  Hello. Regarding the recent revert you made: you may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. Thank you. RE: this revert Waddie96 (talk) 17:08, 2 May 2018 (UTC)

Help!

When I use {{Dashboard grouping}} this happens.

example, open this up
This is not supposed to go here, open this up for continued help request

I want the second dashboard grouping below the first one, not in it, and that doesn’t happen. That’s why the rest of the help request is within this section. How do I fix this? Porkchop Jr. 22:58, 22 June 2018 (UTC)

The {{Dashboard grouping}} does not close the table it starts. There is a closure in the source code, but it only takes effect when the template is not included (<noinclude>). In looking at some other examples, I see that one way to handle this is to end the scope of the {{dashboard grouping}} with a {{collapse bottom}}. I've inserted the additional collapse bottom directives in your sample code and I think it fixes the problem you were complaining about. I sure there are other ways to achieve this, but collapse bottom is widely enough used that it may be the preferred way to close the range of the grouping. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 01:24, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
Ok, thanks! Porkchop Jr. 01:27, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
@Jmcgnh: I was mainly using {{dashboard grouping}} to make my own dashboard template User:Porkchop Jr./sandbox/dashboard and i was having problems with it, so that’s why I asked this question. Thanks again! Porkchop Jr. 01:41, 23 June 2018 (UTC)

How about you make it so Ok and ok go to Okay but OK goes to Oklahoma? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.57.181.170 (talk) 13:39, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

Trying to make defcon template

The below was on the Teahouse but then I decided to help me it instead. PorkchopGMX 04:12, 7 October 2018 (UTC) So I’m trying to make a defcon template hurricane style User:PorkchopGMX/sandbox/hurricanedefcon and the switch template won’t switch the file when the level corresponds, for example when the defcon goes to level 3 it’s supposed to display this image but instead when you click on it, it leads to just .png and that’s not what’s supposed to happen. Does anybody know to help? By the way I’m getting much of this code from Template:Vandalism information/styles/default. PorkchopGMX 03:20, 7 October 2018 (UTC)

Actually now it looks like that it’s ignoring the switch template entirely. PorkchopGMX 04:06, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
Also how do I make it like when the defcon is level 5, that is category 1 here? And level 1 is Category 5, vice versa. PorkchopGMX 05:30, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
I made the level param in the switch the same as the level params you were using earlier and I think that solves the image selection problem you were seeing.
You can do math on params to invert the numbering but it might be clearer to use another #switch. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 06:25, 7 October 2018 (UTC)
@Jmcgnh::How do I do that? I’ve added a temporary to do list on the page, which are the remaining things to do with the template. PorkchopGMX 00:45, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
Since you only need to change the number being display for "Category", I think you would replace
Category {{User:{{{name|EnterpriseyBot}}}/defcon|level}}
in your current code with
Category {{#expr: 6 - {{User:{{{name|EnterpriseyBot}}}/defcon|level}}}}
The rest of the code can continue with the existing numbering for level. But I admit I'm going cross-eyed on all the curly braces involved, so I may not have it quite right. I tried it out on your sandbox version, and it seemed to work (had to temporarily use 7 instead of 6 to verify that it did something, since level 3 translates to category 3 in this scheme and we seem to currently be at level 3). — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 03:13, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
@Jmcgnh: (edit conflict) one more thing, When I try to use any style it comes out like {{Vandalism information|prefix=box}} or {{Vandalism information|prefix=Hurricane}}, with the prefix as the beginning of the template name. What is going on? PorkchopGMX 21:18, 8 October 2018 (UTC)
Not quite sure why you are using those calls. {{Vandalism information|style=hurricane}} seems to work here. There's a redirect from {{Defcon}} to {{Vandalism information}} that makes things a little less straightforward than they might otherwise be. Capitalization matters on subpages in ways it does not for main pages. It also looks like you need to close the Wikitable. It was gobbling up any text I put after the template call. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 04:48, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

Ur browser

Its not the 1 MB of text at Talk EEng that made your browser to crash/become unresponsive it is the humongous amount of embedded images there. I dread clicking that link again. So much so, that I even dropped the idea of posting an archive suggestion.--DBigXray 16:39, 28 November 2018 (UTC)

Help request

So, i'm working on a new userpage at User:PorkchopGMX/new userpage, and the boxes on the right are big and there's some blank space. Does it have to do with the span badge or the clears that i put or the {{flex columns}}? PorkchopGMX (Sign your posts with four tildes!) 16:02, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

I'm pretty sure the flex columns make the boxes large. The white space at the top of the right column is due to the {{-}}. Huon (talk) 16:55, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
Ok, but the problem is the big boxes. I might have to switch to some different template entirely. PorkchopGMX (Sign your posts with four tildes!) 18:15, 6 December 2018 (UTC)

do i need to use a different formatting?

On User:PorkchopGMX/new userpage the flex columns make the boxes on the left and right the same size, which is a problem because there's this blank space left that i don't need. I might have to switch to a different formatting template, because flex is supposed to do that. Like how it's formatted on Main Page, can you help to get this blank space out? PorkchopGMX (Sign your posts with four tildes!) 15:16, 7 December 2018 (UTC)

Here you are. Huon (talk) 22:26, 7 December 2018 (UTC)
