Speedy deletion nomination of User:Thiaoouba Prophecy

edit

A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Thiaoouba Prophecy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be advertising which only promotes or publicises someone or something. Promotional editing of any kind is not permitted, whether it be promotion of a person, company, product, group, service, belief, or anything else. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. This page is not unambiguously promotional, because it is not promoting anything to anyone --User:Thiaoouba Prophecy (talk) 22:40, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your username

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "Thiaoouba Prophecy", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are permitted to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, service, or website, regardless of your username. Please also read our paid editing policy and our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please request a change of username by completing the form at Special:GlobalRenameRequest, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. S0091 (talk) 22:48, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

The username "Thiaoouba Prophecy" is not a name for any company, group, organization, product, service, or website. Therefore, I believe it complies with the username policy. If you think otherwise, then I will have to change it to "Thiaoouba". Let me know what you think about it.

As I stated in my reply on my talk page, a book is a product. S0091 (talk) 23:02, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

I am not the author as the author, Michel Desmarquet, has long passed away. I am simply a reader of the book. I am simply inspired by the book and that's why I wrote the article. I have no interest in the book at all. There is no conflict of interest at all.

Fair enough but you do still need to change your name as the book is a product. Also, your User page is not an article. It is for writing about your interests and activities as they relate to Wikipedia. If you do want to submit an article, please read Your first article. If you have questions or need help, you can ask at the Teahouse. S0091 (talk) 23:13, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Do you think if the username "Reader of Thiaoouba Prophecy" would work?

Perfect! "Fan of..." is also acceptable. It just needs to be clear you are an individual. S0091 (talk) 23:22, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Great! I will request the change right now.

Apologies for the rough start here. Wikipedia just gets so much promotion/spam and innocent people sometimes get caught in the fray. Your communication is appreciated. S0091 (talk) 23:37, 13 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
