I am wondering edit

if you have q reference for what Louis Sullivan said about Graham, Anderson, Probst & White's work, or was it just a generic Sullivan rant? Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 15:14, 13 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for noticing my entries! I was thinking of Sullivan's infamous comment regarding the two banks at the foot of La Salle Street, the Illinois Merchants Bank/Continental Illinois Bank Building and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, both GAP&W projects -- the gist of which was that the Beaux Arts/Classical design was so outdated that the bankers might as well wear togas -- and his disparaging remarks about the Beaux Arts style of the Columbian Exposition setting back architecture at least 50 years, which are from Sullivan's own writings and cited on his Wikipedia biography page. I thought these comments were well enough known, but perhaps not. (Mrtraska) 13 December 2011

I've changed spindle to Spindle (sculpture) as Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Route 66 Museum had a source identifying Berwyn as trying to bring back *that specific spindle* and not spindles in general. If this is incorrect, please feel free to revert. I've also added the museum infobox. I didn't check to see if we have any free images of Berwyn (although we do have some free Flickr CC-BY-SA photos for a similar museum in Pontiac); if you can find one of this specific museum, please add it. K7L (talk) 23:02, 10 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for that modification! Very helpful. I forgot that the reference to the artwork probably needed further disambiguation. Thanks also for inserting the box in the right-hand sidebar. I had thought about putting in the museum box muself but haven't found a free-use photograph of the museum yet.Mrtraska (talk) 23:49, 10 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Doug Moran ID photo-1.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Doug Moran ID photo-1.jpg, which you've sourced to Doug Moran. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:24, 24 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Disambiguation link notification for April 28 edit

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Douglas Moran (author), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Republican Party (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Thank you. This has now been corrected: the link goes to Republican Party (United States). Mrtraska (talk) 14:41, 29 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Douglas Moran.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Douglas Moran.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 19:12, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Eeekster, please note that I merely posted a copy of an e-mail that was already sent to Wikimedia Commons by Doug Moran himself -- y'all need to read your mail! Could someone over there please look for that so that this problem stops resurfacing? Thanks! Mrtraska (talk) 20:56, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Douglas Moran (author) edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Douglas Moran (author), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. DGG ( talk ) 03:27, 30 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi, Mrtraska and thanks for your comments in the deletion discussion. The right place for those comments is on the main discussion page at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Berwyn_Route_66_Museum, rather than on the associated talk page. Really, there shouldn't be a separate talk page but I think every page on Wikipedia has one, whether it ought to or not. Anyway, don't worry – I copied your comments into the main discussion so you don't need to do anything to fix this. Also, since you were recommending that the page be kept, I added a boldface "Keep" to the start of your comment, which helps to summarise. Please delete that if I misunderstood your comment – seems unlikely, in this case, but I thought I should mention it. (By the way, only one comment per person should have a boldface tag like that so you shouldn't repeat it if you make more comments in the discussion.) Let me know if you need any more help on this, or if there's anything you don't understand about the process. I've put your talk page on my watchlist so I'll see any replies you make to this comment. London Guarantee Building edit

Thanks for your content contribution to London Guarantee Building. Please make sure to use WP:ICs from WP:RS for each all facts that you add. I noticed you added a few ICs, but you also added several facts without any ICs. I will remove these unsourced facts assuming that they are WP:OR if you don't add ICs from RSs to them.--TonyTheTiger (T / C / WP:FOUR / WP:CHICAGO / WP:WAWARD) 00:34, 31 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but the reference to London Guaranty & Accident Company, an insurance firm, was found in legal documents that were part of lawsuits; I have no idea how to reference them, nor would other people necessarily be able to find them online, though I'd suggest using Ixquick or Dogpile for a search. However, the company's name is inscribed above the building's entrance -- something you can see if you look carefully at a photograph of the building facade (i.e., it's self-evident from the photo) -- and the company's name is also mentioned on the Emporis page cited in another paragraph. As for the information on the London House, it's taken from the Wikipedia page on the London House; obviously, the citations for that page are there. So, I'm not clear: exactly what else do you think is missing an appropriate citation? Mrtraska (talk) 01:57, 31 August 2014 (UTC)Reply
