August 2014 edit

If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 07:09, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Edit summary edit

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. --220 of Borg 08:02, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Overlinking edit

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. In your recent edit to Jalpaiguri, you added links to an article which did not add content or meaning, or repeated the same link several times throughout the article. Please see Wikipedia's guideline on links to avoid overlinking. Thank you. 220 of Borg 08:26, 27 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Article 'ownership' edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to Wikipedia. However, please remember that editors do not own articles and should respect the work of their fellow contributors on Jalpaiguri. If you create or edit an article, remember that others are free to change its content. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Removal of valid maintenance templates, while re-adding un-sourced unencyclopedic content without any explanation, could be classed as disruptive editing, or even vandalism. 220 of Borg 07:51, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to blank out or remove portions of page content, templates, or other materials from Wikipedia, as you did at North Bengal, you may be blocked from editing. Thank you. Jim1138 (talk) 08:04, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Let's talk edit

As we seem to be at odds, how about we have a discussion about why you have removed maintenance templates, and re-added un-sourced and possibly promotional edits to the Jalpaiguri page.

Remember Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and lists of shops in a town aren't very encyclopedic.--220 of Borg 08:03, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

It appears that you don't want to talk as you are continuing to add promotional material to the page. here. Interesting that Mohan Bose is supposedly the name of the towns Mayor. If true, if you are 'Mohan Bose' you have a Conflict of interest and should not be editing this page in a promotional manner, if at all.--220 of Borg 08:23, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

August 2014 edit

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Jalpaiguri. While objective prose about beliefs, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. 220 of Borg 08:26, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add soapboxing, promotional or advertising material to Wikipedia, as you did at Jalpaiguri, you may be blocked from editing.
You do realise that the manner of your editing here and refusal to communicate does nothing but show Jalpaiguri in a 'bad light'?
220 of Borg 08:50, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Jalpaiguri. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. While edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, breaking the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. 220 of Borg 09:32, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Disruptive editing edit

Mohan, User:220 of Borg has been trying to help you by giving you advice on how to edit in Wikipedia, and pointing you toward resources so you can learn how to be a better contributor. I strongly encourage you to heed that advice. Wikipedia is a community of volunteers. Like any community, it has rules to help people get along better. When you ignore those rules, your behaviour is disruptive to the community, and your edits will be reverted. This is a waste of your time and other people's time. If you continue to do this, you will be blocked from editing. Ground Zero | t 11:00, 28 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Dhupguri subdivision edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Dhupguri subdivision, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Removing maintenance template-Unsourced edit

You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you remove the maintenance templates from Wikipedia articles without resolving the problem that the template refers to, as you did at Institute of Pharmacy, Jalpaiguri.

  • My edit summary explains why I reverted. Yours doesn't, and is against WP policy. 220 of Borg 13:01, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Introducing Unsourced, Promotional content edit

This is your only warning; if you vandalize Wikipedia again, as you did at Jalpaiguri, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.
Once again removing maintenance templates, replacing sourced encyclopedic information such as population numbers with figures that have no source, and adding unsourced, promotional content.

Edit Warring, again edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Jalpaiguri. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. 220 of Borg 18:45, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Blocked. You have received many warnings that you will be blocked from editing if you continue to edit war, and you went ahead and continued your edits without discussing them on the articles' talk pages. So, as promised, you are blocked from editing. If you use other accounts to continue to ignore Wikipedia's rules, I will block those too. If you continue this behaviour without signing in to Wikipedia, I will protect the articles from editing by unregistered users. You are wasting your time and the time of other editors in attempting to impose your version of these articles on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort, and you cannot get your own way. you have to work with others to make changes here. Is that clear? Ground Zero | t 20:45, 1 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Dhupguri subdivision edit

Hello, Mohan Bose,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Hughesdarren and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Dhupguri subdivision, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Hughesdarren}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
