Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

Yep, its all true, I'm back in full capacity. Whats more is that I am on holiday and am physically limited (got clipped by a SUV while jogging last week, how bad is that?) so that means more time for wikipedia. User:David91

edit

Per a request on Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians, I'm trying to find out if anyone knows what happened to User:David91. He stopped editing around April 12, 2006, when he was admitted to the hospital for some tests. He possibly lived in Singapore (likely in or near Ang Mo Kio which he edited 3 times--but with enough detail to suggest a strong familiarity with the place), and was probably the oldest Wikipedian at the age of 94 (based on a reference from 2003 when he said he was 91). Based on his numerous contributions in law it is possible he was a retired lawyer of some kind. He also contributed to linguistics, sociology, and science fiction articles. He was part of Wikipedia:WikiProject International law (though it didn't really get off the ground) and he made nearly 5000 edits. He evidently was also a well-respected member of other Internet communities he was involved in during his retirement. Any information on David91 would be appreciated. Thanks, --Alabamaboy 13:25, 10 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hello Natalya,

I noticed your blocking of the IP 194.83.172.227, I am in no way objecting to this block and I know of the IP’s horrendous vandalism record. However you should know that 194.83.172.227 is a school (my school) network with several hundred computers that about a thousand pupils and staff can accesses. I would therefore appreciate it if unregistered users could be blocked from editing but registered users could still edit from this IP. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Zippokovich (talkcontribs)

A short Esperanzial update

edit

As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.

As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.

Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Re:Elections statement

edit

Thanks Natalya. :o) I'm glad you're running too, and I actually think your statement is better than mine. It wasn't easy to write, so someone suggested that I look through my contributions to explain what I do at Esperanza, so the majority of my statement is based off that. Other than that, I felt it was best to keep it simple. Well, best of luck, and I'm sure I'll talk to you again soon. :o) EWS23 (Leave me a message!) 22:41, 24 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Blocking

edit

As far as I know, the account sharing that IP will be blocked for as long as the block you placed on the IP. There is no way they can be protected from collateral damage I'm afraid (used to suffer from it on a daily basis). I believe there is some discussion taking place on the subject, to change the software, but at the moment, if you block the IP, you block the account, and there is nothing further you can do. Good luck with the elections. :) -- Banes 20:18, 25 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it is a bad sign. The vexxing thing is, it's no longer ILM giving me the bother, it's certain other people, who think my warnings are a joke. I am going to rip someone's head off soon, the little voice in my head saying, "you'll never be an admin!", is getting more muffled everytime someone has a stab at me.

Just life, and this, and ugh. RL is sucking, my heart is within hours of being smashed by a clarinet wielding girl and her genetic throwback boyfriend, I am stuck alone the whole summer, and A Man In Black is trying to push me over the edge. He annoys me, he really does. If someone gives you a barnstar, you say thank you. I really don't like him.

I'm sorry I can't vote for you, I'll be emotional support, ;) but have a nice time, wherever. I'll make sure all the votes are valid, (it seems the only thing I'm going to be good at) and good luck in the elections. Highway Rainbow Sneakers 13:21, 30 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
