Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username indicates that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement.
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:03, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Requested username:

Request reason:

I was told my username violates your policies, so I am requesting to change it.

Decline reason:

Read the entire block notice above; the username is a minor part of the problem. --jpgordon𝄢𝄆𝄐𝄇 14:34, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

Good Afternoon - I have several issues I'm hoping to have addressed. I was told that my username violates policy, so I tried to change it and was denied. My other issue is that I am being accused of spam. However, all I was doing was creating a page for the first time, as I am a nationally syndicated writer. I was given feedback to include more independent sources, which I provided and resubmitted. I included major media outlets that have published my work. I was using this page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matthew_Kepnes) as an example and carefully crafted my sentences so that they were NOT advertorial or promotional. Rather than tell me that my sources were not accepted, someone blocked my username and my IP address. I don't understand why I am being treated as a spammer. I would like to appeal the block, change my username, and understand how to create pages that aren't considered spam. Again, I don't understand why I am being treated this way for merely trying to create my first page.

Accept reason:

Procedural accept; already unblocked. Yamla (talk) 20:39, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

You're unblocked. I suggest that before you do anything else, including uploads to Commons, you first go ahead with the namechange. DS (talk) 19:06, 27 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
