IBS Group Holding Ltd. edit

Dear moderator, you have deleted IBS Group holding page from Wikipedia. By stating that it’s an advertisement, unfortunately I have to disagree with you, Mostly information posted on the Wikipedia page is neutral and talks about the company, IBS Group is big holding which includes more than 7ooo people worldwide. Please take a look at our peers pages: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wipro ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infosys . I used their pages as a pattern for writing IBS Group Holding Ltd. Page. Please explain me how do our pages differ, and how is that possible that pages which are mentioned above are allowed on Wikipedia.org, and our page is considered Advertisement. I call for your moderate sense and all the professionalism that you have to solve this problem otherwise I’ll ask you to take same actions against our peer companies. Thank you. Dmitry

My article "makigami" was deleted. edit

My article "makigami" was deleted. I've written three books on the subject. I don't understand why you consider it advertising. I believe the public would want factual information on the new technique. What are your thoughts?

Thank you very much.

  • You would need to find reliable independent sources (see WP:V) to show that you or your technique meet our standards of notability (see WP:N and WP:BIO). "People would want to know about it" is just too subjective a standard for us to use here - everyone has a different idea of what people would want to know about. I'm not quite sure how these things work, but why would adding an entry Banff Springs Hotel to List of castles in Canada trigger it? The user has made no other edits, current or deleted. Log at http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:AbuseLog&wpSearchUser=68427capriceatyahoo Thanks. Hello, there has been recent chaos in the Armenia page, as one user dbachmann, has been constantly changing the map that had been agreed upon for months after some debate. I have the support of the main mod in charge of the page. I noticed you had changed the protection level of the Armenia page, is there any way to up the protection so he is not able to make such changes or so this edit war stops, and we can continue with what we had before?MosMusy (talk) 20:51, 3 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi NW. On behalf of the article creator, can I request that this article be undeleted and moved to User BillyMoses\Robert Tickell so that the editor has a chance to insert references to help establish notability? Filter 58 edit

That filter seems to be producing a lot of false positives. Granted, a decent proportion of the FPs are vandals anyway, just not the type it's targeting. Considering it disallows the edit and the bot reports anybody who triggers it to AIV, a high rate of false positives is not great. I see you're about the only person who ever modifies it, so perhaps you could do some deadheading and leave only the most harmful stuff that really needs to be disallowed on there, perhaps exporting some of the rest to another filter? Dear NawlinWiki,

I understand there has been a massive amount of deletion with articles based upon one singer that has been created possibly 20 times? If anything though, i am a new user who plans on creating an account on Wikipedia but, recently saw that this article was deleted. The article was notable and i was wondering just in case Wikipedians thought i was a banned user, if you could start the article yourself and then everyone else would build upon it. I saw some hits on Google including radio airplay.

Sincerely,

Im Soben

P.S. We can exchange emails also but, i'm afraid of privacy issues —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.175.222.156 (talk) 18:40, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

NawlinWiki, thank you for deleting that page and seeing through his disguise. Do you know how to find out if 213.175.222.156 is a proxy? I doubt he's actually in the UK. I did a scan, but don't know how to interpret the results. Soap 19:04, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
It's a proxy, see here for example. I've blocked it for one year. And with respect to Mr. Savy, because there was a previous AFD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sarey Savy, and because of the repeated sockpuppetry and attempts to evade filters, the only legitimate way to start this article would be to go to Wikipedia:Deletion review and state a case there as to how this person might now meet WP:MUSIC and WP:V. Speedy deletion nomination of David lee smith edit

A tag has been placed on David lee smith, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

redirect due grammar

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Whiteguru (talk) 11:23, 7 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Just curious why our page for the Croydon Rangers Gridiron Club was deemed to to have given "No explanation of the subject's significance", or why we wouldn't be asked to provide one before deleting it? Yobi.tv edit

The page for Yobi.tv was deleted. I believe that this may be due to an interpretation that it was being used for commercial promotion. As you can see, I am a regular contributor to Wikipedia, and (I believe) have a clean record regarding usage and non-promtional content. I have at times added content to the Yobi.tv page as well. That said, I am a regular follower of Yobi.tv and believe it merits a Wikipedia page. Would it be possible to allow me to repost the page were I to remove whatever you believe to be the segments that you believe crossed the line. If so, could you please share with me that material so that I can monitor the page in the future? Sincerely, David A. Victor

Hi NawlinWiki,

I have made a first edit of the YOBI.tv page to try to address some of the issues you flagged. Could you please take a moment to look over the revision on my userspace at User:David A. Victor/YOBI.tv? I want to make sure that this is more acceptable.

