DeadBot not checking for edit conflicts? edit

Check out this edit: [1].

Seems to me deadbot isn't checking for an edit conflict - what deadbot wrote seems to be based on an earlier version compared to the one I saved a minute earlier.

Of course, the space bug I've mentioned twice now makes the diff hard to read - look for the reappearance of The Wheatsheaf Tram Stop.

WRT the space bug - can you at least acknowledge that you've seen my notification of the bug? I haven't seen any response from you on any of the messages mentioning it. --Alvestrand 09:38, 20 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Space bug seems still to be a problem - see this diff: [2]
WRT the edit conflict, I think the window has to be longer than 10 seconds - Wikipedia tells us time only in whole minutes, and the two edits were in succeeding minutes - but I notice that deadbot's intervals for doing edits on the deadend lists are quite irregular. What's the mechanism for choosing when to do D-F after doing A-C? --Alvestrand 06:25, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Giggabot edit

[3] - I probably sound stupid right now, but how can I run it without it being on the checkpage? Giggy Talk 01:18, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Aaah, thanks for that. There's probably a really simple answer on how to limit to 50 edits as well...I'll go look. Giggy Talk 01:22, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've run another trial. Hope it's all OK. Giggy Talk 07:52, 23 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi edit

I've been on for the last half hour but Status Bot still says I'm offline. Can you fix it? SLSB talkcontrib 16:07, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your first edit today as 16:58, you posted that at 15:07 (Both times based on Special:Contributions/SLSB - Which is 9 minutes. Status bot only realises you are online if you are making edits. Reedy Boy 17:09, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Auch, User:StatusBot/Status/SLSB - Your online as of this moment... Reedy Boy 17:11, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hmm OK Thanks. How can I change it so when I'm online it doesn't say "StatusBot says: I'm online" but something else? SLSB talkcontrib 17:23, 22 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Are you an admin? AR Argon 20:52, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

He isnt AFAIK. Reedy Boy 21:05, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Unless a rouge bureaucrat promoted me last night, I aren't. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 21:15, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
You're seriously not an admin? Really? I hink you'd make an excellent admin. AR Argon 21:39, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
'Course, I could be wrong. Then again, adminship isn't the same as FE (featured editor, which doesn't exist), according to the adminship page. In case you don't know, that's a compliment. AR Argon 21:44, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks :) I tried twice, in my first, I did it with a low edit count and little contributions, and in my second, I misunderstod a question and it went terribly. Hopefully i'll get promoted in the future :) Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 22:08, 24 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Considering the fact that you did have a good (though insuficent) number of suppopters in the first RfA and you now understand how to better describe consensus, the third time, if you try like a few weeks later, I think you can gather consensus. You don't have to be an admin, of course, but if you want to, you probably will eventually be promoted. AR Argon 02:23, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I am considering going again in the future, but I am going to wait at least another month, as my last one was way too soon. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 05:41, 26 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Hehehe...you're learning :P Seriously though, I think it's great that you do want to run again...but make sure you get at least 1 GA under your belt first (call me if you need help). Giggy\Talk 06:32, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
Not sure about the GA - my one attempt was pretty terrible. I'll stick to my beliefs and avoid heavy article writing :-) Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 07:43, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

StatusBot Clone? edit

Seeing how popular and useful StatusBot is becoming, I was thinking about asking on WP:BOTREQ if someone would host a clone or copy of it, would you be open to this, and would you be willing to work with someone else on compatibility issues? Thanks, — xaosflux Talk 04:40, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the fast response, already missed statusbot when it was recently offline for a short period! :) — xaosflux Talk 04:47, 27 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

SineBot edit

Your bot did an interesting edit here[4]. An editor added a horizontal line on the discussion page and your bot signed it. I am bringing this to your attention rather than fixing it in case this is a bug that can be corrected. Regards.--Old Hoss 15:31, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

In theory its right - Melsaran added the "----", but it wasnt signed, so the bot marked it as unsigned. As its on a discussion page... Reedy Boy 15:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure why would anyone want to sign a horizontal line - after all that is what the edit summary is for. If the bot were to make that automated correction to me, I will revert it. Respectfully, this comment was for TheFearow anyhow, mainly as an FYI. Regards--Old Hoss 17:20, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

I hear status bot is blocked. Is this only for a while? HIYO 20:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC) [5] - Nothing in the block logs... I know theres been a few issues with bots on the toolserver... Reedy Boy 20:48, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wrong blocklog, thats a list of blocks StatusBot has performed (it's not an admin, so empty). THe problem is toolserver lag - up at around an hour, I need it under 5 to work properly. Matt/TheFearow (Talk) (Contribs) (Bot) 21:44, 28 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. I have some serious concerns about Image:US Government most-wanted Iraqi playing cards.jpg, how it came here via BetacommandBot, and how it persists here under the questionable judgement of Betacommand. You have participated in the discussion of bot status for BetacommandBot, so I'd like you to participate in the discussion of Image:US Government most-wanted Iraqi playing cards.jpg. Thanks for your prompt attention to this matter.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 00:08, 25 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
