Fearganainm listed at Redirects for discussion

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Fearganainm. Since you had some involvement with the Fearganainm redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion (if you have not already done so). RashersTierney (talk) 03:08, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

I've withdrawn the above nomination. Should have discussed it here first anyway. Best. RashersTierney (talk) 03:26, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

Great to see you around.

Always good to see one of the good guys come back after a break. :-) Spartaz Humbug! 04:40, 26 January 2013 (UTC)

AfD closure 1/31/2013

Hiya; You closed an AfD that was being tossed around for a while now on "Che Arthur". Not that it's world ending, but there were some questions on the material, and there is an open WP:SPI on the contributions. Could you consider returning it to the world of AfD debate while we continue looking at the possible issues with potential sockpuppets? Of note, the majority of the potential socks were hailing from what appears as Ireland, so maybe someone else may want to peek at the material as well. Thank you for all you do! :) Яεñ99 (talk) 00:06, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Hiya! Got it worked out talking to Someguy1221. Take care :) Яεñ99 (talk) 02:58, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Edwin Hale (talk) 21:43, 2 February 2013 (UTC) I hope I am following the etiquette properly. Thanks for the comment on my entry on "Joachim von Blumenthal". It is mostly a translation of an entry in German Wikipedia on the same guy, the entry is called "Joachim Christian von Blumenthal".

This guy was basicly Prussia's finance and War minister at the time the Napoleonic Wars broke out and is thus a very important personage.

That's fine, but please can you edit it to translate the remaining German words such as "am" and "und" into English, and use the date style 2 October 1749 rather than 2. Oktober 1749. Stifle (talk) 21:46, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Message in response to Speedy Deletion Nomination

Hello User:Stifle, Before I could talk to you or make any changes to the page Kavita Kosh, it got deleted. I understand that I may have missed mentioning why the page was important. I am a bit less experienced Wikipedian. But, I can assure you that it is an important topic and deserves to be a part of the Wikipedia. And, I really want to improve the article. However, as the article is deleted now, what do I do? Should I rewrite the article again? OR there is a way to recover the deleted page? Thanks a lot. Kanungoparth (talk) 05:42, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Kavita Kosh was deleted under criterion 7 (under Articles) of our criteria for speedy deletion because it appeared to be an article about a website which didn't indicate why it was important or significant. Please see WP:WEB for details of what might show notability. If you think that these criteria are met, please explain which one, provide citations from reliable sources to back up your claim, and details of why these were not added earlier, and I will consider undeleting it. Alternatively, I can userfy it so that you can improve it in your own time before moving it back to the main article namespace when it is fully ready.
You may alternatively file a deletion review request. Stifle (talk) 13:36, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

RE: National team appearances in the UEFA Women's Championship

I didn't remove the {{prod}} tag, (since I make it a rule to leave it up to the concern-raiser if they feel the issue has been addressed,) but I did hide it and stated my object for deletion in the edit summary. Just thought I'd notify you. CyMoahk (talk) 21:28, 3 February 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of List of Australian & Englad Test matches

Some one actually removed the deletion tag from Australian test match list page.

Any ways If we have list of players, captains etc. I dont see a reason why we cann't have Match List. If you look at the List of Indian Test matches all the results are directed towards the respective series page.

I am not aware of the inclusion criteria you had mentioned. So I have nothing to comment.

Maihudon (talk) 18:08, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know. You can find information at WP:INDISCRIMINATE about inclusion criteria. Stifle (talk) 19:15, 5 February 2013 (UTC)

People trying to screw with my sandbox

Hello, well here's the deal, some of my friends are trying to screw with my sandbox and it really ticks me off. I was wondering if it was possible that only me or wikipedia accounts and users could edit my sandbox, not random anonymous and ip addresses not logged in as users? Here's the page, I already re-edited back to the original content, cheers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Freezes/sandbox Freezes (talk) 02:23, 11 February 2013 (GMT-5) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 181.129.230.224 (talk)

If the page were still User:Freezes/sandbox, it would be allowable, but you can't do that for the article at Futtizes as it has been moved out of the sandbox. Stifle (talk) 19:36, 11 February 2013 (UTC)

Whitelist approval

Greetings, Stifle. You placed a note on my whitelist request that it is "eligible for approval". Is there something I can or must do to expedite the process? Or should I simply wait patiently while others do what they do? Kind regards, --@Efrat (talk) 08:22, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

