Hello, I'm Shirt58. I noticed that you made a comment on the page Talk:Emu#Reverting NPOV isn't "original research". that didn't seem very civil. Your account was registered in 2009, but you haven't made many edits since then. So I will assume that you are writing as a relative newby. Words like "laughably provincial", "you obviously struggle with basic functional literacy", "froth-mouthed, linguistically-ignorant hate-rant from an Australian" are unacceptable. Please don't use those kind of words again. Shirt58 (talk) 10:35, 24 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Bring it up with your countryman, and his decision to include petulant NPOV-violations in the main text of an allegedly encyclopedic article. And then choosing, instead of admitting his total ignorance of the subject—people who are demonstrably ignorant of linguistics have no more right to voice opinions on it than the Flat Earth Society has to comment on astrophysics—to spew forth laughable anti-American stereotype-mongering. Civility is a two-way street; don't include insults to other countries in the text of articles, or double down on the bigotry when the inappropriateness is pointed out, and your country won't be insulted. It's not really very difficult.
I probably shouldn't have responded to having my country insulted by insulting his, and I apologize to you for any offense, but the conversation should never have been taking place in the first place, because the first time I removed "erroneous", he shouldn't have reinstated the mindless, petulant slur. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
