Users

After reading thru your RfA, [sure, I invite all Wikipedians to yell at me publicly for what I did], I find it odd that the IP first pulled up details relating to my discussion with Wikiality123, and further Suraj845 accuses other users who had a similar viewpoint as me for ganging up with me. Odd huh? Or do you see a pattern? I'm not suggesting Sock puppets/Meta Puppets [whatever that means]. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 11:32, 3 February 2012 (UTC)

Hi Mike,

I am in the Wikipedia:United States Education Program Writing as Communication. Zachary McDowell is my instructor. Do you have any good ideas for articles? (Pdebarro (talk) 14:22, 3 February 2012 (UTC))

Recent angst on my talk page

Thanks for your comments in that thread. I am half-minded to keep an eye on what RK does for the next few days - not article edits, but talk page stuff. But they're probably just some young kid with a lot of braggadocio. - Sitush (talk) 13:47, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Ah, better to let it go I guess. Probably needs some time to cool down. Though, yes, might be worth monitoring for incivility. Lynch7 13:52, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

DYK

Heya Mike, I plan to nominate a certain section of my current article(s), Coimbatore bypass and Mysore Ring Road for DYK. Please guide me thru the nomination process either on wiki or off wiki. Cheers and Regards, --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 11:52, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

I think its a tad too late to nominate Coimbatore Bypass for DYK, since it was expanded before 5 days. You might have a chance for the Mysore Ring Road, provided you expand it 5x within 5 days. A tip for your next DYK: Create the page as a userspace draft first; expand it at your own leisure (no time limits), and then move it to mainspace, then nominate it for DYK. (I've only got a handful of DYKs, so I'm not all that experienced here :) ). Lynch7 14:31, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the tip! Worked outside the main article page. But...5x is damn difficult to catch. But have anyways nominated this. I hope they make exceptions. (sheepish smiley) -Animeshkulkarni (talk) 15:28, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Yep, 5x is difficult :) . Hehe, good luck! Lynch7 16:38, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Deepika Padukone

Was it your intention to reinstate the Indian Hindus cat when you sorted out the Konkan stuff earlier? I had removed it as a BLP vio - did I miss something? - Sitush (talk) 18:15, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

My mistake, rectified! Lynch7 18:18, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

Done. Swords are sharp enough. Lynch7 21:33, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
Oooh, I am scared now! It means that you probably can work out how to block me ;) Sitush (talk) 21:40, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
One stroke of the sword click of a button is all it takes ;) Lynch7 21:44, 4 February 2012 (UTC)
I had forgotten that you have probably done this stuff before on other projects. Purely out of interest, does this caste mess appear on those? I realise that the number of articles (&, probably, contributors) is less. And I still think that you should block Jimbo and delete the main page. - Sitush (talk) 01:52, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
It does, on a larger scale. But situations have to be handled differently there; since those Wikipedias are written by Indians only, the chances of introduction of NPOV content are higher. Most such inclusions are good faith ones, and if I go about warning/blocking users who introduce such content, the project will go kaput. So, what I do is actively monitor pages for grossly biased content. Its important to remember that the "standard" of neutrality is different there (understandably so, but regrettable). Lynch7 05:04, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Protection request.

Hello. Sorry to disturb you, but can you protect the articles Yu-Gi-Oh!: Bonds Beyond Time and Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie: Pyramid of Light? An Irish vandal using addresses on the 86.43.*.* range keeps removing all Japanese references and credits from these pages. It seems that he doesn't want admit these two are Japanese films. He is doing his vandalism long-term. He is also adding hoax "Digimon Tigers" credits to several voice actor pages. BTW, they're listed in WP:RFPP right now, but I read that it is currently backlogged. Thanks in advance. - 上村七美 (Nanami-chan) | talkback | contribs 10:21, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Scripts in the lead

What is the consensus for BLPs? Vensatry (Ping me) 11:13, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Same for all India related articles. [1]/ Lynch7 11:16, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
Even in articles which have been quite stable? Also geographic ones? Mass-removal? Apologies. Its a rather confusing consensus. X.One SOS 15:39, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
DeltaQuad kindly clarified the consensus in the diff provided above. All India related articles. Mass removal is not implied. It doesn't have to be taken out all at once; we can do it over a period of time, say, 6-10 months. Lynch7 15:48, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

RfC

I appreciate your initiative of opening an RfC, but is it possible for the discussion to be held somewhere else, like a subpage perhaps (eg. Talk:Pakistan/RfC). This article is currently being worked on for being promoted to FA-status (see the recent peer review process and the extensive editing the article has undergone since the last month) and as such, the talk page is being used for discussions relating to this effort. An RfC may make the page excessively long. Mar4d (talk) 15:15, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

