Ducky (Saurolophus) edit

I reverted your non-admin close of this RFD because even though I did retarget, there was still discussion on whether or not the redirect should exist at all. Just letting you know. --UsaSatsui (talk) 03:46, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Barnstar edit

I was actually going to give you one a few weeks ago, and then forgot about it, so here it is now.

RE:WikiUpdate edit

Thanks :). I'm going to be recording the second half tomorrow; would you be interested in getting involved in the project as a contributor? Ironholds 21:38, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Excellent! Got any ideas for interviews/contributions? Ironholds 22:24, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Excellent ideas, and not ones i'd thought of. Which would you be interested in discussing? We also have a debate on Age and Adminship which we'll be covering; if you'd like to do a segment of that debate i'd be very grateful. Ironholds 22:40, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Great ideas. I hadn't thought of two interviewers; what are the advantages over one? Ironholds 22:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
2 it is then. My view is semi-deletionist, so that could work quite well. Do you see it working as a standard interview or a debate? The deletionist/inclusionist thing, that is. Ironholds 22:54, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm quite confused now; I thought you said 2 interviewers? Or was that for the age/adminship thing. Sounds like a good idea though; do you know any other deletionist/inclusionists? We could also generally do something on other WikiPhilosophies as a seperate segment/episode as well, with people of each opinion talking about their philosophy to a couple of interviewers per your idea. I think planning this sort of thing will get a lot easier after a few more episodes since we'll have a base pool of interviewee's/contributors of different philosophies/ages/whatever else we debate to pick from. Ironholds 23:04, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Again, good ideas. Now I can retire, safe in the knowledge that someone better is doing my idea work for little or no praise ;p. Standard episode format would be intro followed by X followed by general wiki-news (successful RfA's, failed RfA's, ongoing RfA's, any other news) where X is a debate/interview/broadcast. Do you think the WikiPhilosophy thing would be best done as an interview or a broadcast? A broadcast would be simpler than juggling several interviewee's, but no broadcaster is going to be familiar with all viewpoints. I'd advise picking up the next issue, btw; i'll be going through various changes to WUPDATE we're working on. Ironholds 23:17, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Skype for WikiUpdate edit

I have downloaded skype for WikiUpdate, and was wondering if you want to take place in a three way show. RedThunder 21:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

WikiUpdate edit

Starting a new section so it doesn't get too difficult to read. So we have:

  1. Age and Adminship; I now feel this would be best as an interview. We could get a user pro/against age making an impact and then two interviewee's with differing viewpoints; what's yours, out of interest? We could work this as a debate, alternatively, but the problem is that both sides seem to have strong opinions, and with one side going to be (relatively) young and possibly immature things could run out of hand
  2. Inclusionist/Deletionist: Debate, maybe 2 of each and a moderator. I'd like to work as either a deletionist rep or moderator, preferably moderator as I've got a mixed sort of viewpoint and dont feel I can really act as a full rep; i'd bring the side down, as it were.
  3. General WikiPhilosophy thing: Debate, but how would that work? pro's and con's of each one? Or we could split it up; interviews with people of different philosophies, one per episode.

The thing to remember, btw, is that WikiUpdate is nothing like Radio Wikipedia. It's run by the contributors, not the creator; if people think it's a good idea we'll run with it. So don't be scared to 1) suggest new things or 2) tell me/redthunder/any other contributor that our ideas are stupid. Ironholds 23:29, 6 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed on all counts. My view is fairly similar to yours. Age does affect maturity, yes, but judge it per user not as a general rule; you can't say all 12-15 year olds are immature any more than you can say all 18 year olds are therefore trustable as admins. So we'd need either 1) an older user who's anti-age-restrictions or 2) a young editor. I'd like to see if Ryan is available; young editor who's admin request was denied partially because of age, sparking off the whole debate. Inclusionist/Deletionist: Do you know anyone who might be interested? I'd be happy to act as moderator if you'd like to be one of the inclusionists, or you could act as moderator. Your idea, your baby. For the philosophy thing i'll start checking people out per userboxes and so on, but i'm thinking that debate would be best put quite a time away. The update schedule is being changed to Mon-Wed-Fri or equivalent to give us some time for padding and extra material (so we dont end up with yesterdays problem with me having to upload a tiny tiny segment designed for a later episode) which should give us some leeway. Ironholds 00:04, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Excellent; sorry to write so much. So to summarise; i'll find people for the philosophy interviews if you can find people for the inclusionist/deletionist debate. Would you like to act as moderator, inclusionist rep or what? Ironholds 00:23, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wonderful! i'm running out of synonyms. we're working on Friday's version at the moment, so if we could get the debate done for monday? Ironholds 00:27, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm actually out friday and saturday evening; whereabouts do you live? I.e what time zone. Evening for you might be afternoon or morning for me, or vice versa. Ironholds 00:46, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
I'm GMT (London) so i'm guessing you're 3 hours behind then. In that case a morning (your time) debate may be doable on friday/saturday if we can get someone in for that. Alternately tomorrow would work fine; i'm probably closer to your time zone than mine in terms of sleep patterns right now. I'm not sure we'd be able to get it organised that fast, though. Ironholds 00:52, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. I can do up to about 9AM your time, really; seeing the lady-friend in the afternoon and a birthday party in the evening. Do you have any ideas for interviewee's? Ryan sparked off the whole debate, but i'm sure he's sick of being linked to it by now. Ironholds 00:56, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
Speak soon then; i'll drop ryan a line and we can work out avenues of questioning and so on tomorrow. Do you have an email address or whatnot? It might be a bit more reliable for dropping messages off at; if I get 12 talk page messages I only get 1 alert, and I might miss some

age/adminship edit

Ryan had an interesting idea; he can't participate normally because he has no mic, but if we had a text-based interview and then simply got in person X to read ryans bit and convert it into audio do you think that'd work? Ironholds 23:06, 7 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cheers for your help with that vandal. Has now been blocked - having done a massive amount of vandalism, including accusing me of being a sockpuppet! I know I shouldn't let things get personal when I block someone, but I must admit, it did feel nice blocking that vandal.... (grin) StephenBuxton (talk) 14:52, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

New messages bar edit

Hello there. As you may have noticed, I've deleted User:Mastrchf91/Main/NewMessages. This is because our guideline on simulated interface messages in userpages states that this is generally found to be disruptive, and cases of their use should be removed except when they are used in testing. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me, however please do not re-add the bar. Thank you! Happy editing. Hersfold (t/a/c) 22:40, 26 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

FTC/GTC edit

Are you referring to the 4th season of The Office? Nergaal (talk) 02:43, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't care about if other people co-nom it/them. Anyway's, I had just submitted it a couple of mins ago so I did not have time to actually check for contributors. I usually add the list of major contributors once I see that the nominationa ctually has a decent chance of passing. Nergaal (talk) 02:47, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Considering the amount of words you used for your reply it means that you actually got angry. Geee, give me a sec to check the contributor histories and I will edit the noms accordingly. Nergaal (talk) 03:05, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Do Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/Seasons of The Office (US TV series) and Wikipedia:Featured topic candidates/The Office season 4 look right now? Nergaal (talk) 03:20, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Ok, but are the list of contributors that I added to the nominations ok? Nergaal (talk) 03:29, 12 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
