Proposed deletion of The Line Madder

edit

The article The Line Madder has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-notable book published through an on-demand publisher. The synopsis is a copy-paste from elsewhere.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Apologies about The Line Madder

edit

I must apologize for having posted this article over at the talk page for ACTRIAL, as It seems that dozens of editors have pounced on it as a result. A trial has just been instigated that prevents non-autoconfirmed users (less than 10 edits and less than 4 days since account creation) from creating new articles. You started writing your article before ACTRIAL went live, but submitted it afterwards. As a result I asked about this oddity over at the project page, which several hundred editors are watching, and it seems that it has brought down a lot of scrutiny by a number of them onto your article. Unblock Request

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

I was blocked for a) having a promotion only page, and b) sockpuppeting. I have done none of these things. Though it is believed by the blocker that I have only made the page The Line Madder, I actually made minor edits to pages with names and references to mythology. That was not promotion. That was adding to the page in a way that the pages were intended for. Secondly, the reasons I am aware of that I was pegged for sockpuppetry are as follows. I have a similar name to another user (the offending matter is that the names included shiroi and kuroi, black and white. This is coincidental.) and there are other accounts that used the same IP to edit the page (and that IP belongs to a public computer). I am guilty of none of the offenses for which I have been banned from editing, and I would appreciate if I could be unblocked. I understand that many users are displeased with the page I created, but simply disliking a user and pulling invalid reasons out of a hat are not acceptable grounds for blocking someone. I have no more intentions of creating pages. I only want to edit current ones to make them better. However, I cannot do that due to this one user's bias. As well, I was not given even a single warning, though I've known of users in the past to get multiple for far worse offenses than mine. Thank you for your time. I hope you consider my request for unblocking so I may be able to contribute positively to Wikipedia.Shiroisnowflake (talk) 20:38, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

I took a look at your "minor edits": The Line Madder and The Line Madder. All your edits, excepting three to a project talk page, were related to promoting that book, and you clearly collaborate with the author in doing so. And you're telling us it's entirely a coincidence that all the people who argued that article should be kept, new editors with no other interests but this book, came from the same IP address? Sorry, I don't believe that. Huon (talk) 23:22, 17 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

The sockpuppetry has now been technically confirmed. Even if this were a public computer, any coincidence can be ruled out. User has admitted to making an offense. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 23:50, 18 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