  • I don't mind. Feel free to move, though a note on the talk page saying that there is an open RfC going on might be wise. Lynch7 15:17, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
  • I think the article is a long-way off from being an FA. It is also essential that users who arrive on this page from the RfC listings get a full overview of the existing disputes and contentions on the article talk page. Once the RfC has concluded, the discussion can be archived and linked to the talk page, if required. — Nearly Headless Nick {C} 15:26, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Article Camerarka

Hello MikeLynch, need to inform you that the article Camerarka has been created by User:Camerarka who has moved it to that page. I suggest that this article be deleted as soon as possible as there seems to be a possible conflict of interest here because i suspect that the user has created the article on himself and writing on it since many months now. The user has now also redirected his user talk page User talk:Camerarka to Aurko Mukherjee. Thank you. TheGeneralUser (talk) 20:32, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Incivility

Thought I should let you know... This sort of thing is unacceptable. Thanks. Scieberking (talk) 16:14, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, but ignorance is bliss, they say. I'm least bothered; I worry about edits, not the editors themselves. About the comments itself, this is not just incivility, its harassment and a personal attack as well. If you so feel inclined, you can start a ANI thread. Lynch7 16:23, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
I feel so too. An attack is an attack and repeated instances deserve a block. Its a feeling of disgrace Wikipedians get if they are influenced by such comments. How exactly do you start a thread at WP:ANI? X.One SOS 17:10, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Just as you would start any other talk page thread. Provide diffs for easier reference. Lynch7 17:15, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Bodyguard collections

Hi MikeLynch. I rarely spam talk pages, but would you please comment here (whatever you think is right). Providing the maximum possible gross figure for Ra.One which is an official number, and disallowing a third-party reliable source isn't fair for Bodyguard. Thanks in advance. Vishwakarma (caste)

I've been having some difficulties getting to grips with Vishwakarma (caste), which has been threatening to spiral into a huge article that basically covers content which already exists elsewhere. There was some discussion here but when the contributor continued to add more content today I ended up doing a restore and taking the matter to the article talk page. I do not dispute the sourcing etc, although it was going to need a huge copyedit, but I wonder whether you can shed any light on the subject area? - Sitush (talk) 11:02, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry, noticed this just now. I'm not quite in the mood to take on long content issues today, sorry! If the matter is still on, I'll have a look at it tomorrow. Lynch7 17:01, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
It is not a rush job. I just cannot get my head round the concept here. I've tried again to formulate my query on the article talk page, and have given a couple of possible examples. Once the conceptual side is sorted out then everything should fall into place into terms of what information goes in which article etc. - Sitush (talk) 19:56, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Sock

Hi MikeLynch. It has been pointed by two different editors that Zubeidaaslam786 (talk · contribs) is a sockpuppet of either Ashermadan (talk · contribs) or Meryam90 (talk · contribs). I think there's strong evidence because the account was created on Feb 8, the same day when the dispute started. Meryam90 claims she's from Morocco, whereas Zubeidaaslam786 mentions her geographical location as Pakistan, which could be the same as Ashermadan. I'm having difficulty selecting the master sock in WP:SPI. Could you please help? Thank you very much. Scieberking (talk) 12:19, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for bothering you again, Mike :) I will sort this out myself. Regards, Scieberking (talk) 16:02, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Please Mike, go ahead and investigate, because I am 100% sure that's NOT me lol --Meryam90 (talk) 22:23, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Just when you though this Bodyguard argument was over it starts up again. Very nice. This dispute will never resolve itself, you can count on that. Ashermadan (talk) 22:44, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Page Move

This article should be moved to Mouna Ragam, as the actual title per credits of the film is Mouna Ragam. Also see the NFA Archives for ref. Vensatry (Ping me) 11:06, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

But the poster itself says Mouna Raagam right? :) Lynch7 11:34, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
It doesn't look like an official poster. It must be a fan-made picture. Vensatry (Ping me) 11:49, 11 February 2012 (UTC)
I thought the same. Follow the procedure listed at WP:RM; users may object to the page move, and so its not uncontroversial. Lynch7 11:52, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

With all due respect, you don't need to be telling that to me of all people. :-) I work 12 hour shifts myself, five hours on weekends. But when i am online (even when i am very busy), i at least have the proper courtesy to leave a short timely response. As such, i automatically expect the same of others in return, volunteers or subordinates. Although i agree that i should have assumed good faith, it's still a pardonable offense nonetheless, unless the guy has an over-sized ego the size of Mt. Everest.
