Hello Physik, welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Your recent edit to Jim Carrey was reverted because of fair use concerns. The picture of Mr. Carrey taken at a press conference is a free image that someone uploaded to Wikipedia; the Bruce Almighty movie poster is a copyrighted image that could only be used under fair use to identify the movie itself. Similarly, an album cover with a picture of an artist could only be used to identify that album, not the artist. Thanks for doing your best to improve the article, and continue to be bold in editing and contributing. Fair use image policies are pretty complicated and take some time to understand. Our intro page contains a lot of helpful material for new users - please check it out! If you need help, visit Wikipedia:Questions or place {{helpme}} on this page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. bwowen T/C 02:56, 23 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your edits to Thr3e (film) edit

As far as I can tell, everything points to the film being released in 2007, not 2006. I haven't seen it, but I'd go with what our external links say. If you have something that says that's not true, please provide a link. Leebo T/C 13:27, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

It may have been made in 2006, but it premiered in January 2007. Movies are categorized chronologically according to the year they premiered or were released, not the year they were made, since some movies may spend years in production or have long gaps between production and release. Leebo T/C 16:08, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
I can't get to IMDb from this computer due to filters, but this page at the Rotten Tomatoes site says that the film was released to theaters on January 5, 2007 in a limited run (which usually means a couple cities). What do you mean by "it was not even in theaters January 2007."? Leebo T/C 18:53, 25 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

My page edit

I see you've adapted some of my user page items for your own use. Like it says on my page, that's perfectly fine.

On another note, moving your user page from User:Physik to User:Dude is not the way you change names. There already is a user named Dude. If you want to actually change your name to something else (rather than take an existing user's user page), you can go to Wikipedia:Changing username. Leebo T/C 16:58, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Perhaps you missed it when I mentioned it before, but unless you can log in as User:Dude, stop editing that user's user page. You cannot take another user's page as your own, especially since the account User:Dude exists and you are still User:Physik. Leebo T/C 15:03, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you want to change your name, go to Wikipedia:Changing username. I'll ask an administrator to return your user page back to User:Physik in the meantime. Leebo T/C 15:07, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply
I have restored your user page to its correct location. As Leebo says, you have to use the proper procedure for changing user names. If your request to change name is approved, the pages will be moved accordingly. Please don't do the move yourself. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 15:25, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Fair use images on your use page edit

Wikipedia:Non-free content is the policy which governs how fair-use images can be used in Wikipedia. Fair use images, such as the Star Wars logo, cannot be used on Wikipedian's user pages (or in their user space in general), only on encyclopedia articles for which a strong fair-use case exists, and has been explicitly made. Accordingly I have removed this image from your user page. You also had three unsourced images, which also appear to be fair use, but for which no source has been given. Until an adequate source has been given, we have to assume they're also copyrighted works and accordingly cannot be used on your user page. So I've removed them too. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 15:30, 10 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disruption edit

You've already been told how to change your username, but again you've ignored that and just moved your user pages through a bizarre sequence today, through User talk:Red Leader, User talk:Red-Leader, and User:Maddmman2002. DO NOT DO THAT - you just make work for others tidying up after you. I have again had to move your pages back to their correct positions. A review of your contributions shows little evidence that you are at all interested in helping us build a free encyclopedia, but instead you're concerned only with repeatedly violating our copyright policy and harassing other users. Today's pagemove nonsense is more disruption - if you continue to abuse Wikipedia in this manner, you'll be permanently blocked. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 20:18, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your question about adminship edit

About the question you posted to Wikipedia talk:Requests for adminship, I removed it from the Talk page and am replying to you here. You have to apply for adminship by following the proper procedure at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship. However, I strongly recommend that you do not apply now because you will most likely fail to pass the nomination at this time. You do not currently have enough experience editing Wikipedia to become an admin. I recommend that you spend a several months editing and being productive here. Your block for vandalism and personal attacks do not help your chances at passing at RfA, so you will need to work hard prove that you are a reliable and trustworthy editor. -- Gogo Dodo 17:23, 26 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

A voter at RfA will frequently have several criteria such as demonstrated familiarity with Wikipedia policies, a history of civility with even the most difficult editors, and a visible need for admin tools. You should check out Wikipedia:Guide to requests for adminship and Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Standards to see specifically what people look for in a potential admin. While you have been here a while, you have edited relatively little, and so voters will not see a need for admin tools or adequate history to be sure you understand our policies. There's tons to do here that doesn't require admin tools; believe me, they're not actually that special. — Laura Scudder 15:15, 5 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Unspecified source for Image:Scary_Movie_5.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Scary_Movie_5.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:32, 28 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 21:32, 28 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Re: Admin edit

