Tony Slydini

Hello, I am MagicianLives291. I have tried to change the birth date of Tony Slydini from 1901 to 1900. See video by Bill Wisch located here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujHm0hNYAD0&ab_channel=BillWisch It clearly shows the birth year is wrong. He was 90 years old when he died, not 89 as the article states. Also, Slydini was buried in Union, NJ not Orange, NJ as stated. This is explained in Bill's description of his Youtube video at Slydini's crypt.

It reads: Tony Slydini was more than a mentor and teacher to me; he was also my good friend. Upon learning that Slydini is featured on the cover of the August 2021 issue of Genii, I thought it would be a great time to visit Slydini's final resting place and make a video paying tribute to him. Apparently not many people know where his final resting place is as the burial ceremony was very private and only a few magicians attended, including Artie Miller and Gene Matsuura.

If you would like to pay your respects to Slydini in person, his final resting place is located at: Hollywood Memorial Park and Cemetery 1500 Stuyvesant Ave. Union, NJ 07083 Mausoleum of the Good Shepherd D Chapel-Unit B-Row 3 908-688-4300

Please revert changes back or advise on how to proceed to update Slydini's wikipedia article to state his true birth year, burial location and age upon death. Thank you.

Hello MagicianLives291, please use reliable sources, YouTube does not belong to it. In the Google search is the birth year 1901. --Serols (talk) 15:32, 24 July 2021 (UTC)
I have now updated references with the Genii Forum.... there is no better source. This includes a PHOTO OF THE GRAVESITE. This should NOT be changed back.... I have provided undeniable proof that Slydini was born in 1900 NOT 1901. Thank you. Jnana Yagnas edit to Tejomayananda and Chinmayananda Saraswati

I added this link as an explanation of Jnana Yagna and NOT as promotional material. I am not affiliated with https://chinmaya-sacramento.org/jnana-yagnas

Jnana Yagna is a very technical Sanskrit term and wanted to provide a reference to the same. Upon duckduckgo search you find that this is the first link that pops up with the most reasonable explanation of the term (please read through the link, no promotion involved on the page to the best of my reading) Emvy20 (talk) 17:33, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

if you have a better reference for Jnana Yagna I am happy to oblige! Bottomline it helps to provide a link to Jnana Yagna as it is a very technical term. Thank you Emvy20 (talk) 17:38, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Emvy20, please note Wikipedia:Weblinks. --Serols (talk) 17:40, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

I see the weblinks you sent but am missing the point of them. Are you implying they apply as references to help the term "Jnana Yagna"? Emvy20 (talk) 18:53, 17 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Emvy20, from here Wikipedia:External_links#Links_normally_to_be_avoided. --Serols (talk) 17:17, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Thank you Serols! this is helpful. The link added does NOT fall into the criteria of links to be avoided. Furthermore the link is from Chinmaya mission branch of Sacramento and actually Swami Chinmayananda and Tejomayananda are from this organization. So essentially the weblink falls in this category: "link to an official page of the article's subject". Hope this clarifies that this not a spam or a promotional edit. Happy to answer any other questions you may have! Emvy20 (talk) 18:36, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Hello Emvy20, please read also -> no links in the flowtext. Regards --Serols (talk) 18:40, 18 August 2021 (UTC)

Ok! I noticed you deleted my edits, so please add a external reference (as opposed to weblink) to the Jnana Yagna term yourself. It tremendously helps improve both the pages. Thank you.

Why are you stating Robert Rusler is openly bisexual?

Why are you stating Robert Rusler is openly bisexual? Just because his Facebook states he’s interested in men and women doesn’t mean he’s openly bisexual. It could be a mistake, or something we’re not privy too. I don’t think it’s wise to state he’s openly bisexual when there is no proof as that could be Libel. Please leave your reasoning on the talk page for Robert Rusler. Thank you. 107.3.228.215 (talk) 17:40, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

I need your help

Hello Serols:

I'm sending you this message because I need your help. I noticed that you fixed the erroneous edits of an anonymous user in the article called "Carme Forcadell". That user had changed Carme Forcadell's nationality from "Spanish" to "Catalan" and you corrected it.

