Classical language

Hi. The discussion on Talk:India resulted in concensus that a brief sentence would be added to the culture section to mention India's classical languages. I have provided a citation in article Languages of India, section on classical languages (within quotes), what the official requirements were from the Ministry of Culture, GOI. Re: Lakes in Bangalore

Actually i merged Ulsoor lake "article", but an image of ulsoor lake from you would be greatly appreciated. Since LDA leased out to private parties, and lack of first hand engineers so they have to rely on third party, maybe its taken back from lda back to bbmp - I donno complete issue with it all. I copied many content from Hebbal lake. Also in wikipedia, only proper nouns are capitalised, so i kept tank and lake in lower case itself. Sorry for not signing. It comes of trying to edit when tired. It's usual not to link to DAB pages but rather to pipe the links to the page you want the article reader to end up at. In your case instead of writing [[Punjab]] you'd write [[Punjab (India)|Punjab]] . The text will appear as a blue Punjab as before but will send the reader directly to the Punjab (India) article when clicked. Your other article looks really nice, by the way. Lake merge

Done, I've merged the two lakes. While merging, I have one problem: do not know which reversion of either page is correct. Both had some useful information which was not present on the other page. So, if you have the time, could you merge the contents of the page from the source to target (copy-paste-edit)?

Sure I can help you with suggestions anytime. I reviewed the articles for style and grammar: Here are some recommendations:

1. Common nouns are not wikified. We do not link low-value items such as rice, copper, flora, fauna etc. An August 2008 update of the Manual of Style has also done away with linking common places such as India, United States, Delhi and demonyms such as Indian.
2. Use {{convert}} so that metric units are converted to imperial units. I've seen it in some places, but in many it places it is lacking. eg {{convert|24.6|C|F|abbr=on|1}}
3. Use an N dash so separate date ranges, or other ranges eg. type 8.4–9.3 to get 8.4–9.3
4. Use CE instead of AD, BCE instead of BC. (CE stands for Christian Era, and is used for non-religious topics). If you're using it post 1300, its not really necessary to add the CE extension.
5. Avoid abbreviations such as etc. viz. It's advisable to spell it out.
6. Topography and Hydrology -> Unless a proper noun, usually only the first letter is capitalised in a section title, so the "H" is unnecessary
7. Also see --> it's =See also=
8. 700 Million Liters --> Indian articles use the "litre" spelling
9. Avoid adding top level categories such as Punjab to Ropar Wetland. "Geography of Punjab (India)" is preferred. [I've fixed this instance.]

Till such time we find a suitable reference, please do not remove the present reference as it disturbs the whole setting of the article.Since in the absence of photos of the Harike, Ropar, Kanjli and Pong Dam Lake wetlands, I had inserted typical photos to represent the wetlands but now the same have been removed by another editor. Can you help in finding suitable photos of these wetlands and upload them to give a good illustration of the rich wetlands of Punjab? Hi! Those DYKs look much better now. Great work. So here's how to format the references correctly.

Enabling refToolbar

1. In my preferences, click the Editing tab
2. Click to select the Show edit toolbar (JavaScript) check box
3. Click Save
4. In the Gadgets tab, click to select the refTools check box.
5. Click Save

This brings up the editing toolbar below:

There you will see this button: (Insert citation)

Adding citations

1. Click the location in your text where you want the citation to appear.
2. Click the Insert citation button, and then select the button that best describes the reference type: Web, News etc. Add the details in the relevant fields, and then click Add citation.

   Note: Ensure you add a Reference name:, so that you can reuse the reference later.

3. If you want to reuse a previously added reference, click the Named references button. For best use of named references, make sure you edit the entire page instead of a section.

   Tip: You can add the date in the ISO 8601 format YYYY-MM-DD eg [[2008-11-16]]

Note that the title, publisher, named reference, URL, and author (if available) are important.

Ratings

Hi! This topic has to do with ratings and assessment on the talk page of a newly created article or expanded article. After you create an article, the article should be identified and tagged with WikiProject banners. Since your work has mainly to do with lakes, the classifications should be under "India and Lakes". PS you can take your time reading and understanding it.

To tag an article, this is what you need to do on the talk page:

1. The class parameter determines the maturity of the article. Rate it as "start". It needs a copyedit to progress beyond start.
2. The importance is how important the article is to India. In the overall context, lakes are not very important. So depending on the significance, rate it as "mid" (Dal Lake, Chilika Lake), and rest "low".
3. The geography=yes determines that this article is a part of the WP India geography task force. All Indian lakes come under this workforce.
4. Depending on the importance to India's geography, you can rate the geography-importance= with the following: >> low || mid || high || top << (Be conservative with the "top" ratings for articles)
5. protected-areas=yes add this field only if the lake comes under a designated national park, wildlife sanctuary, or any other such government-notified protected area. You can omit this tag if not used.
6. himachal=yes This tag add the article to the WP Himachal task force. (This is in context for Maharana Pratap Sagar). All states and union territories have a tag, and you can add more than one state. eg maharashtra=yes (Note that mumbai=yes and chennai=yes can also be added)
7. himachal-importance= (Again, rate it how important it is to HP) (Similarly with protected-areas-importance)
8. needs-infobox=yes -- Only add this if there is no infobox available
9. image-needed=yes -- Only add this if there is no free image available
10. assess-date=November 2008 -- Add the current month and year to this parameter

For WikiProject lakes

Rate the importance. If the lake is internationally notable (maybe the world's largest freshwater etc, you can rate it as high or even top)

If no photos are available

In addition to the image-needed=yes field in the WP India banner, below the project banners, you can also add:

(so that people in Mumbai can add photos.)

For more than one location try this:

I notice you had some issues in the convert template: Some solutions:

1. 12561 km2 (4906.64 sqmi) --> {{convert|12561|km2|mi2|0|abbr=on}}
2. 1.5 to 1.7 kg --> {{convert|1.5|-|1.7|kg|lb|1|abbr=on}}
3. 21st May --> don't use "st" (nd, rd, th suffixes etc) --> 21 May
4. 0.12&ndash 4.8 --> the semicolon was left out after the h in &ndash;
