MeetupEdit

So nice to see you on Saturday and thank you for the lovely cake. Chocolate is my favorite and I went home with the pipe character and the W. Feel free to email me sometime if you would like. Jonathunder (talk) 19:08, 21 January 2019 (UTC)

Jonathunder, thank you for the invitation. You're welcome for the cake. I was so happy to see you, thought maybe the southern Minnesota snowstorm had stopped you. It's unlikely I will ever email but I did sign up for the user group mailing list. Best wishes. -SusanLesch (talk) 15:02, 22 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi Susan, it was nice to meet you too. I don't really get on wiki that much for editing so I am not sure if I will keep this up or not. I really like the fact that you are taking a class in statistics. Lifelong learning is great. I sort of lag in this department too. If you are bored sometime, feel free to light a fire under me to do something ;-) Mindbodyfuse (talk) 05:03, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:DT Suzuki by Okamura.jpgEdit

Thanks for uploading File:DT Suzuki by Okamura.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 17:25, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:DT Suzuki by Okamura.jpgEdit

Thanks for uploading File:DT Suzuki by Okamura.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Invereshie and Inshriach National Nature ReserveEdit

Thanks for the review. Regarding the photo, I could have used it, but as this was my first attempt at DYK, and I wasn't quite sure what I was doing, I kept it simple. I guess it's too late now it's been approved? Grinner (talk) 07:04, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

It would be great if you could add the photo, I wouldn't know where to add it to. Thanks so much for your help. Grinner (talk) 12:56, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for adding the image, and for your kind words about the article. Grinner (talk) 16:05, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Ida DorseyEdit

On 7 March 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ida Dorsey, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ...that Ida Dorsey built the last standing bordello (pictured) from Minneapolis' three red-light districts? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ida Dorsey. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Ida Dorsey), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Thank you. If you know anybody at the National Register of Historic Places kindly put in a good word for her building! -SusanLesch (talk) 15:22, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
It is a lovely building. I see she was buried in Lakewood Cemetery. A photo of her grave could add to the article on her. Jonathunder (talk) 19:58, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
Yes, she's right across the street from the Dunwoodys. I will grab an extra vase next time and maybe get a picture if nobody else does first. P.S. Sorry I forgot. Probably I can't make it there until summer 2020. -SusanLesch (talk) 02:15, 8 March 2019 (UTC)
I'll try to get one this summer. Jonathunder (talk) 15:03, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

2019 Kentucky Derby ~ Country House (horse)Edit

Hey, on your edit of the two pages above. Maximum Security did not cross the finish line first because he was disqualified before he crossed the finish line, so technically Maximum Security did not cross the finish first ~ that is why I wrote it that way ~ it gives the reader an impression that Maximum security won the race but that win was taken away from him ~ it is misleading to say Maximum Security crossed first ~ first is a place in a competition~ I plan to take this issue to the talk page unless you self revert ~~ also nice meeting you Mitchellhobbs (talk) 17:24, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

WNBA RostersEdit

Something else I was thinking about for the WNBA rosters: Does the current template have a way to put a certain year on a certain page? Currently, say for the 2017 Atlanta Dream season I will just copy and paste the roster template into the page at the end of the season, to keep the 2017 roster on the 2017 page. However, is there a way to put the year in the code to display the template so the 2017 roster will stay on the 2017 page? Let me know if that makes sense.

Thanks! Swimmer33 (Talk) 14:47, 20 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Swimmer33. Sorry to say I am the wrong person to ask. I would ask Frietjes, if you like, right near the RFC and see what she says. You might be the WNBA's most experienced editor on Wikipedia. Just looking, that roster is made out of bits:

WNBA roster header current
list of playerW
WNBA roster footer current

By the way, thank you for your efforts. I hadn't realized until recently how much we owe to you! -SusanLesch (talk) 21:56, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
No problem! I was surprised by the lack of content and decided to be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Swimmer33 (Talk) 23:16, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
