It's excessive to add Short Sale to every real estate related article. Please stop. OhNoitsJamie Talk 14:28, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Short sale (real estate)

edit

Thanks for attempting to rewrite the article at Short sale (real estate). Unfortunately, you seem to be heavily promoting a specific website and have turned it into an uncited and opinionated 'how-to' guide so I've reverted the material for now. If you'd like to use the article's talk page to discuss the problems with your edits, please do so. You also seem to be added a link to your altered article to many different articles; please don't overlink to slightly related topics. Thanks. Kuru talk 14:29, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Kuru has already told you whats wrong, but you choose to add back your links again. The material also looks like it could have been copied verbatim from your website or somewhere else. I am reverting it and will do so again. Please read external link guidelines , what wikipedia is and is not and even spam articleMontco (talk) 15:17, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Yes there are no links, but the page retains a highly promotional tone and a "how to" aspect. I think you should discuss various aspects of your edits prior to mass re-insertion. There may be some useful content here, but here are some specific problems.
  • "An incredible opportunity lies in buying a short sale. Since there are thousands of homes in loan default and facing foreclosure, the property owners need to get out of their mortgage fast before the bank takes them over." is utterly unsourced and seems a bit self serving.
  • This bit "If you have been thinking of buying a home, don't buy retail, you can currently buy below wholesale. Most homes are being sold at a 25%-60% discount of their market value. For example: A home purchased in 2005 for $400,000 can easily be purchased today for $200,000-$250,000, if shopped and negotiated correctly." looks like it was ripped off your webpage or marketing materials"
  • "For you protection we recommend that you work with real estate specialist that has exceptional experience in short sale negotiations. They can help you identify the mortgages and deeds of the proprieties that are in pre-foreclosure or foreclosure. In addition, finding the right home for you, they can actually make sure you’re protected from future repercussion you may have with the lender." Encyclopedia articles aren't written in the first person and don't make recommendations to the reader.
  • "Working with a short sale specialist can dramatically increase your chances of a lender approving your short sale offer. If everything is done correctly everyone will reap the benefits of a short sale. The buyer gets the home they were looking for at a reasonable price. The lender gets the settlement offer they want and cut their losses. The realtor makes a small commission, and by far the biggest winner is the seller. The seller gets to avoid foreclosure (possibly bankruptcy), save their credit, and most importantly relieve themselves from any financial responsibility they have as a part of the negotiation." Again this is broad, self serving and unsourced. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Montco (talkcontribs) 16:11, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I fully agree with these editors' comments. Work has begun to neutralize the article.
It would make sense to discuss changes to the article on its talk page for all to see. Viva-Verdi (talk) 16:23, 8 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when.
