Heroeswiki article edit

Hello... again, welcome to the project. I just wanted to mention to you that unfortunately the article you have under development - User:MiamiVolts/Heroes Wiki - most likely will not meet the notability requirements for a stand-alone article, and as such may end up getting deleted (in a worst-case scenario) or more probably merged and redirected to another existing article. As such, you may wish to discuss the article on the main Heroes page first, to find the best way of presenting the information. (This is not a reflection on the quality of your writing, or on HW itself. Generally speaking, I haven't seen a lot of Wikipedia articles that highlight a particular fan site or wiki, let alone having an entire article. The connection you've noted with NBC may support including some of the text in the main article, however.) Please feel free to ask if you have any questions about this. --Ckatzchatspy 19:39, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • I understand that notability of Fan websites is often questioned and plan to put it up for discussion and add a move tag after I finish writing the article so that debate can take place. My thoughts are that Heroes Wiki meets Wikipedia's requirements for notability based on its references in the news articles and the uniqueness of it being an independent wiki that has partnered with an American television network, NBC. Also of note, there are other articles for fan wikis connected to shows and movies such as Lostpedia, Wookieepedia, and Memory Alpha, and it seems those articles are listed mainly for the media coverage (Impact) alone. I think there is enough information to warrant giving Heroes Wiki an article of its own, and much of the information does not pertain to the Heroes TV article.--MiamiVolts (talk) 20:44, 4 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
    • WP:RM is not the place to have that discussion - see above - discuss instead at Talk:Heroes. WP:RM is only for articles that already exist, not for discussing new article creation. The only question addressed at WP:RM is where to move an article, not should the article be created (or deleted). 199.125.109.126 (talk) 12:43, 8 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
      • Thanks for fixing that. I did not know that based on what the help at WP:RM said, so I've asked about altering the help text on WP talk:RM to clarify that. I've also posted at Talk:Heroes per your suggestion. I had previously posted about it on the talk page of the Heroes project.--MiamiVolts (talk) 16:41, 8 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for File:HeroesWikiLogo.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:HeroesWikiLogo.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 09:27, 8 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned non-free media (File:HeroesWikiHome.jpg) edit

Thanks for uploading File:HeroesWikiHome.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:11, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • For now, I have linked the image to an article in my userspace. The article is intended to be moved to the mainspace before the deletion deadline.--MiamiVolts (talk) 06:44, 12 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hey edit

Nice to see you've made an account here. I'm afraid that I've become pretty lacklustre in keeping the Heroes pages here up-to-date; they've taken a backseat to my other focus. It's nice to know more of the big Heroeswiki editors are making accounts here! Therequiembellishere (talk) 03:38, 15 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • Hi! Thanks for the welcome here. If you have any tips for working on the Heroes project here, please let me know.--MiamiVolts (talk) 05:47, 15 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
    • I have an account here, too...but I find that my time is better spent at Heroes Wiki. Wikipedia is a great site and a great resource, but I could never quite get the hang of all the policies. It's pretty much the same reason I moved from a big school district to a small school district. :) - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 01:10, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
      • To start, here's the link. They've changed the layout a lot so I'm not sure how to add yourself as a member anymore but the links are really informative. Therequiembellishere (talk) 03:58, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
        • Ah, well I had already signed myself up. Thanks, though.--MiamiVolts (talk) 22:06, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