I appreciate the opportunity to revise this.

You had asked me to include rationale for why the site is notable. My argument is that YOBI.tv is built on the premise of James Surowiecki's Wisdom of Crowds. It is, to my knowledge, the first contest (web-based or otherwise) to do so. As I teach Surowiecki's premise in some of my university classes, this is of particular interest to me. That said, I have no way of knowing if this truly is the ONLY contest to do so. Consequently, I have only put in a paragraph regarding THAT the site does so.

It is my hope that this revision passes muster. I can refine it further at a later date, but this is currently the exam period at the university where I teach and my time is as a result somewhat limited for the next week or so. That said, I wanted to post something up sooner rather than later.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts. David A. Victor (talk) 02:26, 15 April 2011 (UTC) DVReply

Page Deleted edit

I would like to know why my page "Troopathon" was deleted. It is a new event and was in no way meant as an advertisement. After I saw Mark Levin's wiki page reference the event, I found it necessary to give a brief description of it... Can you please advise me on how I can create a page that is informative for this term and not advertising it. --Tbudowich (talk) 00:19, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • First, the article needs to be written in a neutral fashion (see WP:NPOV) and not as advertising or publicity for the event. Second, the event's notability must be shown by citation to reliable independent sources (ie, not the event's own webpage). See WP:V). NawlinWiki (talk) 00:20, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

List of convicted Jewish criminals edit

Hi. I went to Deletion review and it said to discuss with the deleting admin. Your reason was "Recently created article that duplicates an existing topic: Bernard Madoff". I think you should agree that this is false as I had only started assembling the list for a minute when you deleted. I think you should undelete, and then delete for an appropriate reason if there is one. Regards. Bob19842 (talk) 10:52, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Undelete and then delete again? That's just silly. Besides the A10 duplication, I agree with the commenters at ANI who think the article was a veiled anti-Semitic attack. NawlinWiki (talk) 12:49, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
There was no consensus at ANI and they reffered me to Deletion review, as did Requests for undeletion where I mistakenly went. Deletion review guidelines said to discuss with you. Your position is that you agree with one side at ANI, will leave the page deleted with spurious reasoning, and will do so because in your opinion it is "Anti-Semitic". Can you confirm that? Bob19842 (talk) 13:02, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
As has already been pointed out to Bob on the undelete request page, there's a fundamental distinction between "List of Jewish Nobel laureates" and "List of convicted Jewish criminals". Namely, that the first list is a verifiable and fixed number, whereas there are no verifiable standards for the second list, which could expand into the thousands upon thousands if you listed every Jew that's ever been convicted of anything, clear down to jaywalking. (I would say the same problem exists with the list of Aussie criminals.) ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 13:42, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Is having a "fixed number" a standard normally applied to lists? It seems a bit odd to delete something on a dubious prediction of its size. Jaywalking would not be notable, even for the famous. Bob19842 (talk) 13:58, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
How do you know it wouldn't? Every time Lindsay Lohan does anything her mother wouldn't approve of, it makes headlines. However, there's an even more fundamental flaw with your proposed list, and that is that there is nothing about Madoff's crimes that has anything to do with being Jewish. To do this technically correctly, you would have to not only verify what the scope should be, but also you would have to rename it Convicted criminals who happen to be Jewish. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 14:03, 12 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

This is my first article and I was still in the process of making corrections, actually even the title is not ment to be User:Manumura, but nlevel. Basically, the article talks about a solution to water crisis, as well as, who did the research. • This is the entire text of the article that I deleted in January 2010:

The Native American Journalists Association, based in Norman, Oklahoma on the campus of the University of Oklahoma, focuses on improving communications among Native people and between Native Americans and the general public.<ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.naja.com |title=Native American Journalists Association |accessdate=2008-11-19 }}</ref> The work of the association addresses Native communications and encompasses a wide range of issues affecting the survival and the development of the Native media and Native communications.

As you can see, the article does not explain how the subject asserts notability per our guidelines at WP:ORG. Also, the only source cited is the association's own website -- as a tertiary reference, we require citation to reliable independent sources, see WP:V. The later version of the article was deleted by another administrator because it was copied verbatim from the association's website, in violation of our policies against reposting copyrighted material, see WP:COPYRIGHT. hurryupharry.org edit

Hi,
I note you added the domain hurryupharry.org to the spamblacklist last November, apparently prompted by these five (suppressed) diffs.
Is this particular person known to be still active, or was he only known to you during that spree? If this is a long-term problem, would it suffice to blacklist only this particular link?
Cheers, Amalthea 13:12, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • This is User:Runtshit, who is still (unfortunately) active. I suppose you can limit the blacklist to the particular link. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 13:16, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
    • OK, thanks. I'll leave it be for now, but expand the log note for future reference (no pressing problem at the moment, just some minor hoopla at Harry's Place). Cheers, Amalthea 14:10, 20 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Shava (band) edit

