Triumphlied edit

Thanks for Triumphlied, an interesting addition. Interesting, that the English translation has "omnipotent reigneth", while "Reich eingenommen" literally means "empire taken/occupied", which makes much more sense in the political context. With a few more inline citatios, that would be good for the "Did you know" section of the Main page, did you know? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:45, 10 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

At least the King James Bible says "omnipotent reigneth". And I've used this version of the Bible as I really appreciate the English used in it. ;-) -- Orthographicus (talk) 09:32, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
I am not questioning that, provided the Bible source myself, - but I think it might be worth mentioning that a literal translation of "eingenommen" would be "taken/occupied", and I don't have to explain "Reich", I guess. How about more citations and DYK? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:30, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply
As this is Wikipedia, please feel free to change whatever you want. :-) For my English is not very good, I always only tend to "start" a page whilst hoping that native speakers or those who attain a native-like level elaborate the article. -- Orthographicus (talk) 12:41, 12 February 2014 (UTC)Reply

"Minor" edits edit

Thank you for your contributions. Please mark your edits as "minor" only if they are minor edits. In accordance with Help:Minor edit, a minor edit is one that the editor believes requires no review and could never be the subject of a dispute. Minor edits consist of things such as typographical corrections, formatting changes or rearrangement of text without modification of content. Additionally, the reversion of clear-cut vandalism and test edits may be labeled "minor". Thank you. Toccata quarta (talk) 08:07, 7 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

April 2014 edit

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to Vaterlandslied may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • was a devout patriot as a youth, as is shown by a ''War Song'' written in 1749 honouring the [[Prussia]n king [[Frederick the Great]]. When the king, however, did not patronize [[German]]

Lyrics of Germanenzug edit

Dear Orthographicus,

Thank you for your translation of the lyrics of Germanenzug.

I have added a note below the lyrics, which reports the names of the Germanic mythology, as Bruckner-self reported on the manuscript of his work. Hopefully you are agreeing with the translation, which I added in brackets.

Are you OK with the change I made in your translation ("with the strike of Balmung" → "with sword strokes")?

Best regards from Belgium, --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 12:23, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

NB:

  • Thank you too for your translation of the lyrics of Helgoland.
  • If you are interested in another translation, please have a look on the lyrics of Bruckner's Festive Cantata Preiset den Herrn.
I understand German and I read it fluently, but I am not able to translate it into literary English ...
You don't have to ask me for permission. ;-) We are on Wikipedia. Everyone is entitled to change wherever need be. And my translations are horrible, too, but hitherto, hardly any native-speaker seems to be interested in rectifying the articles. -- Orthographicus (talk) 14:49, 17 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Lyrics of Festive Cantata (Bruckner) edit

Dear Orthographicus,

I have followed your example. I just have done for Bruckner's festive cantata "¨Preiset den Herrn" the same as you did previously for his cantatas Germanenzug and Helgoland. Hopefully I did it in a not to bad English...

Best regards, --Réginald alias Meneerke bloem (To reply) 11:18, 20 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
