Simply undo their edit, and give the reason for undoing in the edit summary. Lynch7 10:59, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
Your user page tells me you are in Bangalore. We in Bangalore frequently organize Wikimeetups. Feel free to attend one! Lynch7 10:59, 6 December 2011 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Unfortunate not to have met you in the last meetup. :-( Nivu next meetupku barthira?-RaviMy Tea Kadai 16:13, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Illa Ravi, In fact I've attended only one meetup :P . I live on the other side of town, and without a vehicle, it takes me 3 hours just to travel to Domlur. I'll attend the meetup in January if my semester exams don't come in the way. Hope to meet you then! BTW, did you come to WCI 11? Lynch7 16:26, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Hmm, I 2 did find it difficult to attend meetups previously. But I've recently moved to Koramangala and since Domlur is nearby, I'll try to attend them. Nope, I didn't attend WC11. If you find it difficult to attend meetups in Bangalore, think how difficult it would have been for me to attend the conference in Mumbai :P -RaviMy Tea Kadai 16:44, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Hehe, it went on very well; Wish I could have met you and Sodabottle like I met many others there. Never mind, hope to see you around in town sometime! Lynch7 16:56, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification

Hi. In P.E.S. Institute of Technology, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Mint (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. For more information, see the FAQ or drop a line at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 11:24, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

Help please

Hey Mike, can you please tell how to become members of the various "groups" on Wikipedia. For example, there people who welcome new editors on Wikipedia, there are people who monitor recent changes. I want to become a member who deletes inactive users on Wikipedia, delete pages that do not comply with the requirements on Wikipedia, and some more.Jobin (talk) 15:28, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Well

Of course, we should assume good faith for a new user, who has not been given any warning. But look at that guy's contributions and decide whether he should be given a warning or not. In this edit, the guy has removed my warning post without a summary. Earlier, he had created an article called Singam 2 which was nominated for deletion by me and redirected. Do you know how many times the guy removed the deletion notice from the page? He has also been given several warnings in the past, which he has just removed from his talk page without any summary. For instance, see this. He removed an edit warring warning and a deletion notice warning, put up by me and User:Johannes003. Again, I apologize if I had not assumed good faith but seriously do you continuously keep assuming good faith without any limit? Not only that, he is the first guy to make an non-constructive edit to my user page. See, how many undo's he has made without any summary, some of them being edits of experienced editors. I'm done with this, if wiki tolerates vandalism, then it's not long before the world comes to an end, so best enjoy your life till the last moment instead of wasting time for such things like this. X.One SOS 15:10, 7 December 2011 (UTC)

You cannot ask new editors to start using edit summaries like experienced editors. See his talk page. See the enthusiasm with which he responds to kindness. You should get the message that users respond better to kindness than otherwise. Users frequently remove talk page warnings; there is absolutely nothing new in that, and there is nothing wrong in that. You cannot treat all vandals like the way you treat IP hopping serial vandals. Everyone has a learning curve, and some are longer than the others.
Its a different matter if he did not respond to any message, and continued to vandalize. That is clearly not the case here. You present a new editor with big red signs and bolded letters saying he will be blocked; of course he will be offended, and no doubt that the point you were trying to drive into him, will not reach him. We want to encourage new editors to stay and make good edits. At a time when editor growth is declining, the last thing we want to do is to act the way that Indian airport security does. Lynch7 15:29, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
He has continued his way of vandalism even after a few warnings. Check his contributions, he has been increasing box office figures for Suriya's films without sources, though he has been warned several times. The guideline you gave says "The removal of a warning is taken as evidence that the warning has been read by the user." If he has taken into mind several warnings and still not changed, how can you take it as a good faith edit?? Also, the vandal guideline says "Watch for future vandalism from the vandal by checking the user's contributions. If bad faith edits continue, revert them and use higher level warning tags on their talk page", which is exactly what I did. He has sufficient bad faith edits which can be seen clearly. X.One SOS 15:42, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Oh, and of course you can't say that if a guy who makes non-constructive edits is replying with enthusiasm, he will show the same in his edits, constructively. I also noticed that you said "You cannot ask new editors to start using edit summaries." I think you meant to say "expect new editors". X.One SOS 15:46, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
Figure of speech. Look, I'm not saying that he'll start making clean edits as soon as someone welcomes him with a plate of tortillas. I'm saying, we should guide new users who show some intent to contribute constructively. Wikipedia is a labyrinth of rules and guidelines, and we must make all efforts to guide users through it. Everyone knows that us "experienced" Wikipedians make good lawyers; All I'm saying is: Look for some positive sign from the editor. Catch hold of it and try to convert him into a good editor. If he doesn't respond to kindness, that's his problem. If you don't have the patience to make good editors, ask someone else to handle it. Lynch7 16:02, 7 December 2011 (UTC)
All the above seems fine, but I don't see any major reason for objecting the warning given to him. We can guide him to the best of our ability, but at the same time the dark side should also be polished. And its certainly not about WP:BITE, as you think. X.One SOS 07:48, 8 December 2011 (UTC)
Look at how he responds to comments by Abhishek191288 and me. When it is clear that he follows instructions given nicely, why give templated warnings that we know he will not take heed. Lynch7 11:54, 8 December 2011 (UTC)

