Recent poster edits

Hello there. The Gravity poster you uploaded was released before the one you replaced, and shows only George Clooney who has much less screen time than sandra bullock. The poster that you presume to be the newest is not always the one to use, especially when it comes to "character posters." The UK Diana poster you have replaced with a US poster. Please remember it is a British film. The Walter Mitty version is also an older copy, and mentioning the word "Christmas" is not a valid reason to replace a poster. Please do not uploadposters ijust for the sake of it. The Sacro Gra and Escape Plan edits were correct. Thank you. 82.132.212.222 (talk) 21:38, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

DYK for Boss (2013 Hindi film)

Question for administrator

I am looking for the urgent protection of the article Boss (2013 Hindi film). I could have used RPP but the article is a DYK appearant right now and is a new film which released today with good buzz around it and figures. If one goes through the article history then one would understand the urgency of the request and its necessity. An expiry time of indefinite is requested.

--Sohambanerjee1998 08:17, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a week. Then it will no longer be on DYK and the release fuss will be over. Go back to WP:RFPP if more trouble then. JohnCD (talk) 11:54, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
JohnCD, thanks but you forgot to put the padlock top-icon. About the release fuss, I doubt it will be over within a week as the film opened strongly and has chances of collecting good moolah so going by that there are bleak chances that it will have its buzz in Wikipedia for only one week. Then again as you said if any problem arises I would definitely go to WP:RPP. Sohambanerjee1998 12:07, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
  Done. There used to be a bot that did that, but some of the bots seem to be taking a holiday. JohnCD (talk) 13:27, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
Yeah  ... I think this bad habbit of theirs has developed due to prolonged exposure to humans :) or they might be preparing to take over the world along with ATM banks! --Sohambanerjee1998 13:35, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Could you give me a link to the version of Special 26 that was alleged to have copyvios? I'll take a look and may be able to clear up any misunderstanding. Cheers, --Stfg (talk) 10:40, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

@Stfg:, its the current version. Its here - Special 26#Critical reception. Sohambanerjee1998 11:06, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Oh, OK. I've had a look. It might be called a bit of a WP:QUOTEFARM, but I see no copyvio there. I couldn't find User:Betty Logan's comment at WP:FILM or at WT:FILM, nor through her contributions. Has it been archived? Would you be able to point me to it? Meanwhile, I've copy edited the first paragraph, for reasons given in the edit summary. Regards, --Stfg (talk) 11:54, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
@Stfg:, User_talk:Betty_Logan#Thanks_for_reviewing_Special_Chabbis and Wikipedia:WikiProject_Film/Assessment#Requests_for_assessment. Sohambanerjee1998 06:27, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks. I've put a comment on the request for assessment, where others will see it too. It's most important to be careful with copyvio, because it's a serious accusation and some things that look like copyvio actually aren't. The procedures at WP:Cv101 are simple, and the copyvio investigation team, although backlogged, are extremely skilful at getting at the truth.
While, I'm here, there is another thing about that section. Do you see how it struggles to find different words for say? In this paragraph we have: said, wrote, summarised, stating, saying, adding, said, and stating. You wouldn't try to have a different alternative for "the" in each paragraph, would you? That's because "the" is a neutral word -- you can use it as often as you need to. Well, "say" is also very nearly a neutral word, provided you use it consistently. Some of those other words look very awkward and reveal the writer's struggles. If you avoid too many direct quotes, it's easier to avoid that awkwardness, and at the same time to prune out such nonsense as "Catch it for pure cinematic orgasm" :-/ You can just say (for example) that many critics liked the screenplay (or whatever it is that they especially liked), and give half a dozen citations for that claim. Cheers, --Stfg (talk) 10:47, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks, I always try to that. For eg. - This article & Boss (2013 Hindi film). Sohambanerjee1998 11:03, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
@Stfg: you see I have written the critical reception parts of the above mentioned articles. Sohambanerjee1998 11:07, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

