July 2020 edit

You continue to add unsourced material and personal biographical information to articles despite the warning above and are using misleading edit summaries to do so. If this continues, you will be blocked from editing so please ensure you review the links provided.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 18:28, 20 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hey Ponyo, there are some misleading information on some pages that I had to change like DJ Enimoney being from Edo State. This clearly shows that u know absolutely nothing about Nigeria. Renato42 (talk) 21:44, 20 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

You don't need to know anything about Nigeria to edit Wikipedia. What you do need to know is our policies and guidelines regarding reliable sourcing, especially when editing biography articles. I see restored the unsourced date here, again using a misleading edit summary ("fixed typo"). If you continue to do so, you will be blocked from editing.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:46, 21 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Poor sourcing edit

You've been blocked twice for adding unsourced personal information to WP:BLPs. While I appreciate that you have made the effort to now add sources, it doesn't mean that you can avoid further sanctions by adding any source you find on the internet to articles - the source needs to meet reliable sourcing requirements (←please read the information in this link). Reliable sources have a reputation for editorial oversight and fact checking, "famousbirthdays.com" does not meet the criteria, nor do similar compendia-type websites such as IMDb and the like.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 21:06, 14 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for the persistent addition of poorly sourced personal information to biography articles despite previous blocks and warnings. You can be unblocked when you post an appropriate appeal that demonstrates that you understand the difference between websites posting unreliable information and Wikipedia's definition of a reliable source.

Decline reason:

Responses to follow up questions are unsatisfactory. Please study WP:RS more thoroughly. I would suggest any further unblock request should identify both a) a definition for a reliable source, b) examples of reliable sources for rap music and biographies, and c) examples of sources that are not reliable for those two topics. If you want to go the extra mile, find an example of a source that is reliable for one kind of claim but not another. signed, Rosguill talk 22:03, 16 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have been blocked from editing Wikipedia for a few months now for poor sourcing and I have taken my time to understand a reliable source. A reliable source is a material that is vetted and well-regarded as trustworthy by a scholarly community and it's articles cannot be easily edited or tampered with. Examples of reliable sources for rap music include Rap Radar and The Source while unreliable sources for rap music include Mugshots or Famous birthdays as well as Facebook posts, etc Renato42 (talk) 09:01, 17 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom 2021 Elections voter message edit

Hello! Voting in the 2021 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 6 December 2021. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2021 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:57, 23 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please kindly read the information provided in the references on guchi's page. She claimed to be 22 in an April 2019 interview and since her birthday falls in November, she was definitely born in 1996 instead of the 1997 listed on her page. Renato42 (talk) 19:16, 5 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

She also claimed to have been born in Kaduna but raised in Abuja. See reference link 1 for verification Renato42 (talk) 19:24, 5 March 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hi Renato42, I came here to ask where you got that birth date from. As you say, the preponderance of sources have her born in Kaduna, and in one interview she mentions her grandparents living in Imo State; but both the birth date you added and the one it replaced were unreferenced, and I didn't find a reference for her birth date. It's important to cite a reference for all information in a biography of a living person, especially personal info like that; and if there's only one hard-to-find source for a birth date, it should be left out anyway on privacy grounds. I've now removed the birth date and replaced it with the 2 possible years. But if you have a link to a newspaper article where she states it, or about someone tweeting wishes for her 24th birthday on a specific date, then please share. Answer needed edit

In these edits: First of all, while it looks like you're right about his full name being Adebowale David Ibrahim Adedayo, it's not okay to add a full name for someone with a citation to a reliable source, and given your previous block and unblock, you should know that by now. More importantly, though, what gave you the idea that his date of birth is 1983? Given your past warnings for falsifying statements, including birthdates, I'm afraid I need to insist on an answer this time. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 23:07, 21 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the Omah Lah's issue, that's the age he has claimed since he blew up so I don't see the problem here.[1] The 19 May 1997 birthday has been on his page for long so I didn't understand why it became a problem now since it is his actual birthdate. White money also celebrated his 31st birthday on the 6th of June, you can check his social media handles for verification. And the Scottish Reddish guy joined Wikipedia last year so I wasn't quite sure if he was one of the top editors. I've edited several pages here with right sources for the past year or two also. Your comment about "top editors" suggests that you don't understand how Wikipedia works. You don't get to ignore policies until an administrator or "top user" (whatever that is) tells you to stop. Over the past two days I have looked at the referencing for beginners, and I have come to realize that I shouldn't have edited pages based on mere rumours or personal beliefs. Every edit should have a reliable source backing it up, and I know that given my previous blocks in the past I should have known better, but we all tend to make mistakes that we must learn from. That being said, what's happened has happened and it is indeed an eye opener for me going forward, I promise to not make mistakes like this anymore if my block can be reversed, and I would also love to continue to contribute to Wikipedia in the best way I can. I await a positive response from you all. Thanks.
