Help

Please tell us what help you need.--SPhilbrick(Talk) 17:11, 13 January 2013 (UTC) How to edit templates?

That's a rather wide field, but Help:Template gives an introduction to templates. Please be careful when editing widely-used templates; it's easy to break quite a few articles at once with a single mistake. You may want to use the template sandbox to experiment. Maybe we could offer more specific help if you explain what template you want to edit, and in what way? Huon (talk) 17:24, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
I want to edit Filmfare Award template as I had just created 58th edition for 2013.The Awards Specialist (talk) 17:39, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
I'm apparently a little slow in replying, but you seem to have managed on your own. This edit did it, I believe. Thanks! Huon (talk) 18:53, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
I'm trying by reading all above links. The Awards Specialist (talk) 19:01, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Why my name is Red and everyone's is blue? The Awards Specialist (talk) 19:38, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
Because your user page doesn't exist yet. Links in square brackets are to pages here. If there is a page like User:Peridon which is [[User:Peridon]] in the edit window, it comes up blue. When you get stuff on your user page, the link will be blue. Or purple if you've clicked on it. Peridon (talk) 20:26, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Poll Awards

Poll based awards like the Ghanta, Kela, Hindustan Times and TOI were added based on consensus. Do not delete them again from any page. Erasing content like that which has an established consensus is considered vandalism. Ashermadan (talk) 11:34, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

I'm not against awards like Razzies. But, if polls were awards, then Titanic must have 100 award pages the film was voted #1 film and other categories in every poll of 1997. Rest is your call, by the way critics and lifetime nods for Yash Chopra and khan were false, were they don't promote vandalism?.The Awards Specialist (talk) 11:45, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
I fought against all this BS too. I had a huge argument with like 4 editors. Any award that has public voting is wrong. Kela, Ghanta, TOI, Zee Popular, Colors Popular, Lifetime, even Apsara Hindustan Times all have public voting and shouldn't be included. But no one listened to me. They want all these BS public voting junk awards to be included because they were "mentioned in newspapers". I only added back the TOI poll. The others were removed. Ashermadan (talk) 11:58, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
We can't pick and choose unfortunately. If its RS like a reputed newspaper we have to include it because they give out actual trophies. Ashermadan (talk) 11:59, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
What about Lifetime Achievement? Come on, the lifetime achievement is given to a person and that too not for a film. The Awards Specialist (talk) 12:04, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
Oh sorry, I forgot up remove it. I'll fix it right now. Ashermadan (talk) 12:05, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
OkkThe Awards Specialist (talk) 12:12, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
Are polls are awards, The above user is telling me not to edit this. The Awards Specialist (talk) 12:10, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
The lifetime award has been removed as its for a career and not one film. Poll based awards are mentioned like the Ghantas, Kelas, TOI, HT, Colors Online Poll and Zee Online Poll because they're talked about in the media. As long as the awards are discussed or belong to a reliable source as per Wiki guidelines, they will be included. It doesn't matter if the award is poll based like the Kelas but if it's discussed heavily in a reliable source then it should be included. Does that help? Ashermadan (talk) 12:16, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
For more information as to why poll awards like like the Ghantas, Kelas, TOI, HT, Colors Online Poll and Zee Online Poll are mentioned, read the consensus on the JTHJ talk page. Thanks. Ashermadan (talk) 12:22, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Help

I want the Filmfare Trophy jpg, I am not able to find one for the article. The Awards Specialist | Talk 15:56, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Try looking through the subcategories in Commons:Category:Filmfare Awards winners - you may find something useful there.  An optimist on the run! 15:57, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
I had looked, but didn't find any. Can you upload. The Awards Specialist | Talk 15:59, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
I haven't found an official image of the trophy - compare our Oscar and Golden Globe images, both of which were taken from the respective organizations' official websites and carry lengthy fair use rationales of the type we'd also need for the Filmfare trophy.
Also, non-free images should only be used on the articles for which we have a fair use rationale; they should not be used on user pages. Thus I've commented out your gallery of non-free trophy images. Huon (talk) 16:11, 17 January 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:12, 27 June 2018 (UTC)
