Your input is needed on the SOPA initiative edit

Hi Phoebe,

You are receiving this message either because you expressed an opinion about the proposed SOPA blackout before full blackout and soft blackout were adequately differentiated, or because you expressed general support without specifying a preference. Please ensure that your voice is heard by clarifying your position accordingly.

Thank you.

Thanks for greeting the new Biophysics people edit

Thanks enormously!! I realized yesterday that we needed to do this, but really appreciate your stepping in -- you already know how to do this well, and I'd have needed more time than I have in order to flail around and find a good mode.

I've talked to several other interested people since Sunday, including someone who wants to pull in the rest of his lab, and especially the Education Committee members. One of them wants to make a page with links to on-line educational resources (things like detailed layouts of an experiment that's good for introducing undergrads to biophysics), and perhaps get our WikiProject folks to evaluate them. Some of that is non-Wikipedia-ish, but I presume the basic list of links would be OK. Or is there some better way to accomplish this? Jane Dcrjsr (talk) 16:25, 29 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Rees's Cyclopaedia edit

Hullo Phoebe,

After a gap of some years I've now begun to do some work on WP. I don't expect you will remember, but we corresponded about Chambers's Encyclopaedia in about 2004.

I begun updating the Rees's Cyclopaedia article, with a list of contributors. These will need more editing to get them right. I also have a list of publication dates of the parts to add later on. Any comments and suggestions will be gratefully received.

A copy of your book on WP arrived this morning. I am much impressed. I only wish it had been around when I began!

Kind regards

Apwoolrich (talk) 16:51, 20 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi Phoebe,

Thanks for your message. I was minded to do this by the recent digitising and placing on the web of both editions of the work, and the discovery that the majority of contributors now have WP pages. I am writing lives for those who don't. I did the research for this in the 1980s, but never formally published it then. I was drawn to Rees by my work on the Manufacturing Technology of the Regency, in particular the Portsmouth Block Mills and John Farey, jr. Putting the information in the public domain will, I hope get a far wider audience than a journal article would. I also have a list of the monograph length articles to add.

Kind regards Apwoolrich (talk) 09:02, 7 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

WikiSym 2012 edit

moin Phoebe, embodies your note linked above a stand alone format or something for news and notes? if the later, it might be best to move the WikiSym piece to next week, because Wiki Loves Monuments, which starts this week, will need a lot of space (for pretty pictures, among other aspects :), all best --Jan eissfeldt (talk) 21:16, 2 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

OK! that works for me since I don't have it finished, anyway :) I was thinking a short stand-alone story. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 14:57, 3 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
i'm very happy with this solution :o), thanks & all best --Jan eissfeldt (talk) 17:38, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Adopt-a-user edit

Hi Phoebe. I'm leaving you this message because you have previously been involved as an adopter with Wikipedia's Adopt-a-user program. A clean-up of this program is currently underway, and as part of the process I am trying to find out who is and isn't still interested in remaining an adopter.

If you would prefer not to be part of the adoption program anymore, you need do nothing; when the overhaul of the project is completed your name will be removed from the list of active adopters. However, if you have current adoptees, an active adoption school or an interest in adopting in the near future, then please let us know by signing here.

If you want to remain in the project and can currently take on more adoptees, there is a serious backlog at Category:Wikipedians seeking to be adopted in Adopt-a-user; it would be enormously helpful if you could take on one or two of the users there. Please do keep an eye on the project for upcoming changes, we could use your opinions and your help! Yunshui  09:15, 19 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello Phoebe,

Thank you very much for the message. I've been struggling about Kitaro's album pages. I'm not sure what else I could do, so it'll be really nice if you could help or teach me how to improve pages and avoid deletions.

Thank you very much,

Edit-a-thon tomorrow (Saturday) in Oakland edit

Hi, I hope you will be joining us tomorrow afternoon at the Edit-a-thon at Tech Liminal, in Oakland. We'll be working on articles relating to women and democracy (and anything else that interests you). It's sponsored by the California League of Women Voters, Tech Liminal, and me.

If this is the first you are hearing of this event, my apologies for the last-minute notice! I announced it on the San Francisco email list and by a banner on your watchlist, but I neglected to look at the San Francisco invitation list until this evening. If you can't make it this time, I hope to see you at a similar event soon! -Pete (talk) 04:51, 15 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Help with Accessing Article edit

Hi Phoebe, I saw your name on the Wikiproject Resource Exchange page and wanted to see if you could help me out. I am trying to access a paper that I do not have the privileges to as I believe it may hold information that would better the interstitial cystitis article that I have been working on. The name of the article is Urogynecological causes of pain and the effect of pain on sexual function in women and its abstract is here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22983268 I know the doi would be helpful but unfortunately I have not been able to find it. If you have any insights on how I can get a hold of it or if you can get a hold of it and send a copy please let me know (my talk page or here is fine, either way). Thank you! TylerDurden8823 (talk) 05:53, 16 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I don't have access to this article unfortunately. Replied on your talk as well. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 22:25, 30 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Hi Phoebe, that's okay, I appreciate you trying. Do you possibly have access to this article? This paper would help me out greatly since I'm working on the bronchitis article and the history section is currently empty: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19343614 [200 years of bronchitis--from 1808 to 2008]. Klippe,HJ Kirsten D Pneumologie 63(4) 228-230 Apr 2009 Thanks! TylerDurden8823 (talk) 00:41, 7 January 2013 (UTC)
Unfortunately I don't have access to that one either, sorry about that (also, it's in German - english abstract only - so I'm not sure how helpful it would be). I did find this similar citation [1] - if that looks useful I can get it to you. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 21:32, 7 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi Phoebe, yes please, I would like access to the similar article you found (the PMID 1925077). I think it would be quite useful for the article. Thank you very much! TylerDurden8823 (talk) 05:53, 8 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Phoebe, did you get my message? Just want to make sure. TylerDurden8823 (talk) 20:35, 11 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Hi! I did get it, sorry for the delay. The article is in storage so it will take a couple more days. Send me your email address, and I'll fwd it along to you when it comes. -- phoebe / (talk to me) 21:12, 14 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
Wonderful. Thank you. Is there a way for me to privately message you my email address? TylerDurden8823 (talk) 06:24, 15 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
yep, if you click the link on the left-hand side that says 'email this user' you can send me a note. Also, I got the paper today :) -- phoebe / (talk to me) 18:16, 16 January 2013 (UTC)Reply
