Hello, Leah... I don't have Internet access (only Wikipedia). I would really appreciate if you post that information here. It's a long story about my Internet access. One question, how does it cost a subscription to the Magazine? Can I subscript myself from Cuba?? Miss Bono (zootalk) 17:02, 4 June 2013 (UTC)
I am a resident here in Cuba, and I talk a little bit of Portuguese, just a tiny bit, Check my User Info box for more details with languages. Did you say scolarships? Wao, that would be awesome... unfortunately, no one have told me anything about it. We have cafe but they're expensvise too, 10 bucks an hour, and it is slow. I can talk about the beaches or something but not politics. So they pay scolarships for wikipedia editors?? I am already translating two articles from en.wikipedia to es.wikipedia. saludos. Barnstars
Hi Leah... sorry I've been in another country and haven't been wp'ing... not sure what's going on with the barnstars (I'm not seeing any of them) but I'll have a look tomorrow. Too tired right now. Catfish Jim and the soapdish 00:11, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
- Remind me Leah, did you have them next to the fairy icon, or just in the drop down box? Catfish Jim and the soapdish 06:40, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
As for the drop down box, it's easy to edit and uses standard wiki markup language:
Click on the "edit source" button.
Scroll down to where it says <!-- Collapsible user boxes: Barnstars -->
Ignore the bit that says:

<div class="NavFrame collapsed" style="padding: 0; border-style: none;">
<div class="NavFrame collapsed" style="border-style: none; padding: 0;">
<div class="NavHead" style="background: #BFE5FF; text-align: left; text-style: normal;">
Awards</div><div class="NavContent" style="">
That simply defines the drop down box background appearance.
Each barnstar is defined by a bit that says something like:
The tag after the date tells the software that you've finished defining the userbox... time to move on to the next.
Place new barnstars at the bottom of the list, just above
<!-- Put new barnstars above this line -->
</div></div></div>
boxboxbottom
(Which tells the software that the barnstars box is finished) Catfish Jim and the soapdish 08:50, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
Leah, I've already put the barnstar from Moxy in there... As a bit of practice copy the following and paste it into the bit I mentioned above (it's a real barnstar)

Help Project newsletter : Issue 7
The Help Project Newsletter
Issue VII - August 2013
Hello from Hong Kong, and the Wikimania DevCamp! Just a quick bulletin to update everyone on recent goings-on:
- There was a Wikimedia blog post about our experience at the Open Help Conference.
- Based on discussions at the Open Help Conference, Seeeko, Ocaasi and the wub have drafted a series of guidelines for writing and improving help pages.
- There is now also a system in place for assessing help pages by quality and importance. See Wikipedia:Help Project/Assessment for more details and the two scales we are using.
- A project collaboration has been started, the first one is focusing on the above mentioned Assessment. Discussions about this are welcome at Wikipedia talk:Help Project#Current collaboration (and the next).
- Wikipedia:New contributors' help page/questions was merged into Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions
- A couple of other mergers have been proposed:
- Help:Introduction to talk pages and Help:Introduction to policies and guidelines have both been overhauled and updated to use the new tutorial design.
Suggestions for future issues are welcome at Wikipedia:Help Project/Newsletter.
If you don't wish to receive this newsletter on your talk page in future then just edit the participants page and add "no newsletter" next to your name.
Hello!

Re: Once again, help!!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mcdavidphoto/3369410322
I tried uploading it too, and probably got the same message you did: "There is another file already on the site with the same content."
I almost gave up there, and was about to recommend you go to commons:Commons:Upload help.
But I clicked on "another file" in that message, and got a popup message that said "Duplicate file", and with a link to here:
So it looks like you succeeded! It looks like it took a couple days for the bot to review it: "It was reviewed on 16 August 2013 by the FlickreviewR robot and was confirmed to be licensed under the terms of the cc-by-sa-2.0." --Timeshifter (talk) 16:20, 16 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hey, glad to help! I am just a wiki-slacker at heart. When you want to get a job done give it to a slacker! Because they want to do as little as possible to get it done. Speaking of which I will remember your offer. :) ~~ --Timeshifter (talk) 12:24, 17 August 2013 (UTC)

Postmark predating 1977 and Spotted Horse
Postmarks and stamps pre dating 1977 are NOT under copyright restrictions that are indeed imposed on stamps AFTER 1977. I can upload the image IF it predates that. It does, so please, dont edit Spotted Horse, Wyoming in the fashion you did because its wrongCoal town guy (talk) 20:21, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