You need to find an admin who can write your URL as a regular expression, or wait until one shows up. Unfortunately, as you have seen, the process is glacial. Stifle (talk) 14:21, 14 February 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for considering the request (regardless of outcome) and then for the outcome. Honest, I'm not getting any click through money.  ;-) Actually maybe better if you had rejected it. Requesting mediation on the subject of User:Launchballer's signature. I see you've had discussions with this user before, and since the user informed me that he had previous issues and my issue was never brought up then, I have decided to research this. I've so far found you have had issues there before, and would like you to help mediate this to make sure the user understands there is no "grandfathering" as it were of signatures. You may find the current discussion here. Thank you. User:Technical 13   ( C • M • Click to learn how to view this signature as intended ) 16:08, 1 April 2013 (UTC)

RosAsm unblocking of their home page

Hi Stifle, months later, I'm still trying to get the home page for RosAsm unblocked. Stifle declined this request because nobody showed how this is a reliable source. (this has now been throughly shown) I would have declined it because no URL was specified for white-listing (the url was there, but since it is blocked I could not provide it as an explicit url). Would you please revisit this issue and reconsider your decision. Note: I am a neutral 3rd party not in any way related to the RosAsm project, however as an assembly language programmer I find their project to be interesting. Thanks. P.S. I don't seem to be getting email notifications, but I do check the MediaWiki_talk:Spam-whitelist#RosAsm_Forum at random intervals. OldCodger2 (talk) 22:12, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

I can't find that link. Please re-file your request, linking to where a consensus was established that the source was reliable. Note that email or other notifications are not provided. Stifle (talk) 19:16, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi Stifle: You marked Gymnastics Examiner as approved on 03 MAR, but it is still not working. Also a user went and archived it. Help?

See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_talk:Spam-whitelist#Gymnastics_Examiner_still_not_working

TCO (talk) 01:45, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

  • Approved means that it has been authorized for whitelisting, which is one of the steps on the way to being whitelisted. Only when it is marked "done" or "added" is it possible to add it onto an article. I understand one of my colleagues has now marked this "done". Stifle (talk) 19:17, 5 July 2013 (UTC)

Proposed Northern Ireland Wiki Meetup

A Wikimeet is proposed for Northern Ireland in the next few months. If you have never been to one, this is an opportunity to meet other Wikipedians in an informal atmosphere for Wiki and non-Wiki related chat and for beer or food if you like. Most take place on a Sunday afternoon in a suitable pub but other days and locations can also work. Experienced and new contributors are all welcome. This event is definitely not restricted just to discussion of Northern Ireland topics. AfD closure 7/20/13

Why was List of God of War: Ascension downloadable content deleted? There was not a consensus to delete. --JDC808 17:53, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

  • I find that there was a rough consensus to delete as unencyclopedic content. You are welcome to list at WP:DRV. Stifle (talk) 17:58, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
    • A rough consensus? Okay, I'll remember that next time when there's a 1-to-1 vote with a third undecided. I'd rather not list it there because this even being nominated at AfD was ridiculous and unnecessary. --JDC808 18:13, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
      • Don't forget the nominator counts as 1 also. Stifle (talk) 18:59, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
        • Regardless, that's not enough to say there was a consensus, or even a rough consensus. FAC nominations aren't promoted based on a 2 support, 1 oppose vote. They need more consensus, why would this be different? --JDC808 19:23, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
          • Consensus isn't only determined on vote counts. The level of argument counts too. Stifle (talk) 19:25, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
            • I know that, but even with the level of argument, there wasn't enough consensus. This should have been closed as "no consensus" or left open longer to actually reach a consensus. --JDC808 19:35, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
              • The discussion had been relisted twice with no additional comments; how long more did you want? Stifle (talk) 16:47, 28 July 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of God of War: Ascension downloadable content

I know it wasn't raised in the (admittedly horribly attended) AfD, but would you consider amending your close to redirecting the list to God_of_War:_Ascension#Downloadable_content, thus allowing non-admins to upmerge relevant content to the summary style parent of the deleted list? It seems much more consisted with WP:ATD. Cheers, Jclemens (talk) 02:57, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

academyrank.com

Your assumption that this website has not been updated since 2011 is completely incorrect. You can't determine this by looking at the copyright year. I've been following this site for several years, and I can guarantee that it has been updated regularly. You should look at why this website was added to the blacklist a few years ago. It had little to do with the website itself. AfricaTanz (talk) 20:45, 25 July 2013 (UTC)

MckNasty

This is why I should use my watchlist - the amount of original research in this article is disgraceful. Having said that, being a member of several live bands - which, admittedly, is new knowledge to me - is enough on its own to warrant an article per WP:MUSICBIO criterion #6. If in doubt, then his involvement in Britain's Got Talent would mean that a redirect to any of those bands would be inappropriate. You are still welcome to AfD it if you so desire, but I would recommend against it.--Launchballer 19:56, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

