Speedy deletion nomination of The Split Squad

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on The Split Squad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Split Squad, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Blondie. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Loading images to Commons

edit

Hi Michelle, I see that you've loaded a few images to Commons as being Public Domain, where all but 1 of them are the work of other people. When you load someone else's work, you need to provide proof that have released it under the license stated via an OTRS ticket. So, if you can confirm with the original photographer (not the person in the photo) that they want it released as PD, I can help you with the OTRS process. Robman94 (talk) 22:24, 2 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi that would be great if you would! I believe I have Mark's email address - I was present when that photo was taken, and met and chatted with him at length at Chris Stein's photo exhibit in early May. I'll start reading the page on OTRS. Thanks, Michelle PS I gave you a shout out for your help on The Split Squad's FB page.Michelle.Shinn (talk) 23:46, 2 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the shout-out, I just saw it, and thanks for spreading those refs out around the article, I was hoping you would do that. I met Clem myself when he played in Chicago with Glen Matlock and Hugh Cornwell, he's also a good friend of a friend of mine (Brad Elvis). I found Mark's email and have dropped him a line. I'm also concerned about the pic you loaded of Matt Katz-Bohen. We would need to get authorization from Ky, the actual photographer, in order to use it. My guess is that neither Matt nor Ky intended for these pics to be "public domain", they would probably prefer that they be licensed under a Creative Commons license, if indeed they are willing to release them at all. Many times people don't understand what it really takes for a photo to be used on Wikipedia. Generally it's easier if you just take the pics yourself, then you have complete authority to release them however you like. Before I go to a concert, I always check to see if the artist has a Wiki page and whether there's a photo on it, and if there isn't, I'll take a pic and load it. (Btw, if you enter 4 tildas at the end of your posts here, the system will sign your post for you) Robman94 (talk) 00:55, 3 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi Robman94 - it's cool that you know Mark. Thanks for writing him as well. Clem's a very nice fellow, always willing to go out and meet and greet. We've hung out together, he has accepted me into the fold, as it were, because I'm a close friend of Barry Kramer, who is acquainted with your friend Brad. I'll write Matt to get Ky's email to ensure I have it right. Thanks for the info! Best wishes. Michelle.Shinn (talk) 02:45, 3 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Ha ha, I don't know Mark, I just Google'd him and found his website. Clem hooked Brad up with his current "day job", when Clem quit the Romantics, when Blondie got back together, he recommended that Brad replace him. I just noticed that the Elvis Brothers page needs some work, so that's my next project/ :) Robman94 (talk) 04:23, 3 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
 There are so many, aren't there?  :-) More tomorrow! Michelle.Shinn (talk) 05:09, 3 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Social media websites

edit

Please stop adding social media (Facebook, Twitter) to Kathy Valentine. Doing so is against Wikipedia external linking policy, which requires that the official website be linked if there is one, and that social media sites not be linked if an official web presence exists. The subject chooses whether to advertise their social media sites on their Official Site. If they do, the reader can easily find them. If they don't, it's because they don't want to publicized them. Skyerise (talk) 18:02, 29 May 2015 (UTC) Sorry about that, I didn't know this. Thanks. Michelle.Shinn (talk) 18:14, 29 May 2015 (UTC)Reply
