@FAC coordinators: , @WP:FAR coordinators: , @WP:TFA coordinators ... User:SandyGeorgia/sandbox11 has a draft proposal for how to run new Coord selection. The proposal could be offered as part of a broader RFC, or tanked, or perhaps offered stand-alone as an RFC if we can come to consensus on something. I don't want to clog WT:FAC with this, as it could be a non-starter, and the page is already swamped, so putting it here for your consideration and feedback. FWIW, the latest TFA coord election was in July, at WT:Today's featured article/Archive 16#Announcement from the coordinators. - Dank (push to talk) 20:44, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Dank, my goal was a master list--- not to record all the comings and goings--- so I only listed date of first app't. I think that affects only Laser brain (who came and went several times) and you, but the idea is you are on the list, with date of first app't. Is there something else I missed ?? I'm not critiquing your list, I'm just giving people a link to the most recent TFA election, in case they want it. - Dank (push to talk) 21:44, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
OK, I thought you were asking me to add full service dates on everyone, which introduces complexity with Laser! SandyGeorgia (Talk) 21:57, 13 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Perhaps set some basic prerequisites (like x number of reviews, FAs etc.) for those announcing their candidacy to avoid unqualified nominations? We had this (a member with no previous writing/reviewing experience at FLC) at an FLC election so I'd like the members to query and vote for/against more qualified candidates. If any of you endorse the whole idea/format, we could work together into discussing other details like that ... # of FAs, number of reviews (at FAC and FAR), length of time participating, etc. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 12:45, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
PS, I had one FA when I was delegated, so ... we have to take care with absolute numbers ... one medical FA = a couple dozen in equivalent time and effort in many content areas. Maybe Mike Christie's fac stats tool, ratios, FAs to reviews would come in handy. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 12:47, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
I don't really have any strong opinions one way or another; coord selection is something I have spent very little time worried about because I've never had an issue with previous selections. I don't think there's any problem running this up the flagpole on WT:FAC, I just think it would do well as you mention to wait for a quieter point to get the most useful amount of attention. I would only propose running it up the flagpole in a broader RFC if no serious concerns emerge here ... and yes, not soon. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 16:37, 14 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
