Taxonomy and classification

edit

Hello Rynchops niger 1998, thank you for your many new contributions and corrections to bird articles since joining Wikipedia. I hope you will continue to stay and add to the project. A note for you when adding or changing classifications of bird taxa, there are several recognized authorities and many use different classification schemes than each other. As these schemes are not fixed and change to reflect newly published information, this can cause a lot of confusion among readers. To keep it all consistent between pages, the IOC has been agreed on to be used as the authority for taxonomy and classification in bird articles. The relevant discussion can be found here. Hope this helps. 'Cheers Loopy30 (talk) 17:07, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