I am an admin. You can verify this here or see my successful request for adminship. Leebo T/C 13:28, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Only bureaucrats can make another user an administrator, and this is almost exclusively through the requests for adminship process. As others have said, I think you should refrain from requesting adminship at this time, since you do not have sufficient experience in administrative areas of Wikipedia. Leebo T/C 13:34, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you read my request for adminship you will see that another user, Merope, felt I was qualified to be an administrator and offered to nominate me. After I answered the questions on the RfA form, other users commented and enough supported my request that a bureaucrat made me an administrator. If you mean "how" as in "how did I gain the experience", read the answers to my questions in the request. Leebo T/C 13:38, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's unlikely that your request would succeed as of right now, because you have a small number of edits and very few are to the encyclopedia or administrative area. Most are to your user page. I would advise reading the page that describes what admins do to see why you would likely not be ready to fulfill these tasks. Leebo T/C 13:45, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I've been a regular editor with this username since December 2006, though I edited anonymously from several different IP addresses before registering. I can't really answer the second part of your question, because I am not a bureaucrat and do not see myself wishing to take on that role in the foreseeable future. Nonsense of Nolan Byrd edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Nolan Byrd, by Euryalus (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. Adminship edit

Physik, the proper venue for requesting adminship is WP:RFA--Cronholm144 20:47, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Physik, can I ask you to stop your disruptive behavior? You have been approached numerous times about it, and if it continues, it will have to be prevented, via a block. --Evilclown93 21:00, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I just wanted to become an admin

I'm sorry, but the community doesn't want to grant you the tools. Think of it as a job interview. You are either hired or not hired, and in this case you haven't been hired, and you behavior is borderline harassment. --Evilclown93 21:06, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
If you wish to become an admin, please read through the guide to requests for adminship and act upon its suggestions. If you continue to cause disruption, you are likely to be blocked. This will most definitely not aid you in becoming an administrator. Also, please bear in mind that adminship is neither a trophy nor a game. It should not be an overall target, only...well...administrative. ck lostswordTC 21:08, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

then can i be a buracrat

Bureaucrats require a higher level of trust than administrators. Are you actually familiar with what these tasks entail? Leebo T/C 21:11, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
No: if the community does not wish grant you the mop, it is highly unlikely that they will give you the keys to the cupboard. ck lostswordTC 21:11, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Your most recent attempt to add your name to WP:RFA was reverted by another editor. The reversion can be justified for technical reasons alone. It was mal-formed in that it did not do the transclusion properly. It also attempted to transclude a non-existent RFA page. If you cannot read, understand and follow the directions at WP:RFA, you have no hope of being granted adminship as adminship entails the ability to read, understand and follow a number of detailed, technical instructions. They don't require a lot of knowledge or intelligence. They do require the ability to read carefully and follow instructions.

Also, as I have explained in response to your message on WT:RFA, you do not meet the experience criteria of most RFA voters. Please stop wasting your time asking for adminship and focus on becoming a valued member of the community. Further efforts at WP:RFA at this time will probably lead to you being blocked for being disruptive.

Please read Iamunknown's excellent advice below. I look forward to you coming back someday and submitting a successful RFA.

Greetings edit

Greetings, Physik! I see you want to become an administrator. Note that many Wikipedians have high expectations of administrators. Some want them to be excellent article writers. I notice that contributed very much to articles. If you are familiar with a topic and would like to contribute, feel free to ask me at my talk page or others at the Wikipedia:Drawing board.

Additionally, some want administrators to be familiar with copyrights. I notice that you have uploaded many images that were later challenged. Make sure to read Wikipedia:Copyrights, Wikipedia:Non-free content and Wikipedia:Image use policy. If you have any questions or don't understand anything (as it is confusing!), ask me or go to Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Finally, just edit and enjoy Wikipedia! Adminship is not a big deal, and should not be viewed as a trophy. I have been on Wikipedia for almost three years, and yet I am not an administrator. Just edit, learn, fight vandalism (see Wikipedia:Cleaning up vandalism for ideas on how to help) and keep contributing to Wikipedia. You may eventually earn others' trust and someone may nominate you! --Iamunknown 21:23, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

...make sure to sign your posts! Just type four tildes ~~~~ after you type, and it will expand into a signature pointing to User:Physik. See Wikipedia:Signatures#How to sign your posts for more information. --Iamunknown 21:36, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Leebo's RFA edit

On User talk:Iamunknown, you asked how Leebo was granted adminship since he had only been here since December 2006. A good rule of thumb is that very few people are granted adminship with less than three months and 1500 edits. Even with that minimal level of experience, most people will be rejected unless the candidate is well known and highly qualified. Some people have higher standards (e.g. 6 months and 2000-3000 edits).

