Welcome

edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. To find out more about how to make useful contributions, take a look at the welcome page. To stay in Wikipedia, an article has to be about something notable, that is, of general interest. Click on Notability for an explanation of what that means, and on Notability (music) for more detail on what it means for bands. Also, it must give independently verifiable sources. Articles that don't meet these requirements are deleted. Follow the links below to learn more:

  1. To find out more about creating articles, read the introduction, tutorial, and the guide to creating your first article.
  2. Do not write articles about yourself, your band, or your best friend - that's a conflict of interest.
  3. Wikipedia is not an advertising service.
  4. For experiments, please use the sandbox.

Notability of ANXIETY

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on ANXIETY, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because ANXIETY seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting ANXIETY, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. ANXIETY

edit

Hi Mark, and welcome to Wikipedia! I just received your email, so I thought I'd reply here instead of emailing you back. The reason I deleted the article is because it didn't make a very good assertion of the notability of the band. You can take a look at the notability guideline for bands to see what accomplishments make a band notable enough for inclusion. Temporarily, I've restored the article to User:Marktippin/ANXIETY, which is in your user space. You can edit it there and add the references that you referred to in the email. You may want to take a look at WP:YFA for some pointers on creating an article for the first time, as a lot of the text formatting in the article does not conform to Wikipedia's manual of style. Let me know if you have any other questions or when you're done editing the article so I can take a look at it with you. Cheers! Ioeth (talk contribs friendly) 21:52, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Managing a conflict of interest

edit

  Hello, Marktippin. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Aspening (talk) 00:16, 11 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Marktippin

edit

A tag has been placed on User:Marktippin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section U5 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to consist of writings, information, discussions, and/or activities not closely related to Wikipedia's goals. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
