Improper licence?
editWhat do you mean? I don't think that constitutes an unwarned deletion, especially when {{hangon}}

Lukas Rossi Article Image Deletion
editI am quite confused but willing to locate and replace the old image with a more recent one. I must get the artist to indicate which he would prefer.
In order to avoid future battles with Wiki. I need a LOT of assistance evidently. A perusal of edits in Late Oct to Early November will reveal the Good Faith effort that the Photographer, Artist, and I all gave in the attempt to get an image posted.
Once we managed that process, the Image remained on the article with no dispute for almost one year.
When the warning was posted, I immediately read the updated instructions regarding the posting of an image that was not licensed but rather given to the artist for use. I forwarded all email discussion and permissions to the email address provided in that article to permissions-en@wikimedia.org . (see edit by MilborneOne and the instructions provided by same)
At this point I can't even retrieve the image as it appears to have been removed from Wikipedia completely.
Any assistance/advice that you can offer would be greatly appreciated as Mr Rossi is working with photographers who love his work, offer the photography work as a donation to his career, and do not carry a copyright/license on their images. fransi (talk) 12:47, 8 October 2008 (UTC)fransi kaye
Brother Marquis is notable under WikiPedia standards.
editBrother Marquis is notable and you had no right to delete it== Brother Marquis has starred in 5 2 Live Crew albums and will be starring in 2 Live Crew's upcoming album. He also had made 2 solo albums. His real name is Mark Ross. You can find pictures of him all over the Internet. He is listed as an official member of 2 Live Crew on their website. He has been shown as a member on all their officially signed and released albums he has starred in. Parts of songs where he features in have been marked on many lyrics sites. He has performed live with them in concert. He's on the covers of all the 2 Live Crew album's he starred in for christ sake. There have been YouTube comments about him. Yes he is notable and you can't deny it and you won't stop me from making articles of official notable musicians to make WikiPedia better. Please explain your reasoning now how Brother Marquis is so calle "unnotible". Please don't just pertend like you don't see this. Respond with your reason the instant you see this. Peace.--AdrianPosse (talk) 01:15, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
To your comment on my page
editYeah, but that's like if you see an apple and you feel it and your going to write down on paper if it exists you must go around asking people if they believe the apple exists. It's very obvious. Brother Marquis is a famous member of 2 Live Crew and starred in tons of chart-topping albums and singles. If your really 40 you should know that because of all the controversy they caused in the late 80's and early 90's. —Preceding unsigned comment added by AdrianPosse (talk • contribs) 01:25, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Can you take another look at this image? The original oversized version does not appear to have been deleted. Cheers! PC78 (talk) 11:50, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- I thought it was simply a case of replacing an oversized image with a smaller one, regardles of whether or not the image is the same. I've had such images deleted in the past, anyway; what's important is that the original upload is too large to satisfy the necessary guidelines, which should be enough by itself to have it deleted. If it helps, no source was provided for the original JPG, either. PC78 (talk) 20:24, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
Can you restire this. It is in the process of going for GA Blofeld of SPECTRE (talk) 18:34, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

The connections between actors and films in many cases really is quite funny. We're looking at Moonrakers's Blanche Ravalec, Jaws's girlfriend who now dubs the voice of Ugly Betty for France. Blofeld of SPECTRE (talk) 23:36, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Images
editExcuse me if I'm a little off here, but I noticed that you resurrected the main image for the Robert Lowell page, and since there's been a lot of disappearing photos I was hoping you could do the same for Hart Crane and T. S. Eliot? In both cases the prior photos, which just recently disappeared, should be well within public domain. Thanks!
--ful cleane (talk) 08:15, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Twenty-eight google search pages down and still no sign of a valid source on the Eliot photo. Will keep my eye out for possible new main photos for each article. --ful cleane (talk) 08:46, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Deletion of StrategyWiki
editJust compare:
- Galaxiki Alexa ranking: 565,443
- LyricWiki Alexa ranking: 15,060
- OpenWetWare Alexa ranking: 126,691
and
- StrategyWiki Alexa ranking: 12,273
If the alexa ranking cannot be a measure of notoriety from a website, what can be?
I think that the StrategyWiki website is sufficiently notorious to have a article about. But, please, reply.MRFraga (talk) 16:20, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Image:Blanche-de-Castilla.jpg in the public domain?
editRule: Source information must be provided so that the copyright status can be verified. De www.guide2womenleaders.com website is where the Blanche picture was ripped from. Is that website the copyright holder? There is nothing on that website to indicate so. For all we know, that website may be in copyright violation. So be it. However, Wikipedia needs the true author (painter) who authored the picture so that indeed we can ascertain that the author has been dead for more than 100 years and the picture is in the public domain. This being a potential copyright violation, I reversed your edit of Image:Blanche-de-Castilla.jpg. Cheers. -- Iterator12n Talk 01:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