Again, its not about how he nicely he responds to a particular user's messages. Rather, it is about how he heeds the warnings given to him. "why give templated warnings that we know he will not take heed" I beg your pardon? He has to take heed, he just cannot ignore such messages at his own will. As Wp:REMOVED says "The removal of material from a user page is normally taken to mean that the user has read and is aware of its contents." He has to respond accordingly. See my talk for his replies. I hope he won't indulge in any more of this. Cheers. X.One SOS 11:57, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Reading a warning is one thing, and mending his ways is another thing. True, if you were to go to ANI or ArbCom and argue a case, saying that "Yes, he has read the warning - See this diff! he has removed it" Then you will win the case, you're a good lawyer. What I said is: When you know he will not mend his ways when you give nasty warnings, and you know he will respond positively when you give nicer warnings, then why give nasty templated warnings? Lynch7 13:16, 9 December 2011 (UTC)
If you think that my warning was "nasty", please check what I wrote and come to a conclusion. X.One SOS 07:54, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Anyway, for the sake of being a wikipedian, I'll try to avoid the signs and use a "friendlier" language. Thanks for everything! X.One SOS 07:57, 10 December 2011 (UTC)
Never mind, lets just be more friendly :) Lynch7 08:24, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Responding to RFCs

Remember that RFCs are part of Dispute Resolution and at times may take place in a heated environment. Please take a look at the relevant RFC page before responding and be sure that you are willing and able to enter that environment and contribute to making the discussion a calm and productive one focussed on the content issue at hand. See also Wikipedia:Requests for comment#Suggestions for responding.

Greetings! You have been randomly selected to receive an invitation to participate in the request for comment on Talk:Fanny White. Should you wish to respond to the invitation, your contribution to this discussion will be very much appreciated! However, please note that your input will carry no greater weight than anyone else's: remember that an RFC aims to reach a reasoned consensus position, and is not a vote. In support of that, your contribution should focus on thoughtful evaluation of the issues and available evidence, and provide further relevant evidence if possible.

OWIS-Math

Hi! I saw some of the changes you made to the OWIS-math page and am excited to keep working on it together! So, I saw a comment on AshLin's talk page, which recommended we move all the "articles to be removed" into a separate section, rather than just deleting them from the full list of articles. I created a section on the page for "Articles to be removed", so shall we just make it the norm to move the irrelevant articles into that section rather than deleting them from the list? Thanks again! Looking forward to interacting more! Jwild (talk) 19:14, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Thanks Jessie, indeed it simplifies things more. Will follow this now, Thanks! Lynch7 05:53, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Ra.One box office