I contested the speedy deletion. As per talk page of Shava (band) -

This page should not be speedy deleted because... --Probabilitydragon (talk) 21:00, 21 April 2011 (UTC)

In the criteria for notability -

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_(music)

"A musician or ensemble (note that this includes a band, singer, rapper, orchestra, DJ, musical theatre group, etc.) may be notable if it meets at least one of the following criteria: 1) Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable and are independent from the musician or ensemble itself.[note 1]"

This criteria is true for Shava. Just a couple of examples -

i) an article in City magazine, a very well-known Finnish urban free paper - http://www.city.fi/artikkeli/Shava+Shava+Shake/3640/?nosm=1

ii) an article in Helsingin sanomat, Finland's biggest newspaper - http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=499144906489&set=a.473413286489.255316.190400411489&type=1&theater

iii) TV appearances in biggest Finnish TV channels - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsKiNBUCmYQ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYQcHXjLZ0g

iv) articles on various notable websites

Society pages - http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2009/12/13/guest-post-suomibhangra-the-good-brownface/ Kansanmusiikki.fi, Finland's biggest folk music information site -

Contested deletion edit

The article Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging results for display/marching bands was flagged for speedy deletion by someone who saw the beginnings of a page minutes after its creation. I have since added the content, and yet it is still deleted. I hope you have actually read the article and checked the links before removing hours of work people have just invested?

The SYF is a major national-level competition amongst over 300 schools in Singapore, and this list is just one of the more prominent items I chose to put up. Checking the reference will have clearly shown that this is a national level event. In all my years in wikipedia this has got to be one of the most ludicrous deletions, I have to say.--Huaiwei (talk) 19:39, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well then that is a personal judgement, because a national level inter-school band competition that has been held since the 1960s and involving thousands of people is clearly far more notable than cow-breeding and pie-making competitions in a US state. Even the guideline (A7) you have chosen to cite as reason for deletion specifically excluded articles related to schools, and all the more unjustified is your usage of that guideline since this is a list as part of a main article, the alternative being to plonk everything into one huge page. I have created plenty of lists in my history in this site, and in the only time such a debate has insured, it has survived deletion when others realised it is part of a main article. Hence I will appreciate your reversal of your unilateral decision, and if you wish, you can always flag it to go through proper AfD procedures to get third party opinion. Allow me to remind that speedy deletions are only to be used for very obvious, uncontested cases.--Huaiwei (talk) 19:53, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Fair enough. I've restored the article, and listed it and the Chinese orchestra results table at AFD. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:54, 22 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Gin In Teacups edit

The article was speedly deleted, I assume based on your own personal rules for speedy deletion, as you could have assumed it was a page for "my independent production company who puts film on youtube". In fact it is not mine and it's not even doing films, and according to wikipedia's criteria for notability of a web related subject, Gin In Teacups satisfies at least two out of three criteria (it is stated ONE would be enough for the subject to be considered satisfactory of the notability criteria.)

1. The content itself has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the site itself. This criterion includes reliable published works in all forms, such as newspaper and magazine articles, books, television documentaries, websites, and published reports by consumer watchdog organizations

Some of the Gin In Teacups videos have been featured by the NME website. One of these features was also reported as a reference in the wikipedia article.

3. The content is distributed via a medium which is both respected and independent of the creators, either through an online newspaper or magazine, an online publisher, or an online broadcaster;[7] except for trivial distribution including content being hosted on sites without editorial oversight (such as YouTube, MySpace, Newgrounds, personal blogs, etc.).

As specificied by the end of the article, content from Gin In Teacups is also distributed by uk Music Webzine God Is In The Tv zine, subjecting it to editorial oversight, hence covering this notability criterium as well.

Given these explanation I'd ask for the page to be restored.

many thanks. Sheentylla (talk) 01:08, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Nawlin edit

Noticed that Robin Lane Medical Centre has just been deleted under the reasons "commercial advertising'.

The purpose of the article is inspired by the Kingsfund research document quoted which advises the need for primary care to evolve from a reactive to a proactive service if the future challenges are to be met. Robin Lane MC is one of the first to proactively make fundamental changes and in this respect is a pilot demonstrating changes, impact and sustainability. In this respect, there is a significant research component that will become increasingly significant once the NHS Health and Social Care bill is passed (which will put significant decision making powers in primary care). Therefore, the article is not about advertising, since patients choose GP practices by where they live or by contacting the NHS. The article is about Robin Lane as a future new breed of primary care, and about the medical centre itself which is pioneering the approach, and so their will be increased interest.

