- As I mentioned on the article's talk page earlier, सिंह is not necessarily read as "Sinh". The anusvara is pronounced in a variety of ways. For e.g., the anusvara in गंगा (Ganga) doesn't denote the sound /n/ (IPA); it denotes the velar nasal sound (IPA /ŋ/). Similarly, "n" in doesn't necessarily mean the sound of "n" -- it may also denote the velar nasal sound (IPA /ŋ/) or the sound /m/ (the original Sanskrit sound). There are several such words in Indian languages, which are pronounced differently. For example, some people pronounce अहिंसा as "Ahinsa", while some others pronounced it as "Ahimsa". utcursch | talk 09:05, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi can you also provide me with reference or source from were this paragraph in Singh article ben has been taken Earlier, a common practice among the Rajput men was to have Singh as their middle name, while Rajput women had the middle name of Kumari. However, many Rajput women have Singh in their name as well. Several times during history due to various reasons Rajputs have migrated out of Rajputana their native region; many of those that got settled in other parts of India have since come to use Singh as their last name even though they belong to separate Rajput gotras and clans, this happened over several generations due to the local population preferring to popularly calling them just Singh in the new places they settled outside Rajputana

I must bring to your attention that several verifiable sources were cited for various statements made in my edits. I must also note that only one reference was cited for the content of the page before my edits. I was providing factual statements about the school whereas claims for example that there are many programs for all students are puffed up lies designed like some sort of marketing pamphlet. As a student of the school and resident, I am the source for a number of the other statements of fact. Wikitable and Mélange styles
On the Vale (mining company) article you changed the tables style to Wikitable. I just think the Mélange style looks better, could you allow me to change it back?

- I'm not aware of any "Mélange" style; the table didn't have any style earlier -- the color values were hardcoded (which is not a good idea, since colors that look nice in one skin may look ugly in another skin). "wikitable" is the standard MediaWiki style, and it is rendered into different colors for different skins. You are requested to do something about the article Banda Bahadur.As you must be already aware, you made a contribution to it, there is an edit-war going in that article, though substancially few users are involved(At the most three).The cause is ancestory of Banda Bahadur.There is no certainity about his ancestory, even-though the general held belief is that he was a rajput.But certain users are presenting him in a certain way , which would not be favourable with his life mission.As you must know Sikhism rejects caste system, and as such no earlier Sikh was using it.This phenomena has arisen, though at a large scale in sikhs, only recently.All Sikh history books on Banda Bahadur mention his ancestory, though different from each other, but his caste is never used with his name, whatever his caste is presented to be.He is written as Gurbaksh Singh only.His caste is used to trace his origin, and not to differentiate him.

I have nothing againest Sukhdev Minhas, it was the reference to Banda as Sikh Rajput.He was a Sikh.His caste(Whatever the claims are) should be mentioned in his early life.It was the racist tone of referring him as Sikh Rajput which was not acceptable.Ajjay (talk) 13:25, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

- There was no custom of not mentioning the names of the mothers of the mughal princes. Humayun, Akbar's mother's names are well known and well recorded. And so are the names of Shahjahan and Dara SHikoh etc. Only exception was Maankunwar and that was deliberate. I have deleted the mosque reference from bio and moved it to the lead as it is relevant that she did not remain a hindu after marriage. In fact she was entombed and not cremated. If she had remained a hindu and all talks of her remaining a hindu are true she would have burnt on a pyre

Hi, according to prominent BBC International journalist, Mark Tully, he did actually describe Bhindranwale as 'not being particularly intelligent' he was also viewed by the legal establishment at an international level as a religious fundamentalist and terrorist, similar to Osama Bin Laden, in fact Professor Jurgensmeyer makes the direct comparison in his thesis at California University.
According to Sandeep Singh Bajwa, the administrator of Sikh-History.com, who personally knew him, described him as 'anti-soical' and 'hyperactive' personality with bad temperament which would fit the personality profile of a terrorist mentality.

WHY

Marathi Language (wriiten script)is very similar to Hindi language, and during Chatrapati Shivaji's rule they have been very particular about using correct Sanskrit prononunciation for all the words used...And in marathi language Singh is still written and pronounced as सिंह (Sinh) e.g Husband of current India President Mr. Devi Sinh Shekhwat(he is a Rajput)...and this proof that it the same in Hindi language सिंह (Sinh)....were is the use of anusvara here....most of the word which are common in Marathi and Hindi the pronouciation and written form is same....what are your comments on this.

- I don't get your point. What are you trying to prove by giving an example? I can provide you hundreds of examples of Rajputs who write their name as "सिंह", and pronounce it as "Singh". Anusvara is pronounced in different ways. Sinh/Sinha is one of them. So, if you find one person who writes his/her name as "Sinha" in English, doesn't mean that evey Rajput pronunces सिंह as "Sinh". utcursch | talk 07:33, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh yes you can suerly give me hundred examples of Rajputs writtinhing it as "सिंह" and pronouncing it as Singh.....but the point iam making here is that in Marathi language it is written as "सिंह" and pronounced as SINH which is the correct Sanskrit pronunciations an also in Hindi...... even for Rajputs its is the same but over centuries it had changed because of influence of punjabi language & Sikhs pronounciation as SINGH and not because of any Anusvara which you are saying here...anyways you are Admin and you are going to have your way.... Hi. Could you see Image:Bradycrop.JPG? You had deleted it some time ago and left an OTRS ticket ID #2007073010012137. The image is also at Image:TBrady2.jpg. The source website claims that the photo was taken by Senator Ted Kennedy at an official government function. I'm not convinced either way whether or not it is copyrightable. This image has been moved to Commons:Image:Bradycrop.JPG so if there is something about it that needs to be deleted, the Commons one needs to be taken care of too. My request for bureaucratship
Dear Utkarsh, thank you for taking part in my RfB. As you may know, it was not passed by bureaucrats.
I would, however, like to thank you for taking the time to voice your support, despite concerns cited by the opposition. Although RfA/B isn't really about a person, but more about the community, I was deeply touched and honoured by the outpouring of support and interest in the discussion. I can only hope that you don't feel your opinion was not considered enough - bureaucrats have to give everyone's thoughts weight.
I also hope that the results of this RfB lead to some change in the way we approach RfBs, and some thought about whether long-entrenched standards are a good thing in our growing and increasingly heterogenous community.
I was a little miserable after the results came out, so I'm going to spread the love via dancing hippos. As you do. :)
