  • I recommend that you do not attempt to write new pages until you have become experienced at adding content, and improving existing pages. Start with pages related to what you would like to write about. Add mentions in other articles. If the mentions stick, then your topic might be welcome. If you cannot find any other page on which your topic is worth a mention, then it is likely not going to be welcome. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 06:55, 2 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Embrylopez

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Embrylopez, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Any user account should represent an individual and not a group (and an individual should normally only have one user account; see next section). Sharing an account – or the password to an account – with others is not permitted, and evidence of doing so will result in the user being required to stop the practice and change their password, or in sanctions (up to and including the account being blocked), depending on circumstances. --Deepfriedokra (talk) 07:29, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hello,
I am now aware of the reason that I was blocked back in 2018. I was trying to make a page about myself but did not know about the GeneralNotability guide lines. I now know know the guidelines and will not try to make a page about myself again, and will make useful contributions to Wikipedia. {{unblock}} Embry Lopez 23:48, 28 June 2022 (UTC)
Hello Deepfriedokra,
Thanks for getting back to me. Just clarify, no one has access to my account, when I say team, I had someone who has their "own" account and knowledge in properly creating a wiki page make a draft about the nobility of "Embry Lopez" as I have done notable work since my page was created in 2018. However, since my page was blocked the draft was automatically denied. When I first made my page in 2018, I used my own website as a reference and had weak references with close to no mentions in the articles, since then for example my images have won awards, and I have credible mentions on mainstream media regarding my photography work. I'm not trying to self promote. For example if you look up Brian Bowen Smith he is a living person who has done notable work in photography. Below is what the other user put together in his draft about Embry Lopez. I ask that you guys give me another chance in fixing my original errors back in 2018. Please let me know your thoughts here.
Embry Lopez (born December 17, 1980) is an American photographer best known for his portraits, particularly of celebrities. [2]
Career
Lopez has photographed for The Wrap magazine[3][4][5] and for actors such as JB Smoove with Curb Your Enthusiasm, Jim Gaffigan with American Dreamer, Ryan Michelle Bath with First Wives Club, Zach Villa with American Horror Story, Giancarlo Esposito with The Mandalorian, Camilla Morrone and James badge Dale with Micky and The Bear. Other artists that he has worked under include Annie Leibovitz, Norman Jean Roy, Mark Seliger, Stephane Sednaoui, and Carlos Serrao.[2] He also photographed Katie Cleary, an animal rights activist for Genlux Magazine.[6]
Lopez's shot of JB Smoove was nominated in the Portrait Photo category for the 2021 SoCal Journalism Awards.[7]

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 13:38, 15 June 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I did not know the rules of Wikipedia when I first created my account. I tried to make an article on myself which is considered self promotion and self advertising, and is considered spam, and against the rules of Wikipedia. However, I have read and understand the rules regarding making articles on oneself, and understand that this behavior will not be tolerated. I will never attempt to make an article on myself again, or attempt any kind of spamming in the future. I truly would like to start doing small edits and contribute to the Wikipedia community. I think it’s a great source of information, and would love to be part of it. Embry Lopez 3:57 pm, 14 November 2023, Tuesday (1 month, 27 days ago) (UTC−5)

Thank you, I will not break the rules again. Embry Lopez 01:30, 11 January 2024 (UTC)

Custom signature fix needed

edit

Hi there! You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Changes to Wikipedia's software have made your current custom signature invalid.

The problem: Your signature contains a syntax error or obsolete HTML tags.

The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, you can fix your signature, or you can do nothing.

Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
  3. Remove anything in the Signature: text box.
  4. Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (Do not click the red "Restore all default settings" button, which will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)

Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:

  1. Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
  2. Click the Learn more button next to the error to learn how to fix the error.
  3. Update your signature to fix the error.
  4. Click Save to update to your newly fixed signature.

Solution 3: Do nothing:

  1. In accordance with a recent request for comment, all invalid signatures will be changed to the default, which looks like "Example (talk)", one month from now.

If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:05, 2 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
