Harry Meacher is a British actor and director.

= Biography =

I have rewritten to try to demonstrate notability, and have checked articles on entirely comparable British actors and satisfied myself that such articles exist on Wikipedia.

I have listed source references, though I lack the expertise to 'hide' them in Wikipedia fashion. (Documentary references for actors' careers can in their nature be tricky.)

Do please help me to get this right, I would be so grateful for a response in simple language.

If you want to prevent search engines like Google from indexing this page then you can also place the magic word __NOINDEX__ on it (without the nowiki tags I used in the source here). Mike Walker

Your recent edit to Mike Walker is interesting – how do you know this? But if Joan O'Norman was given in the on-air and Radio Times cast credits then wouldn't it be better to leave Joan O'Norman in the cast (unlinked) with a note? E.g.

Joan O'Norman <ref group=Note>Joan O'Norman was included in the cast credits but is an anagram of [[Joanna Monro]] used to conceal one "character" being a disguise</ref>

I think maybe the wording of the end of the note could be improved.

Thanks for that. I know it because I heard the dramatisation as well as being familiar with the short story, which is of course freely available and will confirm that the "two" characters are one. I do not remember what they did in the spoken credits at the end of the programme, when there was no further need to protect the ending. I do remember that in a comparable situation when anagrams were used for characters' identical twins, the announcer said "Cristo Luvac (an anagram of Victor Lucas)" and "Jonah Sendy (an anagram of Haydn Jones")". That may have happened in this case. You may well be right about doing the equivalent on Wikipedia.

Gordon Griffin

I spotted your note on Bearcat's page and have done a bit of work on the draft. If you're going to cite a newspaper article, you need to keep the cutting so that you can give date, page, article title - just as if you were writing a book or essay. I found it online. I've also found the MBE on the London Gazette - it's quite straightforward once you find out how to do it, though I've only just found a couple of the short cuts! Ditto the BFI database, which I hope counts as "Reliable" in a way that IBMD doesn't. But book sources are perfectly legitimate too: you just need to give more detail - author, title, publisher, ISBN, and page number for the specific fact you're citing. There are also quite a few links which lead to disambiguation pages - I have a "gadget" which paints them orange, which is really helpful (go to "Prefrences", "Gadgets" and look near the bottom of "Appearance", then tick the box). Hmm, I've tagged the links which go to disambiguation pages ... but have you checked all your other links to make sure that they go to the article you intend, and not another film or person of the same name? Worth doing. PamD 09:24, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

And another useful gadget, if it isn't included by default, is "Navigation popups: article previews and editing functions pop up when hovering over links" (in "Preferences", "Gadgets", "Browsing") - so you can quickly check that a link looks right by hovering over it, rather than clicking and waiting for it to load. Just to be clear, the process going forward doesn't require that I have to personally come back and approve the changes — note, for example, that the prior reviews weren't all by the same editor, but rather each time has been a different one. If you or PamD are satisfied that the new changes are sufficient, either of you can just hit the "resubmit" button at the bottom of my rejection message, and the article will be readded to the queue and anybody who works with the AFC project will have the opportunity to review it.