Title 17 of the United States Code (source : en:United States Postal Service) :Coal town guy (talk) 20:25, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- While this may be true, it only applies to photos taken in the United States, and only then, if nobody can be found to claim copyright. Trust me, I wish it were different; there are several postage stamps celebrating musicians that were not accepted in Commons. Please do not assume ignorance on another editor's choices. Why take the chance? In addition when I began editing here, the infoboxes had little flag icons to show the origin of the musicians' biographical articles. It was decided that per WP:FLAG that they would no longer be permitted. While that is different from actual photos placed on a page showing a photo that is nearly the same size as an actual postage stamp, does the article really benefit so much from the photo of the stamp? Is it worth the undoing of all the other work on the same article? I'd think not. Although I specialize in images and biographies, it seemed not to really upgrade the photo, while leaving it open to possible future problems, so I removed it. This isn't a personal attack on anyone; it is a protective gesture. Revert my work if you feel so strongly about it, but I think the article's talk page is more appropriate than my talk page over this issue. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 20:53, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- NO IT DOES NOT. The law is rather clear and there are thousands of images on Wiki like this. If the stamp predates 1977, per THE LAW and PER WIKI RULES, IT IS NOT COPYRIGHTCoal town guy (talk) 20:55, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- I provided the US LAW year and section on the talk page and I like yourself have worked through all of the rules and by laws concerning the use of a pre 1977 image for a US Stamp. The article benefits because its a small town with a population of 2, hence the postmark provides the veracity that it was at one time a place that had more than 2 people who lived there.Coal town guy (talk) 21:04, 27 August 2013 (UTC)

I owe you an apology
I must say I am sorry for the tone of my initial edits. My first edits on Wikipedia were OK, but at one point, as you may have guessed. I was told that am image I provided violated copyright. I was also told, by that editor in question that they had no obligation to tell me why. That left a sour taste for me and hence I was reacting to that incident, not you. I had no right to react in such a fashion. Please accept my sincere apology.
I took another look to be certain. IF the image is of an artwork or artist, or a reproduction of an artwork from a known artist, I would indeed be violating a copyright. However, in this specific instance, no, I am not.Coal town guy (talk) 22:30, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Re: I am sorry
Ms. Bono, I strongly think that you should visit the 5 principles that guide our editing. To believe that there might be "a lot of free images" in ANY website is incorrect. It's the essence of copyright violation, without the creator's permission. You must ask the photographers if they took the photos first! Those who do require permission to use them. Period. On You Tube, you see violations everywhere. The Wikipedia can not bear lawsuits. Those photos are the hard work, and bread and butter of the photographers. It's hard enough to get into most concerts with good seats, & permission to take photos. Then there's the expense of camera equipment, travel expenses to take posed publicity photos, etc. For many artists and photographers, it's it's a full time job. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Sister, I mean this with kindness, but all this chat does not develop articles. Try working on a small one, with other editors first before tackling Bono. I must ask- why his article? What is so important in getting a long, involved article done? --Leahtwosaints (talk) 03:45, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Look, Leah. I read the 5 rules when I came in. Sorry for asking you for pictures, didn't mean to bother. If I'd live in another country with full Internet access and not just Wikipedia see this article, I'd spent the whole day improving articles. I mostly use talk pages to ask for advice or for information. , the part that says: Miss Bono. Ok, I'll retire as soon as possible, I don't want to be a pain in the a*** and don't want to break the rules. So I am leaving.
- As for Bono, we were looking to take the 4 members to a GA and then to an FA-Class. But now I am leaving and I don't know what would be of the project. Miss Bono [zootalk] 12:32, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Please reconsider, Miss Bono. I hope you don't stop working on Wikipedia in whatever capacity that your internet access allows. Liz Read! Talk! 17:13, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Chica, all that I say to you is said in kindness. I just now noticed your reply here. First, you were not a "bother". I admire your enthusiasm and devotion. I had to ask myself, though, how you would be able to cite facts if you can not even click on sources provided for you if you are limited to the Wikipedia- or even use Commons? This is partly the reason I suggested that you work on other articles, until you get used to it, or finally get access to the rest of the web. The 5 rules are essential. It's important to review them time to time, that's all. I really spoke from the heart. It would be best to help work on articles than to spend your precious time than to remain confined on talk pages. --Leahtwosaints (talk) 18:58, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
