Speedy deletion nomination of Liam Goligher edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Liam Goligher requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. I received this message back in June. I also received one from Anthony Bradbury. I understand why the deletion then. I was interrupted while creating the article. I have recreated the article and fleshed it out dramatically. I realize I may have made mistakes since this is my first such article. But the two notifications about speedy deletion keep coming up. I hope the article is not now considered for deletion. It has to do with the senior minister of an historic old church in Philadelphia PA USA. (Tenth Presbyterian) It this is rejected, he would be the only senior minister of that church without a Wiki page in more than 100 years. The church also has its own page. Also, he has been very visible in a huge debate among evangelical churches across the US in the last couple of years. Hardly an insignificant person in the North American North American evangelical world, as he was in the UK before going to the States. I am authorized by the organization which handles his materials to produce this article. One thing I am sure you will want to drop is the links to sites where his books can be purchased. I put them there mostly for you people, to verify that he did, in fact, write them.

Also, I am confused. When I first wrote the small bit deleted, it appeared immediately on Wikipedia. Now it is under a one month plus review. What changed before I wrote the second more complete article?

Citations edit

Hi, I noticed you added text to Draft:Liam Goligher which said:

For example, this very puzzling verse Psalm 110:3 only makes sense in context if taken from the Greek. This quote, taken from the transcript of a sermon preached January 15, 2017 called "Sitting in the Big Chair" clarifies much. The entire transcript can be accessed directly on the Tenth Presbyterian site at Sermon Audio.
"Simon Gathercole, who teaches at Cambridge University points out that verse 3 of Psalm 110 in the Greek translation reads like this, 'With you is the sovereign authority on the day of your power, in the midst of the bright splendors of the holy ones, from the womb, before the dawn bearing morning star appeared, I, the Lord, begot you, the Lord.'"

This is not what is meant by citations, you are just adding more information, which will need more citations. A citation must be inside <ref> </ref> tags. and you should provide a link to the audio if it being used as a citation (inside the ref tags). You should also avoid using too many examples, there is nothing wrong with what was written previously, focus on the citations. (and note that citations are the same thing as references).

I am not convinced about the alterations you made to the headers, but I will check the Manual of style to see if it can be accommodated. Dysklyver 14:34, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

Images edit

To add an image, it must be appropriated licensed, your own work, or out of copyright; and uploaded and available on Wikimedia Commons. You then add a link to the image on the page using the 'insert image' button. Dysklyver 15:02, 1 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

One exception on copyrights is HISTORICAL BUILDINGS. This church fits that category. It was completed in 1857 (150 YRS+) and is a registered historical landmark. Many walking tours OF historic Philadelphia go by there, because of the importance of the architect, who also designed the huge City Hall. I have two detail shots and want to get one of the facade. One of the detail ones shows the antique pulpit area, very appropriate for a minister.

The photo of Dr. G is more problematic. I work for the Alliance and I am sure they have photos of him to which they hold the copyrights. As for the photos I have, the church has copyrights to most of those and I can see what I can do. I know their graphic artist. Unfortunately, I can't just walk in and take a picture. I live 800 miles away!

I also need to check all THE REFERENCES. They are correct, but some slid off to where they don't belong, leaving a gap where they do belong. So let me check them all. I have read almost all that stuff and know what goes where and can do that quickly. Also, some are changing because one organization is reworking it computer system this week.

Did you put some stuff under Google SCHOLAR for me? If so, thanks. It will take time to review, but some looks really good.

Draft:Liam Goligher edit

You have seemingly ignored all advice regarding references posted at Draft:Liam Goligher and now you are writing more content which is not neutral in tone such as..."An important part of a minister's work is defending what he preaches" and "Dr. Goligher is no stranger to controversies requiring such a defense of the faith" and "Dr. Goligher inadvertently struck the match which ignited the Great Trinitarian Debate" I think you are possibly too connected to the subject to write objectively about it as is required for Wikipedia. Theroadislong (talk) 14:59, 3 November 2017 (UTC)Reply

As I responded elsewhere, we are up against a man who practices Christian humility to a fault. Hence he suppresses his name whenever possible. He has said so from the pulpit. My reviewer and I have talked about cutting it down to a stub of what can be verified. He is now so much in the limelight, that the situation will improve. I will do that early next week. I am not ignoring you, just I am so frustrated that such a prominent man is so little documented anywhere. I work for just one of the many organizations which publishes his work, but usually in oral formats. They were unaware of much of what I have learned about him by doing this research. I have never met him, but do hear him preach from time to time on the internet. He would be the only minister of this church without a Wiki page, except for one in the 1800s and one who was there very briefly. Moreover he towers over most of them both in his preaching and his quiet influence throughout the conservative Christian world. While that is objective reality, it is not documented. Too humble. Very weird in today's world. M-Lee-T (talk) 19:14, 4 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