() Ahh, I've just looked again at Boss (2013 Hindi film) and realised that there's a big problem there. It has two "Critical reception" sections, one for the soundtrack (4.1 in the TOC, which I haven't checked at the moment) and another lower down (item 8 in the TOC, which I have). Look at this diff of the lower one: the first paragraph contained a direct quote from its source, but it was not quoted. That isn't allowed -- if you use someone else's words they have to be in quotes. But whoever wrote it may not have understood what is allowed and what isn't. All we have to do to make it allowable is to put the quote in quote marks, which I've done, but in this case I've also removed most of "If you savor and relish old-school masaledaar entertainers, BOSS is sure to win you over. Watch this one -- it's a paisa vasool entertainer!", because that's just enthusiasm, rather than information needed in an encyclopedia. I do think the rest of that section probably needs similar treatment, perhaps rather urgently. --Stfg (talk) 11:56, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes there are two, I have changed one (the soundtrack, which I have written) and the other one is written by some other fan boy I guess. Sohambanerjee1998 12:02, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

@Stfg:, the Critical reception section needs urgent rewriting but since you have no experience writing Critical reception for Bollywood films I'll write them but as I keep saying, I have very little time. It will take a long time but I will complete it since I have mentioned my wish to take it to a  . Will you check it for mistakes, while I am on the topic will you check this Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! also and list the areas in which it lacks here? Sohambanerjee1998 12:11, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Sure, I'll have a look when you've edited it. Just ping me when it's ready. I see you've done the urgent thing and put quotes round the other quotations at Boss. That's enough to make it non-urgent. I took a very quick look at Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara! and its talk page. I think Betty Logan's advice there on how to write such a section is the best I've ever seen. I can't really add or subtract anything. I did notice some writing flaws, such as calling a critic "noted", which is a peacock word, but you've already placed a GOCE Request for the article, and a decent copy editor will certainly pick up on such things. Cheers, --Stfg (talk) 12:54, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
@Stfg: Actually to be true I am also waiting for the film to complete its theatrical run as I want to add large chunks together when I have loads of info rather than make small edits to increase edit count. For Betty Logan's advice I consulted her just for that only. Yes a GOCE would pick those minor things up I guess and do you think the article's is ready for a   ? Sohambanerjee1998 13:17, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
I don't want to take a view on that. I got interested in the specific issue after you reverted me, but in general I avoid popular culture articles. Sorry. --Stfg (talk) 13:22, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Anyway thanks for discussing. Sohambanerjee1998 13:25, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Boss

I saw CE right after its release. If everything goes well, I'll watch Boss today, I am fan of K. D. Pathak, excited to watch him. And about that Dobaraa!, I have not got time to reply to the latest talk page messages still. --TitoDutta 05:59, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Titodutta, if you do watch Boss please write its plot section or give me the points I'll write it or better for the films collection don't write. Sohambanerjee1998 06:26, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
  • You may find story line in film reviews. I have finished watching first 15 mins of the film. Neither Akshay Kumar nor Ronit Roy has appeared still. --TitoDutta 07:10, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Titodutta, Akshay Kumar appears after half an hour with narration by Big B. Sohambanerjee1998 07:12, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Have you already watched it? Ronit Roy has just appeared, 17 mins 2 seconds of the film. Actually I am going to watch few more films such as Besharam, Phata Poster Nikla Hero, War Chor na Yar and few more. TitoDutta 07:14, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict) No I haven't, BTW where are you watching it? I doubt it might be pirated, torrentz? Sohambanerjee1998 07:15, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
You might want to give Besharam and Phata Poster Nikhla Hero a miss as the former is filled with innuendos and other things and the latter is a cheap masala film with Shahid's nautaki, I watched PPNH this puja. Looking forward to watching WCNY. Sohambanerjee1998 07:18, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
  • No narration by Big B, intro was given by Mithun Da 29 mins 02 sec's entry. --07:35, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Even no voice or credit of Big B? Where are you watching? Sohambanerjee1998 08:25, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Rupkatha Noy

Can you keep this article in your watchlist Rupkatha Noy? TitoDutta 14:45, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
