February 2011 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page Scott Parker (actor) has been reverted.
Your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline from Wikipedia. The external link you added or changed is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. I removed the following link(s): http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1508898573966&set=a.1474473553362.60212.1579383522&theater. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. an image file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy and therefore probably should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Conflict of interest edit

Hello Publicist01. If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Scott Parker (actor), you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about following the reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 19:52, 25 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

I did not add any information. It has been there for some time without any problem. I simply put back what was already there. I need to understand who you people are that continue to vandalize Mr. Parker's entry. Are you Wikipedia Officials or just vandals? Publicist01 (talk) 11:44, 26 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

The individuals posting to this page (including myself) are not vandals, we are experienced Wikipedia editors who have been trying to explain to you why your edits (and those of related IP 71.76.184.94 and IP 71.76.191.0 do not conform to Wikipedia policy (you can learn more about any individual editor by visiting their user page - mine is here). Have you read any of the messages on this talk page and followed the links to the policy pages included in the messages? I strongly suggest you do so as many of your questions will be answered. In a nutshell, Wikipedia is not a venue to write and maintain a promotional/marketing piece on your client - we have strict policies with regard to promotional edits, maintaining neutrality within an article, and ensuring that the information included in the article is backed up by reliable independent sources. As the article stands now it meets all of those requirements - the version you continue to restore does not, which is why it has been repeatedly removed. August 2011 edit

I'll modify Mr. Parker's article and try my best to comply. You must understand my shock to see that after months of the article being there, a couple of strangers decided to cut his article down to almost nothing. It's not my desire to be troublesome, it just looked like a clear case of vandalism. After I finish revising it, what should I do then? Re-post it and hope for the best? Thanks. Publicist01 (talk) 19:37, 26 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

You should not be editing the article as it is your job as a publicist to publicize your client, which is contravenes Wikipedia's policies on self-promotion. If there is a factual error in the article, or specific role information that is missing, then you can note it on the talk page and an uninvolved editor will update the article. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 19:44, 30 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

August 2011 edit

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Scott Parker (actor). While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. Proposed deletion of Gunsplaining edit

The article Gunsplaining has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Doubtful this could be more than a dictionary definition. (Also has been used before it's claimed in the article.)

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ... discospinster talk 23:19, 23 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Gunsplaining edit

A11/G11 - created to promote Scott Parker, as creator is a promotion-only account

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. September 2018 edit

As previously advised, your edits give the impression you have a financial stake in promoting a topic, such as the edit you made to Scott Parker (actor), but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. You were asked to cease editing until you responded by either stating that you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits, or by complying with the mandatory requirements under the Wikimedia Terms of Use that you disclose your employer, client and affiliation. Again, you can post such a disclosure on your user page at User:Publicist01, and the template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Publicist01|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. Please respond before making any other edits to Wikipedia. Melcous (talk) 21:42, 25 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your message. Can you please explain what your relationship to Scott Parker is? Melcous (talk) 22:18, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Scott Parker is "Publicist". Just a name I chose in the beginning. Seemed fitting. Just trying to put in information that would be of interest to fans, directors, casting people, etc.

Ok, thanks for explaining that. The answer to your questions then is no, you may not edit the article yourself as you have a clear conflict of interest. You should also note that you do not "own" the article and the aim of the article is not to provide a biography for casting people or directors - you should use your own website or another avenue for that. If there is information in the article that is incorrect or missing, you may propose changes on the talk page and the easiest way to do that is to use the Template:Edit request. You should make sure you point to reliable, independent secondary sources for any content you wish to suggest be added. Thank you, Melcous (talk) 11:11, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

A proposed addition edit

{{request edit}} Proposing the addition of a list of Film Festival Awards. The films are linked to IMDb and the awards to their sites. Publicist01 (talk) 12:52, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

As Melcous explained in their earlier post, the {{Request edit}} template is to be used on the talk page of the article in question. Your own talk page would not apply. Feel free to use it in the talk page of the article in question. Hope this clarifies things. Thank you.  Spintendo  17:33, 27 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

I've no idea what any of that means. Sorry, but this is a world in which simple communication is non-existent. Please just tell me "Yes" or "No". If no, since this information has sources, why not. Thank you.

Sorry, but it's not that hard. The article has its own talk page, make the request there. Also, you need to learn to sign your posts. Finally, IMDb is not considered a reliable source here because the content can be edited by anyone. We are all volunteers here, so if you want to participate in this project then you will need to take the time to learn the basics and not expect others to do things for you. But if you are only here to promote yourself then you are in the wrong place, and no one is going to help you do that. Melcous (talk) 06:38, 28 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