Leebo had 6 months of experience and 5000 edits, thus surpassing most people's thresholds for supporting an RFA. For more information, read Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Leebo. In fact, if you want to be an admin, it is a good idea for you to read several RFA requests at WP:RFA. If you evaluate and vote on a number of RFA candidates, people will get to know you and understand how you think. That will give them some basis to judge whether or not you can be trusted with adminship.

Good luck and happy editing.

Suikoden Task Force and my headers edit

Hey Physik! I'm glad to see that you discovered the Suikoden Task Force page, and subsequently joined our list of contributors. We're glad to have you aboard. Feel free to check out the "To do" list and start improving Suikoden-related articles! In addition, I saw that you have also started using my personal Toolbox (which is based on that of User:Fuhghettaboutit) and my personal header (which is based on my friend Leebo's). Great! Feel free to change them as much as you like to personalize them and give them your own personal "Physik" flair! Happy editing! bwowen talkcontribs 23:19, 17 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Non-free use disputed for Image:Fox1.gif edit

  This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Fox1.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 14:47, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Ah, the inevitable bot warning. ;) Why did you upload Image:Fox1.gif and Image:Title2.gif from http://www.google.com/firefox?client=firefox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official]? --Iamunknown 18:12, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Title2.gif) edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Title2.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:46, 20 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Wikipedia:Aqua Teen Hunger Force Team edit

Fair use images absolutely positively must not be used on user pages or wikiproject pages, as you have at Wikipedia:Aqua Teen Hunger Force Team. I have removed the fair use image from that page (twice). Do not add this image back. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 00:05, 24 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Like our copyright policies, Wikipedia:Civility is also not an option. You have a very poor record here at Wikipedia, with extensive and repeated additions of copyright policies, personal attacks, disruption, and vandalism. Call of Duty 5 edit

A {{prod}} template has been added to the article Call of Duty 5, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you endorse deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please tag it with {{db-author}}. Ricky81682 (talk) 15:28, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Call of Duty 5 edit

Call of Duty 5, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Call of Duty 5 satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Call of Duty 5 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Call of Duty 5 during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. My suggestion from me to you edit

In my honest opinion, which is after all just an opinion, I’d suggest that you vanish (read more). After vanishing, and before creating a brand new account, I would suggest that you read many of the fine policies and guidelines (read more) we have here at Wikipedia. In particular, you should read WP:NOR, WP:NPA, WP:VAND, WP:SOCK, and WP:NFC, if not more.

Again this is just a suggestion, that you do not have to take, but I’m just going to be honest. If you ever want to be an admin or a crat, you’re going to have to make up a lot to counter your disruptive behavior. You’d have to be a saint. But, again this is just a suggestion, that you do not have to take. It’s just my two cents worth. — Ian Lee (Talk) 22:31, 29 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

lonelygirl15 edit

Hi Physik, I noticed you tried to nominate the article lonelygirl15 for deletion. Your nomination was not properly filed, and I'm not sure if you actually intended to delete the article. You may want to review Wikipedia:Deletion policy. Lonelygirl15 has been an incredibly popular internet serial, and it's been written about in most newspapers in the country. Even if you don't like lonelygirl15, because of how well known it is there's a long-standing precedence at wikipedia to keep articles about subjects that have been covered this much. --JayHenry 20:00, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

the reason is that this should be deleted is because its not even a tv show--Physik 20:03, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
In order to delete an article in Wikipedia, however, you usually have to use reasons that are included at Deletion_policy#Reasons_for_deletion. So the fact that this is on the internet instead of television is not one of those reasons. We have lots of articles on Wikipedia that are about shows and sites on the internet. --JayHenry 20:09, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

AfD nomination of Halo: Battle on Venus edit

An editor has nominated Halo: Battle on Venus, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Fair use rationale for Image:Tom and Jerry Movie.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Tom and Jerry Movie.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Normally, when removing a {prod} tag, as you did at Mr. Bean 3, we include an explanation of why the concern raised is invalid, or improve the article to eliminate that concern.