That is why I ask for your help, because I have found the same problem in other articles: I corrected the nationality of other politicians who are also from Catalonia but my edits were reversed by another user. I ask you, please, to correct those nationality errors for me. I prefer not to do it again because I am concerned that if I insist my edits could be considered arbitrary.

The articles with that problem are as follows:

-Roger Torrent -Lluís Corominas -Joan Ignasi Elena -Laura Vilagrà -Violant Cervera -Gemma Geis i Carreras -Josep Bargalló -Elsa Artadi

The same problem again

Hello Serols:

Forgive me for bothering you again. But I have had the same problem as before with the "Spanish-Catalan" theme. This time it was in the article called "Antoni Gaudí". This time another user reversed my edit and it wasn't just that: the explanation he gave was that my edit was vandalism.

I don't understand why my edit was deemed vandalism!

I do not like to be arrogant, even I consider that I am still a user who has a lot to learn, but I do not understand why others revert an edition that is correct.

Please could you help me again?

Thanks Aziyade Gil (talk) 18:30, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello Aziyade Gil, Antoni Gaudí is a special case, see the article talk page Talk:Antoni_Gaudí. Unfortunately, I can not help. Regards --Serols (talk) 14:20, 11 September 2021 (UTC)

I already found the person who can help us with the problem of "Spanish-Catalan"

Hello Serols:

I have good news for you: I noticed that in the edit history of the article called Carme Forcadell another user had previously corrected an edit by someone who had made the same mistake that you corrected: the error of "Catalan" instead of "Spanish". That user is called Crystallizedcarbon and he is Spanish. He had a conversation with the user who had written "Catalan" and gave him good arguments to explain why the article should say "Spanish politician from Catalonia".

I think he is the ideal person to ask for help and a third opinion about that problem. I think that with him we will solve the problem.

Here is the link to the discussion page of the user Crystallizedcarbon and the conversation with the arguments that he gave to the other user.

Greetings

Iván Zarco

Hi @Serols:, you just reverted an IP edit at Iván Zarco, where the IP editor left an edit summary in Spanish. This is what it said via Google Translate: "There is bogus content in that text that I have deleted. I am Ivan Zarco, if you put the text again I will proceed to report you for false content that is causing family problems for publishing something totally false" This is obviously problematic because it shows a potential CoI (assuming the IP really is the person), as well as what verges on a threat. Given that the editor assumes we understand Spanish, it may be fairly futile posting an explanation in English on a talk-page they may not even find, but who knows? I leave it to your discretion. Just asking about calling Byzantine Empire Roman

Hello. I just did IP edits fixing the inconsistency on the articles about Byzantine dynasties, half say Byzantine and half say Roman. They called themselves Roman which is why I think Roman should be used (in the infobox long name only, Byzantine should be used elsewhere). I'm just wondering if you reverted my edits then why don't you at least change all the articles about the Byzantine dynasties that say "Roman Empire" back to Byzantine too, so there is consistency? Either that or let me change the ones that say Byzantine to Roman, you pick. SaturatedFatts (talk) 18:20, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello SaturatedFatts, please read Byzantine Empire and please note Wikipedia:Article_titles#Use_commonly_recognizable_names. Regards --Serols (talk) 18:24, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Hmm, I think "Roman Empire" is extremely recognizable, I'm not sure why you think that's the issue. The issue is consistency. Why do these articles say "Roman" and the ones you reverted say "Byzantine"? Byzantine Empire under the Justinian dynasty and Byzantine Empire under the Palaiologos dynasty SaturatedFatts (talk) 18:30, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello SaturatedFatts, I have said everything. --Serols (talk) 18:33, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Not very talkative I see. Well, I am going to edit the ones that say "Roman" to "Byzantine" since you don't allow me to edit the ones that say "Byzantine" to "Roman" and consistency is important here. Have a nice day. SaturatedFatts (talk) 18:35, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Hello SaturatedFatts, again, please note Wikipedia:Article_titles#Use_commonly_recognizable_names. --Serols (talk) 18:36, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, but I read it the first time you linked it. I've changed all the dynasties after the collapse of the Western Roman Empire to Byzantine, so it is recognizable AND consistent. SaturatedFatts (talk) 18:42, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Indians and +44

  1. Without context, "Indians" almost exclusively refers to Amerindians. The people of India are called "East Indians".
