Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Iwama style has been reverted.
Your edit here to Iwama style was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4h458llSqG8&feature=youtu.be) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. music or video) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Re: Nimitta

edit
Established as a separate article from Dhyana. Not only is Nimitta a distinct and important philosophical concept in Buddhism, but Anayalo suggests even as a meditation it is unrelated to Dhyana.

Your edit summary makes no sense. Firstly, nimitta was redirected to Dhyana in Buddhism because that's where it was discussed, in other words, in the context of an article about jhāna. Secondly, you yourself discuss it in the context of jhāna in the new page you created. So saying it is "unrelated" is a very poor choice of words. I have no objection to your new article, but this kind of edit summary is frustrating to me. Viriditas (talk) 06:14, 12 February 2024 (UTC)Reply

By there being no relation as a form of mediation, I mean that Animitta-samadhi has nothing to do with Jhana. It is not, in the Pali/Chinese scriptures, a description of sensations on the way to Jhana (though the word used could certainly be used that way, in the scriptures words like "light" is used instead), nor does it apparently require attaining Jhana to practice.
I do include the use of Nimitta in Therevada commentary in the article as referring to lights seen before Jhana because practitioners of that meditation tradition would be familiar with the word that way, but this is actually a relatively minor use of the word and should by no means be the only way the topic is addressed on Wikipedia.
