English your native language?
I see that you have started to upload your pictures at the Commons. Very good! Now you don't have to have them moved there. The map. File:Wolf Park map.jpg, did you make that yourself or did you scan it from a brochure and enhance it or something similar?
That is all for now. Looking forward to seeing the article after your job on it during the weekend. Best, w.carter-Talk 21:14, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear W.carter,

Thank you very much for your reply. First of all, after the visit to my sandbox, I decided to leave this article exactly the way you set it up, because it is absolutely brilliant. I think, that you are right in regards of the content of the article and it's title: it should be The Animal Park of the Monts de Gueret—The Wolves of Chabrières, because, in the first place, the text is already perfectly done, and also because, as you correctly noted, it should be very difficult to obtain the information about differences of the wolves of Chabrieres from other wolves. Now about references - I got all the information, which I used in this article, from the several websites, links to which I provided:

http://www.loups-chabrieres.com/

http://www.tourismelimousin.com/en/Triptyque-homepage2/Landing/Family-fun-in-Limousin/The-Chabrieres-Wolf-Park

http://wolfpark.org/

http://westernwildlife.org/gray-wolf-outreach-project/biology-behavior-4/

http://www.livescience.com/39093-wolf-howls-keep-in-touch.html

- now they are in Sources; so can they be used as references?

Some of these materials, I presume, were in French only, but I have no difficulties to translate it. And, yes, English is not my native language.

About the map - this is totally and completely my own original work. Right now I will continue placing the photos into the sections of the article - just trying to find the way to make them a little bit smaller, as I would like to use all 9 photos, which I prepaired. Hope, that today I will fulfil this task. Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 13:00, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi Chris Oxford, I have very little time right now, so I will be brief and get back to you later. Yes, the sources should be converted to references as soon as possible. :) I hope you've read the help pages I referred you to. I will get back and check on how you are doing when inserting them and correct if necessary. Look in the links I left you earlier how to insert translations into the refs. Regarding how to handle pictures, here are two very useful guides for you: User:Yunshui/Images for beginners and Wikipedia:Picture tutorial. Nine pics is far too many for such a small article. Please limit them to four. The rest will be accessed through a link to the Commons category for the park. There should always be a good balance between the size of the text and number of pics. This is a written encyclopedia not a picture book. Very good job on the map! It was so good I first suspected it had been copied from a professional site. :) Until later, w.carter-Talk 13:29, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

Arbitrary break for a new section

Dear W.carter, So, all four photos and a map (good to hear, that it is done nicely) are in place, and the section Sources is converted to References. Also I excluded section 'See also', as there is nothing else really to see on this subject. I already read some of your interesting articles, including splendid one, titled Stockholm Palace. Regards, Chris OxfordChris Oxford (talk) 14:34, 12 December 2015 (UTC)

@Chris Oxford: No, you did not convert the Sources into References, you simply altered the heading of a section. Fixing the ref is not as easy as that. If you had read the pages I recommended for you, you would have seen that. So please read User:Yunshui/References for beginners and Help:Referencing for beginners and watch the video on the latter. When you read all the articles you must have noticed all the little numbers inside bracket looking something like this → [3] but in blue. Those are the references or inline citations as they are also called. That is how you show where you have found the facts in text. Just listing a bunch of sources at the end of the article is not acceptable here. To do this you need to use a code. That code is described in the links above. Once the code is inserted, another code will automatically list the refs in the "References" section. I will do a couple of them for you, just to get you started so you can see how it's done.
How the articles should look is described in a set of rules and regulations called Manual of Style or MOS. It is a very long text and you can not possibly know the things in it yet. There are some things in the article (besides the refs) that needs to be fixed to conform with MOS. I will do that for you and leave comments about what I have done in the edit summaries. You will see those if you click on the "View history" tab almost at the top of the page. Do not be offended that I mess about with your text, it is only to make it more "wiki".
I will also do some copy editing of the text to make it more encyclopedic. I'll let you know when I'm done, it's rather late here now so I might continue tomorrow. Cheers, w.carter-Talk 22:44, 12 December 2015 (UTC)
@Chris Oxford: I have done some copy editing of the article. It wasn't too bad,  , but some things had to be corrected from an encyclopedic point of view. One is to not repeat the name of the park every time, that is tiring for readers. Also avoid words that have some subjective value. Such words are called peacock words here. These are words that depend on your point of view. For example: writing that the enclosures were "vast" or "huge" may be true in central Europe, but compared to Swedish parks they are relatively small and everything is dwarfed by the American parks. So, just the facts = the area, and let the readers form their own opinion. I will wait until you have finished fixing the refs before taking you through the next step. Dear W.carter, I worked this week on the references every free minute (it was not many of them during this week), but now I believe, I completed this job, and also I made the correction with the map - now the right version is in the article. I will be glad to hear, what do you think about this work. Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 13:06, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

@Chris Oxford: Hi! I see that you have now used most of the sources as references. Well done! I have removed those from the "Sources" section. However, there are still two sources left to convert into references. Please do that. You also need to find more sources, other than the park's own website, that speak of the park and the wolves there, if the article is to be accepted. This is called the notability criteria, you need to show that other sources that the park itself say that the park is noteworthy, that is how the Wikipedia works. You can read about it in Wikipedia:Notability. Look for newspaper articles, books or websites and add them as references in the article. w.carter-Talk 13:45, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear W.carter, Thank you very much for your reply. Now I can see clear all the mistakes I have made, and will now try to correct them and to find all the reliable sources until late evening. Hope to be back to you 9.00-9.30 this evening. Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 13:56, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear W.carter, I am coming back precisely as I planned. I think, that I advanced with this work a little bit further, at least I hope, that I did. When I had a look at the map, I was really surprised when I saw, that the picture still remained the same - I was sure that I updated the file, so I did it again and checked twice - now there is a right version for sure. Looking forward to know your opinion about the latest version of the article. Regards, Chris OxfordChris Oxford (talk) 21:10, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

