Please do not add commentary, your own point of view, or your own personal analysis to Wikipedia articles, as you did to Vijay (actor). Doing so violates Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy and breaches the formal tone expected in an encyclopedia. Diff: [1] It is not our place to editorialise or issue value judgments. Vijay's specific placement on a Forbes list is objective. Describing it as "good", is entirely subjective. Basic concept. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:10, 24 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please do not add or change content, as you did at Kaththi, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. - Arjayay (talk) 19:43, 13 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

3RR Warning edit

Your recent editing history at Thuppakki shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - Arjayay (talk) 17:43, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I only restored to this source BOTY Is this also not a reliable source https://bestoftheyear.in/movie/thuppakki/  ???--Starunique (talk) 17:45, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply
Why would you assume that site is reliable? Because it exists? Anyone can start a website and scrape content from other sources. For all you know, that site just pulled information from an older version of the Wikipedia article. We only care what reliable published sources with established reputations for fact-checking and accuracy have to say about anything. Do you know who's behind that blog? What are their journalistic qualifications? What makes them experts in Indian film financials? If you don't have any of these answers, then please just stick to mainstream sites. See WP:ICTF#Guidelines on sources for a rough example of sites that are and are not considered reliable. As a general rule, avoid all blogs, please. Thank you, Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:55, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for the clear cut information Cyphoidbomb cheers:)--Starunique (talk) 18:11, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

OK, User:Starunique now we are talking, let's take this slowly.
We have a lot of trouble with budget and gross figures in Indian films. There are no accurate figures, which is why we should be using "Estimated" before figures - as per consensus at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force.
The most suspect information is the press releases issued by the various production companies, trying to promote their own films. The Times of India sometimes reports what these claims are, as in the article you linked, here "As per the announcement made by Eros, Thuppakki made a total box office collection of Rs. 180 crore (domestic)" - The Times of India is NOT saying that the film made Rs, 180 crore, but that Eros claimed this.
Reliable sources for Indian films are listed at WP:ICTFSOURCES - which does not include BOTY in either the reliable or unreliable lists. BOTY it is not a site I know, but it looks like a fan-site, and does not explain where it gets its figures from, so these cannot be checked.
As you are obviously keen on Indian film, or at least Tamil films, it would be worth your while reading Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Film/Indian cinema task force and the associated archives - Hope this helps - Arjayay (talk) 18:13, 14 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Please stop editing while logged out. edit

Hi there, please stop editing while logged out. If you have an account, you should be using it. Otherwise it look like you're trying to make squirrely edits while logged out to avoid scrutiny. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 20:24, 16 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Images on commons edit

Your images of Vijay on commons look like you have picked them from various websites, blogs and forums and put them up here as your work. You actually can't do that here unless you get permission from the website in person to do so (mostly by e-mailing them) (If it is REALLY your work, i.e. if you have personally taken the photographs like Allan Warren, then its fine). Only after that, you inform on Wikimedia commons about it. You can ask Perumalism about it. Try to use images from Silverscreen.in. Take it as a sign of help from a fellow Ilayathalapathy fan. Hope they help. Thanks.    — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 12:50, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi there iam a professional photographer by the way and wikipedia have all my details. I mailed them. I take photos of Vijay, ajith surya vikram etc during film photoshoots and celebrity audio launch events etc. if you want any vijay images mention your mail id i will mail you. Thank you:)--Starunique (talk) 13:36, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

The thing is what I write must be supported by references, and that too by reliable sources (newspapers) and websites like Rediff and Sify for instance. I've found a source for Bagavathi's successful run at Rediff.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 14:44, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

yeah you are right even though we knew a film is a hit or average as i am in the field we cannot mention in wikipedia without reliable sources :).--Starunique (talk) 16:15, 19 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Vijay discography FLC edit

My goodness. What have you done? I thought you wanted to develop it further and then take it to FL, but you nominated it straight away almost as it is. You must expand the lead well and reference each and every one of those songs along with the awards and nominations they received (in case they received any). Withdraw your nomination immediately (I'm telling this so for your own good and from mine and my fellow editors' experiences).  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 15:45, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Bro how to withdraw??--Starunique (talk) 16:08, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Note also that before you nominate anything, like Good Article or Featured Article, you should be sure that the article meets the various criteria for these designations. For instance, see Wikipedia:Featured list criteria. These designations aren't decorations, nor should they be used to convey importance of the subject. We label articles this way as an example of what good articles and better articles look like. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:40, 22 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Regarding revert edit

Hey, re: this, it is necessary to mention Vijay is an actor, or else it may confuse folks who haven't heard of him to think actor Vijay is not the same as singer Vijay. Also, Vijay's introduction into the film industry needs to be explained, hence the revert. Thanks, King Prithviraj II (talk) 16:20, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

@King Prithviraj II Merry xmas and a happy new year. Ok fyn then I started edited the article and you completed it by adding reliable sources. Good work. I think you can nominate the article for featured list. :) thanks Starunique (talk) 17:08, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

I can't take credit for your work.   If you wish, I can act as a co-nominator. Currently, the article needs lot of work for featured list standards (Grammar fixes, reliable sources, more info, sources that mention co-singers, etc.) Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you too, King Prithviraj II (talk) 17:26, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

nah i dont want any credit. Keep up the good work. I find your hardwork in the article complete it and nominate it thumbs up  :) :) Starunique (talk) 18:55, 27 December 2017 (UTC)Reply

Are you using multiple accounts? edit

Starunique, are you using multiple accounts, like as Cyctolaugh, etc? If you are, you should declare that on your user pages, so that people know you're legitimately using multiple accounts. If you don't disclose this, it's going to look like you're hiding something and attempting to avoid scrutiny. Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:26, 26 January 2018 (UTC)Reply
