Olumide Adeleye

Olumide Adeleye (born October 16, 1987) is a Nigerian entrepreneur and documentary filmmaker. He is the Founder and CEO of Twim Academy, as well as Awarewa.tv.

Education

Olumide was born in Odeda, Nigeria, to Akinwumi and Olufolake Adeleye. He studied at Oritamefa Baptist Model School, Ibadan, and later proceeded to the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta to study Agricultural Economics and Farm Management in 2004. He also took short courses at Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics, and Zoom Technologies (both in Hyderabad, India).

Career

During his first year at the University of Agriculture, Olumide founded his first business venture- a computer training school- with a capital of about $10. The success of this venture was the beginning of the journey to Twim Academy. After completing his Bachelor's Degree, he served as a freelance writer for Ventures Africa and a number of other reputable media.

Twim Academy

After returning from India in 2013, Olumide founded a photography outfit known as Twim Studios. However, after a burglary experience, he decided to focus on building a school that could teach media and creative arts to young people and tackle unemployment. He founded Twim Academy in December 2013. Twim Academy (legally registered as Twim Infomedia Solutions Ltd) was named one of the “Top 50 of the Most Innovative African Startups” by New York Forum Africa in 2015.

Awards and recognition

In 2015, Olumide won the MasterCard Foundation and Ashoka’s “Innovations for Youth Employment in Africa” contest. In December 2015, he was also a finalist for the Future Awards Ford Foundation Prize for Youth Employment. That same year, he was an "Education Challenge Africa" Fellow at The DO School in Berlin, Germany. In 2016, he was selected as an aKoma Amplify Storytelling Fellow, and a Leap Africa Social Innovation Fellow.

AfroCine: Join us for the Months of African Cinema in October!

AfroCine: Join the Months of African Cinema this October!

After a successful first iteration of the “Months of African Cinema” last year, we are happy to announce that it will be happening again this year, starting from October 1! In the 2018 edition of the contest, about 600 Wikipedia articles were created in at least 8 languages. There were also contributions to Wikidata and Wikimedia commons, which brought the total number of wikimedia pages created during the contest to over 1,000.

I believe it would be great if the (Requests for uncreated articles) section in our wiki project can be attended to & at least one article be created this weekend as some requests have been pending since 2016.
