Women in Red edit

Hi there, SDPLPauline, and welcome to Women in Red. It's good to hear you intend to host an editathon in your library. If you let us know where it is, we may be able to arrange for some assistance. As a new contributor, you can gain some basic experience in editing with The Wikipedia Adventure. You might find it useful to look at advice on How to run an editathon. If you are interested in creating biographies of women, it might be useful to follow our Ten Simple Rules. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 07:36, 23 February 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi and thanks for the welcome. I worked with San Diego Wikimedians User Group and RightCowLeftCoast to hold a small event at the San Diego Public Library. We had 4 attendees and while we had some IT difficulties, I'm hoping to run another in the future. We didn't get to edit as many pages as I'd like, simply because of those technical issues, but we did learn together on how to create an infobox. We added one to Storm Jameson's page and our patrons were happy with how easy it was to make a contribution. I'll work on getting more familiar with Wikipedia to facilitate more streamlined programs in the future. (And I really do appreciate the offer of assistance, while I didn't ask this time, I'll be sure to ask for help next time I need it. Thanks.) --SDPLPauline (talk) 22:38, 29 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

User rights changes edit

Hi SDPLPauline, as the email you sent us (#2022041010000119) confirms your identity, I've gone ahead and added the following user rights to your account:

Unfortunately these are unlikely to help with the underlying IP blocks, but will hopefully make running the events a little easier. We'll get back to you shortly about figuring out how to proceed with the IP range block issue 🙂 ~TNT (talk • she/her) 17:44, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply

IP block for Edit-a-Thon edit

Hello,

I've noticed your task T335236 for the edit-a-thon.

While we can certainly increase the account limit in the configuration, account creation needs to be allowed for your IP range, ie not blocked here.

Please request an adjustment of the block for your event, I'd suggest perhaps keeping the anonymous only but allowing account creation to be optimal.

You can ask User:Materialscientist perhaps as it puts the block first? If they aren't available, you can also use Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard I think. Dereckson (talk) 09:10, 23 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you. I've left a message on their talk page, as it seems they've edited recently. I appreciate the advice. --SDPLPauline (talk) 15:28, 24 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Women in Red 8th Anniversary edit

  Women in Red 8th Anniversary
In July 2015 around 15.5% of the English Wikipedia's biographies were about women. As of July 2023, 19.61% of the English Wikipedia's biographies are about women. That's a lot of biographies created in the effort to close the gender gap. Happy 8th Anniversary! Join us for some virtual cake and add comments or memories and please keep on editing to close the gap!

DYK for Chollas Creek edit

On 11 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Chollas Creek, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that a California sea lion, later named Freeway, was thought to have traveled up Chollas Creek (pictured) before getting onto California State Highway 94? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Chollas Creek. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Chollas Creek), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Replaceable non-free use File:Headshot of Fidel A. Vargas.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Headshot of Fidel A. Vargas.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 09:36, 26 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
