File:To Øl logo.pdf edit

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. It is unfortunate that you used "undo" to revert a very old tagging of mine when there had been intervening edits. I might not had noticed but for that choice. Are you planning to improve on this? If you're not, I will do some work on the thing but I suspect you will not like the outcome. - Sitush (talk) 18:41, 21 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ruhnu Parish, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Arable (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Roman Empire Map on The European Union article edit

You've reverted my edit by saying "not an empire" ... how does my edit suggest that the EU is an empire in any way whatsoever? The page for Iran has a map of the Achaemenid Empire ... how is that not the same thing ? Romdwolf (talk) 19:28, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I suggest you try and form a consensus to add your map at the article's talk page, rather than individual users talk pages. While I am assuming good faith, your addition does look political.TammbeckTalk 19:31, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
The map was already there for quite a while and was randomly removed from the article without a consensus . It doesn't really seem normal that you can remove something from an article without discussing it and then when adding it back you need a consensus . I honestly unironically do not understand what was political about it . Romdwolf (talk) 19:36, 26 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Why did you do this? I made that edit. Have have internet outages this week and was playing around with my new mobile phone (don't understand why I can get access on phone but not on laptop, but there we are). I not going to sign in to this account from the phone for security reasons. Anyway, I've got access for the moment, so am back to editing. The British Rail Class 170 article clearly states that it is a DMU in the opening sentence of the lede. I would appreciate it if you were to restore the text. Image formats edit

Hi, thank you for uploading some images to Wikipedia. Here's a tip: Use the right image format for the kind of image. As a general rule, this is JPEG for photographs, and PNG for most other kinds of images. Using the wrong format can bloat the file size and/or degrade the quality of the image. Most modern graphics applications will give you the choice between these formats among others. See also Wikipedia:Image use policy#Format. Good luck. — Smjg (talk) 13:23, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Saaremaa Municipality edit

Hi. I noticed your recent page move (Special:Diff/946863392) and this makes me wonder per which sources exactly you figured that "Saaremaa Municipality" is the (most) common English-language name? Per simple Google search another variant "Saaremaa Rural Municipality" seems considerably more common in official usage (primary and secondary sources). "Saaremaa Municipality" is also used, but often as part of assembly/government name ("Saaremaa Municipality Council", "Saaremaa Municipality Government").

Another thing to consider is that so far there has been an unified approach to titling of articles in a set. If title for Saaremaa Municipality is corrected, then it may be a good idea to correct others as well. Articles of other Estonian rural municipalites currently use word "parish" in title. Why "parish" was chosen seems a bit unclear to me. Per this discussion it looks like one user found "parish" - "vald" correspondence in a dictionary, which in itself may only indicate that "parish" isn't fundamentally wrong, not that it's the best possible translation. "Rural municipality" and "municipality" also were suggested in the same discussion and some subsequent discussions that I can find (e.g. Talk:Municipalities of Estonia). A few years ago Wikidata labels were also harmonized to use "rural municipality" (see comments here). 2001:7D0:81DA:F780:4CC9:67E6:8851:8C51 (talk) 10:17, 13 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

I didn't look into it in depth but my thinking was that "Saaremaa Municipality" is used by the entity its self and it was too early to determine the commonest usage in secondary sources in English, as the municipality had just recently been created. By all means go ahead with a move discussion or carry out a bold move if you feel it is warranted. Tammbecktalk 11:13, 13 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

lead/led edit

Hi Hartbottle,

you reverted two of my contributions, here and here, which I think are correct because "led" is the past tense of the verb "lead" – see e.g. the example "Her chosen course of study led to a degree in forensics" here. Can you explain why? (BTW, yesterday I made a larger number of modifications "this lead" → "this led", not only these two, guided by WP:Lists of common misspellings/Grammar and miscellaneous#T.)

Thank you --Cyfal (talk) 06:34, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for getting in touch. "Did not lead to" is correct. "Did not led to" is incorrect. Try googling it or speaking to some more native English speakers. By the way my name is not "Hartbottle". Thank you. Tammbecktalk 07:59, 20 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