@Chris Oxford: Now it is really moving forward! It's beginning to look like a real article!   Glad you understood about the need to find outside sources. I have corrected some of the refs since you must leave the correct title (the whole title) in them, and if there is a writer for the ref or a date, that also needs to me included. I also used one of the refs to provide the number of visitors to the park. I've found some more sources that should be used and I will include them and in some cases the facts from them in the article. I hope you don't mind. :) Cheers, w.carter-Talk 21:19, 19 December 2015 (UTC)
@Chris Oxford: Oh, and about the map picture: If you upload a new version it will take a while for the new pic to go through the system. And after that you need to refresh your cache on the computer to see the new one. w.carter-Talk 21:21, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Article now moved to draft

@Chris Oxford: The article is really taking shape. I have added the refs I had found, among them some TV-stations/programs, a radio station and some papers. These are worth gold when you want an article to pass. I have move the article from your sandbox, which is now clean and ready for a new article, to something called a "Draft". The new address for it is: Draft:Animal Park of the Monts de Gueret. Please take a look at it all and see if there are any changes you would like to do.

Now you have two options: You could ask editors at the Teahouse to take a look and see if they have any comments or you could submit it for review. You do that by placing the code {{submit}} at the top of the page of the draft. Cheers, w.carter-Talk 23:17, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear W.carter I just saw the article in the draft - it's just brilliant, it can't be done better. I think, it is ready to be submitted as is, as it is totally perfect. So, where exactly do I put {{submit}}? Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 23:47, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

@Chris Oxford: You put it at the very top of the draft page. You replace the text I have written there: "Replace this text with the submit-text". Good luck! w.carter-Talk 23:57, 19 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear W.carter, This morning I submitted the article, following your instruction. I would like to thank you for the great help, which you provided during all process of the creation of the article. I know, that only a person of good nature and a great sense of humour could keep cool, watching mountains of mistakes, appearing every time I approached the computer to continue with the article. Now we will see how the judges will evaluate the result, but, personally I think, that this article contains a wealth of valuable and interesting information, greatly enriched by you, and arranged, thanks to you, in the most excellent way. Great thanks again. Will be it touch. Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 10:46, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

Dear W.carter, It was really incredible to open a page and to see the article in flesh in Wikipedia. Just amazing. And thank you so much for Choco-Nut Bake; it tastes really sweet and I want to share it with you, as if would be unfair, if I'll enjoy this delicious dessert alone, while you deserve it even more, as your contribution is much greater, than mine.   Great thanks. Soon I'll be back. Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 22:27, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Dear W.carter,

Moved to User:W.carter/things I have received

I tried to align the comments under the map, and found myself completely puzzled, as this task demanded more detailed instruction, than I could find. It is excellent, that you provided the hint how to do it and even did it yourself before me. Thank you very much. At this stage the article looks fine and as complete as only possible. So, now I have Chrismas surprise for you - the nice Star, and I wish you Merry Christmas and very Happy New Year! Great thanks again. Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 14:29, 24 December 2015 (UTC)

Thank you so very much Chris Oxford   That is very kind of you. Rather than dumping a whole lot of instruction pages on the new editors I help, I keep an eye on what they are doing. Should they find a solution on their own, that is perfect, but should I find them standing there scratching their head, I'll drop a hint on how it is done so they know what to do the next time. That is how I learned and I find it a good and peaceful way of helping. Wishing you a very pleasant holiday as well. Cheers, w.carter-Talk 14:37, 24 December 2015 (UTC)
 Happy Yuletide!

Merry Yuletide to you! (And a happy new year!)

And in case you need a bit of a pick-up after a long night even though it's Jul:

Hello W.carter:

Did you know ... that back in 1885, Wikipedia editors wrote Good Articles with axes, hammers and chisels?

Thank you for your contributions to this encyclopedia using 21st century technology. I hope you don't get any unnecessary blisters.

Hi W.carter

Hi W.carter, I thank-you for pointing out my mistake I have made. I didn't realize that once text is on someone else's page, even if it is my own text I am still not allowed to edit or remove it like I did I the case of talk:Lukaslt13.Thanks Again. --Mr.Luther34-- 20:54, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

@Mr.Luther34: No problem! We all live and learn.   It's a courtesy thing to respect others pages and also so that following posts are not taken out of context. Small insignificant things like typos or wrong word (heaven knows I've made a lot of those!) can be removed, but if you want to strike something you've written earlier, the best way is to use the <del> </del> code. It works like this: Look in the editing window and you will see how it works. Cheers, w.carter-Talk 21:08, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
(talk page stalker) There's a shorter way to do it. <s> </s> Oh no there isn't (given that it's pantomime season).  Philg88 talk 16:48, 23 December 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the tip! Duly noted. Pantomime season??? Ah yes, you Brits and your strange customs. Says the Swede...   w.carter-Talk 17:35, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Some Information

Hello W.carter, I was looking for information about [Karl Storz]. I write about him the next article. And so I found this man: Ejnar, Eriksson.[1] - Maybe you or some other like to write an article. See also [2]- all the best for new year.--Maxim Pouska (talk) 14:29, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

Hello Maxim, I wish you a very happy new year too. Thanks for the offer, but there are two things I have very little knowledge of or interest in, sports and medicine, so someone else will have to write that article. ;) Cheers, w.carter-Talk 16:10, 31 December 2015 (UTC)

If you want to, please take a look at the article Jonas Åkerlund (politician) that I have created. Any help is appreciated.--BabbaQ (talk) 17:33, 12 January 2016 (UTC)