  • Noted, but (a) I am an admin, whether or not I use my admin account, (b) I doubt newer users are likely to use scripts like this; indeed, in 8 years as a Wikipedian this is the first time I had ever heard of it, and (c) is it that big a deal? :) Stifle (talk) 20:08, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
Your account status was never the issue. New users not using scripts is your opinion. After 4+ years of editing your signature is the first I've seen that says This is my Non-Admin account and the links back to said account are with Admin status. I believe the same is true with (WMF) accounts. As far as how big of deal it is, who knows, I'm just pointing out something I noticed. Also C/P'ing my signature to another page is a little unsettling. {{tb}}. Cheers, Mlpearc (powwow) 23:21, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Nathaniel Raymond Deletion Review

Stifle, I think part of the reason for the decision to Snow Keep the Nathaniel Raymond Afd was the unreasonableness of the nomination. Everyone who disagreed with the nominating editor was accused of being a sockpuppet, and no matter how much evidence of Raymond's notability was presented, they said that it was insignificant. No evidence was presented that Raymond failed to meet WP:BLP, and this whole thing appears to be some sort of personal or professional vendetta against Raymond, rather than a legitimate notability question. I'm not a big fan of WP:SNOW as I think that its vague and self-contradictory. However, WP:SK provides for a speedy keep for "nominations which are made solely to provide a forum for disruption." TheWebMiner black listing

Hello, i am writing to you because of the recent decline that you've done to the request of removal from the blacklist of the site www.thewebminer.com i want to state at first that i am not in connection to the website administrators although i use it for personal extractions that are required in my field of activity, which is marketing. I also want to be clear that my extractions are relatively small so i don't pay any money for that service and i was not asked to do this request. I simply think that thewebminer is a very efficient tool for extractions. At first i've come to it browsing through Wikipedia and this is how i usually got to it, until the site was removed. I was curious about the removal so this is how i found out about the wikipedia blacklisting. I am only writing to you because i want you to reconsider the denial of the delisting and to take into consideration the fact that the web miner is a very popular tool within marketing companies like mine and it should have a place into wikipedia as it is extremely relevant to the web scraping topic.

Dre Knight: Deletion Challenge

Dear Mr. Stifle,

I wanted to challenge your choice on deleting the article: Dre Knight

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dre_Knight https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Dre_Knight

I am a huge fan of his and took the time to compile a list of resource links online that would support my argument.

I want to prove his relevance and how his name is a big part of the music industry and needs to have a page where his fellow fans can learn more about him and his discography. These example are only the tip of the iceberg and would love to spend more time and compile the page this artists rightfully deserves. But here is what I have so far.

Dre began his career as the main factor of a production team from NY called "The Narcotics", this link is to a website I found covering a PR from "The Narcotics" interviewing DRE KNIGHT on a track he produced with a feature from KANYE WEST: http://www.prweb.com/releases/2006/04/prweb373028.htm

The article above also touches on his work with LL COOL J and FREEWAY, his production credit for that is found here on WIKIPEDIA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_Smith_(album)

If you want an entire article on Dre and "The Narcotics" you can learn all about him here on this site I found: http://www.mvremix.com/urban/showcase/content/the_narcotics.shtml

Note that the article above name drops a lot of his other artists such as "...Carl Thomas, Cassidy, Chris Brown, John Legend and LL cool J are just some of the artists that they have worked with..."

Now let's move on to more recent work starting with FRANK OCEANS "Acura Intergurl", the production credit can be found here: http://www.whosampled.com/sample/142968/Wiz-Khalifa-The-Cruise-Frank-Ocean-Acura-Integurl/

Also note the song was sampled by WIZ KHALIFA.

This track was even placed s NO.1 on BILLBOARDS list of dopest FRANK OCEAN tracks pre-CHANNEL ORANGE: http://www.billboard.com/articles/columns/the-juice/481842/frank-oceans-10-best-pre-channel-orange-tracks

All of this leads me to another random site and article about DRE KNIGHTS craft found here: http://www.browneyedqweens.com/2011/05/behind-scenes-dre-knight.html

Note that this article covers "The man behind the Frank Ocean record "Acura Integurl"... Allow BrowneyedQweens to introduce the infamous "Dre Knight"

Mr. Knight has produced for Talented acts like: Teairra Marie, Sizzla Kolonji, and legendary artist LL COOL J just to name a few."

