Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Just Harrison edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Just Harrison, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. October 2021 edit

Hello, I'm Dylan620. I noticed that in this edit to Livyatan, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Dylan620 (talk) 04:21, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

November 2021 edit

If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Largoplazo (talk) 11:21, 3 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Mount Melbourne. Ormewood (talk) 19:10, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I think I should have my edit privileges returned because my edit was not an act of vandalism, but of good faith. I believed I was fixing a typo, as it showed 30 years, which I assumed was 30 years ago. It displayed 1892, which I thought was a typo, so I changed it to 1992. I have realized that I was wrong in this edit. However, my earlier acts of vandalism warrant this block valid. Please consider removing the block. Thank you. Mystic880 (talk) 20:35, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Decline reason:

Trying to spin one edit as a good faith one isn't particularly helpful for you, as if I believe you, it indicates that you are too careless with your editing. I see no grounds here to remove the block. It may help for you to describe a specific, substantive(more than fixing typos) edit you would make. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 21:42, 12 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

A few comments to you, from Ormewood edit

I've looked over most of your edits and comments. I think you're probably still pretty young and probably sometimes having a hard time with your life. I also lost a cat recently, by the way, Amber, my Manx, who was with me for 22 years. My wife brought her home as a kitten about a year before she died, so Amber was also kind of a last connection to her.

I'm sorry you got permanently blocked. Wikipedia is a staggeringly amazing resource, though...if it were printed, like the last print version of the 32-volume Encyclopedia Britannica, by my calculations just the English Wikipedia would be about 1700 volumes, and it's the result of the efforts of tens of thousands of editors, all of them unpaid volunteers. The fact that it exists at all, much less continues to be a useful resource in the face of constant vandalism, just floors me. I would love to see what becomes of it in the far future. I can picture it as the first centralized repository of human knowledge, many thousands of times larger than it is now, with assistance and editing augmented by AIs. It may turn out to be one of the noblest efforts of humanity. It deserves to be protected now, in its infancy, against the constant onslaught of vandalism that would erode it away completely within a matter of weeks if it weren't constantly defended. It's not some corporate institution. It's a group effort by countless volunteers who are trying to build and maintain something worthwhile. It deserves your respect.

Please be someone who supports and builds Wikipedia, not one of the many who constantly damage it. Editing is hard; doing it correctly involves following a lot of rules, and it's a steep learning curve. But it's better than tearing it down for your own amusement. At the very least, join those of us who combat vandalism, rather than commit it.

Everything you do on Wikipedia is recorded. Comments like this:

"Oh btw is there a page to see new edits? Whenever I vandalize I meant contribute it gets instantly revoked"

did not help your case. By the way, the answer to that question is Yes; there is a group of volunteers who constantly monitor new edits for vandalism. There are also increasingly sophisticated bots that help in this. Nothing is perfect, though, and things make it through that should have been caught, and become misinformation that gets repeated over and over, long after their origin in a Wikipedia page is forgotten. Consider being part of the solution rather than part of the problem.

You can still edit. You could, for instance, do it through your school, where you could open a new account with a new user name, and avoid being blocked for using the same IP as your "Mystic 880" user name. Please don't use an unregistered account through your school so that you can start vandalizing again, though; that can end with the IP of an entire school being blocked. Wikipedia is reluctant to do that, but if there's persistent vandalism coming from a school it becomes necessary, and it's unfair to the rest of the students who have done nothing wrong. If you become a vandal again, at least register a user name; that way, when you are eventually blocked again, it will only be you, not the IP of the entire school.

Good luck. Ormewood (talk) 14:27, 13 July 2022 (UTC)Reply
