– Recently Avago Technologies (AVGO) acquired Broadcom Corporation (BRCM). The combination of Avago and Broadcom Corporation was given a new name, Broadcom Limited but kept the AVGO ticker symbol. The former Avago article was renamed Broadcom Limited. Thus, there are two articles beginning Broadcom... about different but related entities. If you search for "Broadcom" only Broadcom Corporation comes up. This violates WP:BIAS. These moves resolve that bias. Talk to SageGreenRider 12:24, 10 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose "Broadcom" is the common name for the original corporation, and the primary topic for "Broadcom" is the original corporation. Per TWODABS, disambiguation in this case should be dealt with by hatnote, which I have already added to the article. --Regards, James(talk/contribs) 19:05, 10 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Comment When you claim "the primary topic for "Broadcom" is the original corporation" what evidence do you have? A reader who types "Broadcom" in the search box might be looking for the now defunct Broadcom Corporation (BRCM) or the surviving entity Broadcom Limited (AVGO) = Avago + Broadcom Corporation. I believe neither is primary over the other and so WP:TWODABS does not apply and the hat note on Broadcom imposes unwarranted WP:BIAS for Broadcom Corporation at the expense of Broadcom Limited.Talk to SageGreenRider 18:14, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per James; if these are "different but related entities", then they are not ambiguous; they are the subject of a circumstance that is capable of being described in an article, per WP:DABCONCEPT. bd2412 T 17:47, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
Comment The entities are quite distinct. What needs to be disambiguated is the word "Broadcom" which ambiguously refers to either Broadcom Corporation or Broadcom Limited Talk to SageGreenRider 18:14, 11 February 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Distinct in what way? Obviously, they have a common history. Are they engaged in very different lines of business? bd2412 T 22:20, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
  • Broadcom Limited is the new name for a company that used to be called Avago Technologies. Avago Technologies acquired Broadcom Corporation and in doing so the rights to the Broadcom "brand." They are in the semiconductor business. They are distinct from a corporate legal perspective. Talk to SageGreenRider 12:13, 8 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Removed PROD edit

I removed the PROD. BTW WP:TWODABS doesn't apply here because niether of the topics is primary over the other. Talk to SageGreenRider 15:27, 23 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

The article at Broadcom is by definition the primary topic. Even if Broadcom were a redirect to an article with different title, the same would be true. Disambiguation is best handled with a hatnote. This separate disambiguation page is not needed. olderwiser 15:45, 23 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