The SIZZLA track as mentioned above can be found at these two links, one of which is WIKIPEDIA: http://www.allmusic.com/artist/dre-knight-mn0002858336 and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sizzla_discography

Now in recent news, USA TODAY covered DRE KNIGHT in an article and video talking about how he recently was reconnected with his birthmother: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/05/24/reunion-of-musical-mom-son-reveals-much-in-common/2357195/

Note that in the above article USA TODAY states "...he has worked with artists such as Nicki Minaj and LL Cool J."

If you want a reference or to hear the NICKI MINAJ track with DRE KNIGHTS credits it can be found here: http://vimeo.com/25490606

Other notable mentions include: http://www.idolator.com/7482377/bebe-rexhas-comeback-kids-video-idolator-premiere

Where a fellow fan of DRE KNIGHTS comments on BEBE REXHAS track clarifying who the producer was in the comment sections.

Also I would like to point out that the track BEEP BEEP off of the Keshia Chanté album found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2U_(album)

was a DRE KNIGHT production and should be noted as such.

I hope that we see eye to eye on this and all my research wasn't in vain. I believe this proves your statement of "I can't find significant coverage of this producer (most hits are for Dr. Dre) - the couple of mentions I do find are very minor ("xyz worked with producer Dre Knight" type of thing). Unreferenced for over 3 years." false, and we can agree on that.

When it all comes down to it, the presence of his page is important for me and fans alike. No one should have to put in the hours of research I did to hunt down all this common knowledge. The sole purpose of wikipedia is to be a helpful tool of knowledge and reference to public information, to synergize and collaborate sources all over the web to make the user experience of tracking down information public, easy, and available. I just want the millions of fans Dre Knight has touched to be able to review and learn about where their favorite songs come from and why. I hope you understand my concerns and reinstate his page accordingly.

Thank You,

  • This decision was taken nearly 4 years ago. There is nothing stopping you from recreating the article as long as you can overcome the reasons for deletion, being that "Dre Knight" did not appear to have substantial coverage in independent, reliable sources. If you can specify those sources (concisely) and create a user account, I can undelete the article in draft format for you to work on. Stifle (talk) 12:41, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
  • I would be happy to do that, this is my profile. Please put in draft format so I can begin work.Drt831 (talk) 07:08, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

Scope of DRV

My heart sinks when a DRV nomination goes on a length about why an article should (or should not) exist rather than seeking a review of the conduct or close of the AFD. However, many people nominating here are entirely inexperienced in DRV and may not know what to ask for, even if they have carefully read the "purpose" at the top. I think an "out of scope" proposed dismissal may often be too harsh, especially when the closing admin has directed the person to DRV.[1] Also, your comments concerning DGG's remarks were not happily phrased.[2]

To my real point: "Userify" (or some variation) is quite a common DRV upshot but I think the present instructions are very unclear. Seemingly, "to request that previously deleted content be used on other pages (please go to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion for these requests)" is the advice to heed. I wonder whether to suggest adding "to request that previously deleted content be made available for improvement in a draft area (please go to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion for these requests)". What do you think?

It also looks as if "in scope" #3 "if significant new information has come to light since a deletion that would justify recreating the deleted page;" is at odds with many "out of scope" criteria, certainly #1 "because of a disagreement with the deletion discussion's outcome that does not involve the closer's judgment;" but I have no idea how to resolve that matter! I sometimes write out of scope and sometimes endorse; the former makes it more plain that the intent of DRV is not to provide users with a second bite at the cherry who have had their favourite articles deleted. I also make no apology whatsoever for calling out users who try to misquote policy based on their own personal preferences.
I don't see a problem with DRVs suggesting or closing as userfy. While userfication as a request should properly be made at WP:REFUND, it is reasonable that a request for full undeletion at DRV be responded to by userfication where undeletion wouldn't be appropriate at that point in time. I don't see any problem with your wording if you feel that would be clearer.
Nor is there an issue as such with the new information vs. disagreement point. A nomination based on significant new information acknowledges (implicitly) that the consensus and actions at the time of the original decision were appropriate, but that there are now additional considerations which merit re-examining the situation. This User's Images

Shouldn't all this user's "free" images be speedily deleted since he had a history of copyright violations and typing in fake OTRS tickets--at least the ones without a real OTRS ticket? Just wondering. I am not really active on Wikipedia, more on Commons, but one of his images was transferred to Commons from Wikipedia here and I just tagged it as a probable copyvio. I'm not sure why you're contacting me specifically, but I think this is one for WP:CCI. Stifle (talk) 18:52, 24 December 2013 (UTC)
