I got the logo off of the Sega of Japan website, the other logos are in the Mega Drive article, but not this one.

Hi Nick. Thank you for your reply. I'm still getting the hang of making articles so I'm making a few mistakes. I'm sure I'll figure it all out soon.

I am working on making some improvements on this artist's article. I wanted to add images to the page of her artwork. The images are in my textbooks but they have copyrights. How do I show examples of this artists artwork since it is under copyright? Can you walk me through the best way to post images of artwork? I find it very complicated... maybe just due to lack of experience with this.

I feel that it is important for learning purposes, to improve information on well known artists. I will also try to find a fair-use image of the actual artist per your recommendation.

Not sure exactly what I'm doing here. I removed all mention of music because it wasn't notable enough I realized after reading through the details of music notablity. I do believe however that the other work is notable. Set design for major network television, album artwork for Universal Records artists, film projects with NFL stars etc. Please let me know if you disagree with this. I did remove the deletion warning but you can add it again if you still believe it isn't okay. I appreciate your help.

I don't know how to tag the image properly. How do I know if something falls under fair-use? The photo was on the government web page so I thought it would be alright. Anyways, this site is really intimidating! Also I was not able to find which 'style' I should use for my references. Is APA okay? Regarding the image, could you please link me to the page you copied it from? I'll do some research regarding the copyright status of the image. It would probably not qualify under fair use, since the fair use guidelines generally prohibit using a photo of someone that only serves to show the person under fair-use, since such an image could be replaced by a freely licensed image. It looks like the image actually originated from this page on the South Carolina House of Representatives website. I did a little research into Wikipedia copyright tags and it looks like, while works of the US Federal Government are not subject to copyright, only three states have followed suit and South Carolina is not one of them. Therefore, images copied from their website are considered copyrighted. Additionally, the image probably wouldn't qualify for free use per the reason I've explained before (that it would be considered replaceable since the only reason the image is being used is to show what Mr. Pitts looks like and there is nothing else special about the image). Unfortunately, it looks like that image is going to end up being deleted because it's copyright status makes it unsuitable for Wikipedia. Sorry, Nick—Contact/Contribs 03:52, 28 February 2010 (UTC)

I'm a little new to this and I'm not exactly sure how to add my "copyright" to a picture I already own. This is a picture of me. I got it from my own files and in my opinion I think we're being a tad anal.

Thanks for your message. I realize that you created the image yourself, it simply needs a copyright tag added to it. Since YOU created the image, this copyright tag is going to be the license under which YOU want to release the image to others. I'm not being "anal". The bottom line is all of the images on Wikipedia, including ones you create yourself, have to compatible with Wikipedia's content licenses. If you don't mind allowing others to reuse your picture under the terms of a free license (or releasing it into the public domain entirely), simply take your pick of any of the licensing options listed at Wikipedia:TAGS#For image creators and add the tag of your choice to the image description page. For example {{GFDL-self}} will release your image under the GFDL license, whereas {{PD-self}} will release your image into the public domain. Cheers, Nick—Contact/Contribs 01:37, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

The sentence that I quoted in my deletion nomination was simply an example of why I felt the article did not meet policy, and was not meant to be construed as the only thing wrong with the page. Pursuant to Wikipedia's notability guidelines for bands and the general notability guideline, the subject of an article must be "notable" in order to have an article in Wikipedia. Notability is usually established by showing that the subject has been talked about in various independent sources (that is, sources other than websites and other publications connected with the subject itself). Since that doesn't seem to be the case for the Erevanski article, I still think it should be deleted. If you disagree, I encourage you to go directly to the deletion discussion page at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Erevanski and make your case for the band's notability. Hi there. In short, no. User pages may be tagged for speedy deletion under the "general" criteria at WP:CSD if they are blatant spam, attacks, copyright infringement, etc., but not under any of the "article" criteria. Also, AFD is only for articles. The equivalent of AFD for user pages would be Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion, and user pages that violate the user page guidelines can be nominated for deletion there just like you would nominate an article for AFD, however its important to keep in mind that user pages are usually held to a much lower standard than articles. Unless a clear-cut violation of policy exists, users are usually given the benefit of the doubt when it comes to their user page. Also, while it may seem obvious, its important to point out that notability guidelines don't apply to user pages, since a user is welcome to write about themselves (notable or not) on their user page. Not a problem. For your new image (the one of what looks like a graduation ceremony), the first problem that we're going to have to figure out is what the copyright status and source of the image is. It's currently tagged as lacking that information and will be deleted 7 days after it was uploaded if you don't provide that info. Where did you find the image? Hello there. I apologize if the notice was a bit difficult to understand. Basically, by uploading an image that you created on Wikipedia, you're required to state which free license you are releasing your image under. You cannot upload an image to Wikipedia if you still want to reserve all rights to the image. You may pick one of the tags listed here to place on the image description page. For example, if you want to release your image under the terms of the GFDL, then you would put {{GFDL-self}} on the image page. If you wanted to fully release your image into the public domain (and lose all rights to it), you could use {{PD-self}}. I hope this has helped. Feel free to ask clarifying questions if you have any.