editI just wanted to check and see if this was a typo ("the9:30"). I checked around and it appeared to be so I moved it to Live at the 9:30 Club (Virginia Coalition album) due to there now being a Live at the 9:30 Club and turned Live At The 9:30 Club into a redirect to Live at the 9:30 Club (disambiguation). French commune infoboxes
editHi Skier. We have a large back log of French commune articles to add the infoboxes from French wikipedia Status check. All that needs doing is copying the infobox directly from the French wikipedia equivalent. Please see Vulaines. All that needs doing for each article is cutting and pasting the infobox from French wiki into every article which must be bot compatible. So for Vulaines all it requires is pasting the infobox into it from here and pasting it into the english wiki article. COuld somebody please programme a bot or use some form of coding to help complete the task in hours rather than months? Blofeld of SPECTRE (talk) 11:48, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
Ah, I've actually done that already, I'm well acquainted with BAG. In my experience though few people ever respond or will take on the task. I;ve asked a few people about it but if you know somebody or something which would see it through please do it or leave a note after my note or something.Blofeld of SPECTRE (talk) 15:13, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

Question from Newbiez
editHello SkierRMH. I have recently realizzed that a picture that I uploaded onto Wikipedia and put on my experimental H.P.A.W. page was deleted by you. I am sure that you had a good reason, but even so, I would appreciate it greatly if you could message me back and tell me why. Keep in mind that this page I was editting was a work-in-progress, and I was not ready to upload it to the main Wikipedia server.
Thanks Newbiez (talk) 18:58, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Impetuous Fire / Forever and Ever AfD closing?
editI'm not sure what went on there, and what the rationale for closing is. All the article creator did was move it from one realtively unknown name to another relatively unknown name. There was no merging of two separate articles, and this did nothing at all to address the notability guidelines set out by WP:NOTFILM. Tarc (talk) 13:21, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

stub templates
editHi Skier - any reason why you moved the stub templates further up the page here? They're meant to go after the categories. Not a biggie, just wondering... Grutness...wha? 08:23, 25 October 2008 (UTC)
- Try Wikipedia:Stub#How to mark an article as a stub (first paragraph). They're meant to go after the categories so that the stub categories appear at the end of the list. As I said, it's not a big deal, but some of editors get annoyed with them appearing before the navigation categories. Grutness...wha? 08:32, 25 October 2008 (UTC)

Leaf morphology disposition.png
editCould I ask you why you deleted the original version of Image:Leaf morphology disposition.png? The only reason I scaled it down in the first place was to work around a technical limitation of MediaWiki's image thumbnailing feature. The original version remains the one anyone wishing to create derivative versions or to use the image outside Wikipedia would want to use, and I deliberately referenced it in my upload summary. Not to mention that, should the 12.5 megapixel thumbnailing limit ever be increased or removed entirely, the image should be reverted to the full-size original.
I've gone ahead and restored the original version. If you did have a specific reason to believe that that version should not be kept available to the public (not that I can think of any), feel free to re-delete it and please accept my apologies in advance. Anyway, sorry to take your time with this, and have a nice day. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 11:13, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- (Copied from my talk page:)
- In my current browser (Mozilla Firefox 3.0.something) the thumbnail came up with the 'grey warning screen' that it was not able to be rendered due to technical problems. I don't have any problems with the reset- as long as it's rendering correctly! SkierRMH (talk) 15:59, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, that's what MediaWiki does with images that are so big (over 12.5 megapixels) that it refuses to generate thumbnails for them. Ugly, but that's the way it's currently implemented. Clicking on the date link next to the gray box still gives you the full-size image, which your browser should display just fine. —Ilmari Karonen (talk) 19:30, 29 October 2008 (UTC)
Can you put Negima!? on a longer block? That article is really a big hot bed for vandalism for months after its last semi-protection. And I don't think three days of protection will cut it. editHi Skier Dude,
I am new to putting articles into Wikipedia, in fact this is my first one. So, please let me know what you think needs to change within the article in order to remove or mitigate the issues that are now listed for this article.
Sincerely,
4icnivad (talk) 15:55, 30 October 2008 (UTC)4icnivad
Skier Dude,
I like the Wikification things you did to the article to make it look better. Very cool, Thanks.
I added a citation reference to www.thefreelibrary.com, but not sure how to make the reference itself be visible in the reference section like the NY Times & Gift of Fame references. I also added the Johnny Grant reference. I have a photo of Carmine Goglia and Johnny Grant that I want to upload in the near future to solidify the reference & document the connection within the article. Cheers, 4icnivad (talk) 20:33, 1 November 2008 (UTC)
