Thank you

edit

Opening the page back up and blocking me was more appropriate. It teaches me to be more prepared for aggresive editing within the wikipeida standards. I have no objection to following the rules. I believe we all need to pay for our mistakes if the price is reasonable.

I am not above the rules, but I can certainly appreciate your attempt to give me choices. I had requested the page be locked, but for different reasons. If I was at fault for any reason it seems only fair that I take the punishment and not the page itself.--Amadscientist (talk) 05:22, 14 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

How do you get a vandal blocked.

edit

Hi, how do you get a persistent vandal blocked? The article Adelaide University Union was vandalised 6 or so times from the same IP address. Ozdaren (talk) 14:28, 10 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. Well, the blocking procedure is a little bit different with IP addresses from universities, especially with this one, because there have been some recent non-vandalism edits—but that's for administrators to think about. If you see this IP vandalize again, go ahead and give it a final warning and then report it to WP:AIV if vandalism still continues. To answer your question in a general sense, dealing with persistent vandals is pretty much the same. Warn them, then report them. Okiefromokla questions? 02:22, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
That's great. Thanks. No worries about taking a while. You weren't long at all. Ozdaren (talk) 03:04, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

This user has stolen my intellectual property

edit

While browsing the Wikipedia page for the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, I discovered that Okiefromokla, who takes great pride in being a Wikipedia administrator, stole a photograph taken by me and claimed to have been the original creator. The file in question is [1] and may be found on the Tulsa, Oklahoma page and the Greenwood neighborhood page. It is apparent that Okiefromokla downloaded the photo from my flickr page at [2] and then cropped it. According to the photo credits, Okiefromokla claims, "I created this work entirely by myself" and continues to say, "I, the copyright holder of this work, hereby release it into the public domain. This applies worldwide. In case this is not legally possible, I grant any entity the right to use this work for any purpose, without any conditions, unless such conditions are required by law."

Okiefromokla, you should absolutely be ashamed of yourself for first stealing MY work, claiming it as your own and then releasing it to public domain ILLEGALLY.

I have never granted ANY kind of use of this photograph, and demand that it be removed immediately. I have notified Wikipedia of this situation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dsjeffries (talkcontribs) 06:20, 20 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Patrick Pogan

edit

Hi, it looks like Patrick Pogan got speedy deleted for non-notability. I think this was a mistake, but I obviously don't know what kind of condition the article was in when you got a hold of it.

Would it be possible for you to restore the article, and maybe even move it to User:Bdb484/Patrick Pogan so I can get it in shape before putting it back into the field?

Thanks. —Bdb484 (talk) 15:41, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Absolutely. I copied it to the userspace page you provided. Right now, it would still meet deletion standards as nothing has changed since it was deleted, so I can't restore it to the mainspace. However, if you feel you can get it up to standard, feel free to give it a shot. It was deleted for Wikipedia:CSD#A7—that is, not establishing sufficient notability. One particular problem it has is that it seems the subject is known for only one event, and that event is fairly insignificant. But if you can establish notability per Wikipedia:Notability (people), you can recreate the article in the mainspace. Generally, this means that if you can find at least several reliable sources about this person other than news articles detailing this one event, he could very well meet notability standards. If you need anything else, let me know :) Okiefromokla questions? 22:15, 6 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

USAO

edit

Hello Okiefromokla. I notice you've done some editing on our Wikipedia description and that you're listed as an administrator. I'd like to change the primary description, but i thought it would discuss it with you first so that you understand where it came from. I am the media relations director at USAO.

I notice you changed our previous description as "Oklahoma's only public liberal arts college" to "...is the only public college with a strictly liberal arts-based curriculum in Oklahoma."

Here's what I plan to change the description to:

“USAO is Oklahoma’s only public liberal arts college, officially designated as such by the State Legislature in 1965. USAO has served the same original liberal-arts-focused mission since its founding in 1908 and is recognized as one of the oldest public liberal arts colleges in America.”

I'll be happy to verify our claim to this distinction if needed. Would you like to discuss this?

An article you created maybe deleted soon: Tools which can help you

edit

As a veteran editor, you are probably familar with many of these tools, but maybe some of these tools will be helpful to you. Good luck in the Afd.

The article you created: Patrick Pogan may be deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here:

The faster you respond on this page, the better chance the article you created can be saved.

Finding sources which mention the topic of your article is the very best way to avoid an article being deleted {{Findsources3}}:

Find sources for Patrick Pogan: google news recent, google news old, google books, google scholar, NYT recent, NYT old, a9, msbooks, msacademic ...You can then cite these results in the Article for deletion discussion.

Also, there are several tools and helpful editors on Wikipedia who can help you:

1. List the page on Article Rescue Squadron. You can get help listing your page on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.
2. At any time, you can ask any administrator to move your article to a special page. (Called userfication)

3. You can request a mentor to help you: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond to you before responding on the article for deletion page.
4. When trying to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. These acronyms don't need to intimidate you. Here is a list of acronyms you can use yourself: Deletion debate acronyms, which will help you argue that the article should be kept.

If your page is deleted, you also have many options available. Good luck! Ikip (talk) 16:35, 24 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello, as you probably know, Oklahoma is arguably the most conservative state in the united states. But take a look at this. According to this study, Oklahoma City is the 22nd most conservative city in the country and Tulsa is 27.[3] Rarely do you see large cities like this prefer the republican party. Suspension of admin privileges due to inactivity

edit

Following a community discussion in June 2011, consensus was reached to provisionally suspend the administrative privileges of users who have been inactive for one year, meaning administrators who have made neither any edits nor any logged actions in over one year. As a result of this discussion, your administrative privileges have been removed pending your return. If you wish to have these privileges reinstated, please post to the Wikipedia:Bureaucrats' noticeboard and the userright will be restored per the re-sysopping process (i.e., as long as the attending bureaucrats are reasonably satisfied that your account has not been compromised and that your inactivity did not have the effect of evading scrutiny of any actions which might have led to sanctions). This removal of access is procedural only, and not intended to reflect negatively upon you in any way. We wish you the best in future endeavors, and thank you for your past administrative efforts. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Notice of change

edit

Hello. You are receiving this message because of a recent change to the administrator policy that alters what you were told at the time of your desysopping. The effect of the change is that you will not longer be able to request restoration of the tools because of your prior inactivity. You have until December 30, 2012 to request restoration or else the policy will prevent you from doing so in the future; you would need to seek a new WP:RFA. Until December 30, you can file a request at WP:BN for review by the crats. Thank you. MBisanz talk 04:22, 3 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Proposed deletion of File:Littledixiemapoklahoma.PNG

edit

The file File:Littledixiemapoklahoma.PNG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Orphaned map.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ~ Rob13Talk 21:30, 7 March 2018 (UTC)Reply