Hi MikeLynch. Hope you're doing great. Just wanted to let you know about this current dispute where, in a nutshell, some comparatively new editors are insistent on using official data (which ain't preferable regarding box office numbers anywhere), but according to the general consensus on this article and others, BOI is used (as it's an independent, third-party source). You can read the discussion here and the previous consensus here. I could care less and ignore everything, but then again, what's fair and fair, and proper policies must be followed. I don't want to cross a 3RR. Thanks. Scieberking (talk) 21:51, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

Hi Scieberking, appreciate your efforts on the article. Let's iron out all the sticky points here. The previous discussions were small and non-inclusive (that's not your fault though). Start a new discussion, a proper one. Invite all major involved editors to it, even the ones currently in dissent. Notify other Wikiprojects like WT:IN and the Films Wikiproject. Have and encourage a healthy discussion, and do not encourage useless comments like "Duude, Eros press releases are always reliable". If there is no clear consensus, go for a WP:RFC. Hope this was helpful. Lynch7 06:26, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Hi MikeLynch. Your help is greatly appreciated, but let's face it, the articles related to Indian Cinema are increasingly surrounded by trolls, fanboys and newbies (of certainly not the good kind). I've decided to quit editing those articles for good after such type of funny dispute where all policies and guidelines were totally ignored, and I had to outthrow their faulty logic, which I successfully did (if you've read the discussion). What's funnier, I was still reverted by two different editors, who after inserting lame comments, warned me of calling the admins on me. Regards, Scieberking (talk) 11:50, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Need suggestion

Hi Mike, if you had visited the Ra.One talk, you would have come across new editors debating with experienced editors regarding the gross figure. I wish to start an RFC process regarding the dispute which is happening here. Can you please tell me how to do it and give your opinion? X.One SOS 09:35, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Yes, Scieberking had contacted me above regarding this :) . That's great, better not make the RfC not just about Ra.One, but about Indian movies in general, because then we won't have repetitive arguments in the future. Use this to start the RfC. Lynch7 09:43, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Of course, I don't really have an opinion right now, but I'll comment on the RfC after its started. Lynch7 09:44, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
Oops, I had missed that. But anyway, should I start it in Talk:Ra.One or Talk:Eros Labs or Talk:Bollywood? X.One SOS 10:17, 11 December 2011 (UTC)
I think this problem will not be limited to Ra.One or Eros. The Bollywood article is just an article about it, and is not any central place for Bollywood related discussions. I suggest you bring up the matter in WT:IN or in the Films WikiProject talk page, whichever you deem better. Lynch7 13:07, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Regarding Ra.one talk-page !! Please Re-instate my comments ASAP !!!

But how can you let all those derogatory comments against me be still here and delete mine ? Do you call all those comments against me related to the topic or civil ? Moreover , this conversation looks rather pointless without my comments . You should take notice that those comments have been far more abusive and off-topic than mine . So , i request you Lynch , to either put my comments back or delete the whole of the comments section that refers to my name again n again ....and that too with abusive comments against me

Seeta mayya (talk) 03:26, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

If others have written derogatory things, please delete them with caution. I did not read the whole post or the whole talk page. What is clear is that your post was derogatory, and that's that. Lynch7 12:48, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Civility

Hey I'm getting some ideas in mind that Seeta Maaya is an another account by Guru coolguy. The later was earlier involved in dispute in the same article. I doubt that such an account by Seeta Maaya with hardly few contributions know very well about talk pages and all. That seems impossible as far as my concern because it takes some time to learn about talk page and discussion pages. -- Karthik Nadar (talk) 14:25, 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Hmm, maybe. Place a WP:SPI to be sure. It probably does look quacky, but there's no reason really, for Guru coolguy to create another account and edit the same stuff, especially since there was no block involved. Lynch7 14:29, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Will have a look on that account, and then will place a WP:SPI. I btw will try to collect evidence. -- Karthik Nadar (talk) 14:49, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
It's not Guru, I think it's Ashermadan...May sound odd, but "she" called me by my real name, which isn't the one I am using from wiki (but using on twitter)...and Ashermadan is the only one from wiki that knows me on twitter...This is really turning fishy now...--Meryam90 (talk) 20:54, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
