WikiCup 2011 October newsletter

The 2011 WikiCup is now over, and our new champion is Hurricanehink (submissions), who joins the exclusive club of the previous winners: Dreamafter (2007), jj137 (2008), Durova (2009) and Sturmvogel_66 (2010). The final standings were as follows:

Prizes for first, second, third and fourth will be awarded, as will prizes for all those who reached the final eight. Every participant who scored in the competition will receive a ribbon of participation. In addition to the prizes based on placement, the following special prizes will be awarded based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, the prize is awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round.

• The Featured Article Award: Casliber (submissions), for his performance in round 2. Hurricanehink (submissions) matched the score, but Casliber won the tiebreaker.
• The Good Article Award: Yellow Evan (submissions), for his performance in round 4.
• The Featured List Award: Miyagawa (submissions), for his performance in round 4. PresN (submissions) matched the score, but Miyagawa won the tiebreaker.
• The Recognised Topic Award (for good and featured topics): PresN (submissions), for his performance in round 3.
• The Did You Know Award: The Bushranger (submissions), for his performance in round 1.
• The In the News Award: Candlewicke (submissions), for his performance in round 1.
• The Reviewer Award (for good article reviews): Wizardman (submissions), for his performance in round 3.

No prize was awarded for featured pictures, sounds or portals, as none were claimed throughout the competition. The awards will be handed out over the next few days. Congratulations to all our participants, and especially our winners; we've all had fun, and Wikipedia has benefitted massively from our content work.

Preparation for next year's WikiCup is ongoing. Interested parties are invited to sign up and participate in our straw polls. It's been a pleasure to work with you all this year, and, whoever's taking part in and running the competition in 2012, we hope to see you all in January! J-Lo Discog

I think one of the criteria for FLCs is stability, but I've been edit-warring a bit with a user on Jennifer Lopez discography. They seem to have understood my Talk page message about using cert providers instead of country abbreviations for the new WP:DISCOGSTYLE recommendations, but hasn't yet understood/accepted the ordering-by-provider part. Well, it's good to know that. Anyway, concerning the message i left you on Mags's page, well i will just tell you that it will be better if you put his name as (in my opinion) he did most of the job. What you did was more like prose fixing and proper formatting of references. It will be pretty unfair if you do not credit him. Well, if he had been expanding that article from day one, it would have been different but if you see the history of the page, you will realize that he expanded the article in a relatively short period of time. @Jivesh: He did expand the article and sure he can get a co-nomination credit. But, Wikipedia is not about credit. It's about content. JL Filmography

Good to see another filmography is on its way to FL. I've only worked on two filmographies to reach FL, and I'd definitely recommend seeking input from some of the other editors that have brought some filmographies up to FL recently. The lead is definitely the priority, it's usually one of the main sticking points during a nomination, so I'll take a look once you've pulled that together. Make sure you give an overview of her entire career, mentioning a few notable roles. I'm sure we have plenty of free images of here so try to find one relevant to her film/television career. I'd recommend taking a look at the other FL filmographies for ideas. I don't know if you need the sourcing for the name of her character, and am not sure if Alrovi is a reliable source (I may be wrong, but I'd check on that since it's used so much). Consider using articles from Google News related to the films for finding relevant articles for sourcing. I think it's common to have the years as the first column in the tables, so you may want to shuffle those around. Let me know if you need clarification on any of these, and let me know when it's close to submitting to FL and I'll take a look at it again. --Happy editing! Producer credits

I've reverted your edits to Bionic and FutureSex/LoveSounds. It's my understanding that the convention with the full name on first-reference only is for songwriting credits, not producers. Although it does not mention producer credits, WP:Albums/Article body notes first-reference only to be "the standard method of attributing songwriters". Dan56 (talk) 03:45, 10 November 2011 (UTC)

Okay. You'll find out about "Sparks Fly" at 11 minutes and 37 seconds into the video. I know the cover sucks. But it's all we got for now. :( I need to get a new printer/scanner. It'd be better if the scanner wasn't messed up as it is but for now it's all we got until the cover leaks onto the internet or Swift post it on her website, it's not even on Wal-Mart.com, I looked and Wal-Mart is the only place to get it. First, remove the infobox. Second, a good idea I think would be to write a brief biography, but focusing on film and television appearances.