The article needs to be expanded to include more research, sources and information focusing on the change and interventions specifically.

Could you advise please?

Best wishes

Mevforbes (talk) 12:05, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Even if patients don't directly choose a clinic in the UK, the article needs to be written in neutral language (no "a new beginning" and the like), see WP:NPOV. Also, it's not enough that you (or I) think that a business is new or innovative. You need to find reliable independent sources (see WP:V) that discuss the business and that demonstrate why it is notable per WP:CORP. If you can do those, feel free to repost. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 12:22, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Cratey edit

I have not got a role in Cratey, and there was no link to a website promoting it and definitely not a referral link or anything along those lines. I was trying to provide factual information, for people who want to know a bit about Cratey before they join it or people who are members and want to know a bit about its past. Cashcrate is a huge company and it is in my opinion important for it to have a Wiki Page. Also, I spent hours looking at sources, trying to provide the best facts possible. Could I please be advised on how I should best improve it? Do I need more sources/images?

Please help!

Best Regards

Dojam1 (talk) 16:01, 25 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Even if you're not making any money from the site, an article that is written in the tone of "Gee, this site is great, you should join it, here's how it works!" is going to be deleted as promotional and in violation of our policies requiring a neutral point of view. Also, and perhaps even more importantly, you need to cite reliable independent sources (that means not Cashcrate itself) that show how the website meets the notability standards set out at WP:WEB. Speedy Deletion edit

Hi, I am trying to add a collaboration software company that has been in business for a number of years. I understand that I have to make the page notable or indicate why it should be on wikipedia. I am not sure how I can do that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adakshina (talkcontribs) 20:24, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • You need to find reliable independent sources (see WP:V) that demonstrate how the company meets the notability requirements of WP:CORP. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:27, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the quick response. I have at least 3 references from online magazines and newswires to offer notability. Will that not suffice?

  • Depends on what they are - they need to be more than PR reprints. Please do read WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:30, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Kellogg Page deletion edit

Greetings,

Schlaude created a page on The Kellogg Conference Center for our class TC 210 at MSU. You speedily deleted the page and posted that the article didn't meet Wikipedia's notability criteria. The student has come to speak with me about the issue and would like to re-create the page, but is unclear exactly what you mean by "indicate why the subject is really notable." Is this done in the introductory section of the page? On the talk page? I think this a great opportunity to communicate with a newbie about how to properly contribute to Wikipedia, so I would encourage you to provide some constructive feedback instead of just quick deletion. The note on his talk page was much appreciated, but how to proceed was unclear. Would you mind posting a note on his talk page describing briefly what is expected? Thanks. Jaobar (talk) 20:24, 27 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Will do. For your reference, the article itself needs to cite reliable, independent sources (i.e., not the center's own website -- see WP:V) to show how the center meets our notability requirements as set out at WP:N. NawlinWiki (talk) 00:33, 28 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Traumatic masturbatory syndrome edit

I am aware that a page about Traumatic Masturbatory Syndrome (TMS) was created and speedily deleted today. I don't know who created it. I created the original page about TMS in 2004. The article remained until about 2007 when it was merged by vote into masturbation. Eventually the content about TMS was completely deleted from that article. (The history and discussion is somewhere in the talk archive for masturbation.) From what I can see on Google (about the first line), the page that was created today contains text from my web site HealthyStrokes dot com. I cannot see the rest of the article so I don't know what was in it. However, I can assure you that TMS is not a hoax. If you had done even a minimum of web searching, you would have found HealthyStrokes dot com, and if you had searched Google Scholar, you would have found an article about TMS by Dr. Lawrence I. Sank. (You might also look at the "articles" page on HealthyStrokes dot com.) I am OK with today's article being deleted; however, would you please change the reason for deletion from "blatant hoax" to "re-creation of previously deleted article" or something to that effect. By calling it a hoax, you are defaming a legitimate scholarly effort with sources going back to 1978, including some of the leading authorities on male sexuality. It is quite shocking that "blatant hoax" is the first arrow out of the quiver here. Please contact me through the HealthyStrokes web site if you wish further information or if you would like me to send you a 50 pp. PDF about TMS that will show you that it is not a hoax. I would have contacted you sooner but I only got the Google alert that the article was created a few minutes ago since my Yahoo mail was crashed all day.4.253.96.72 (talk) 01:47, 29 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
