Conflict of interest policy edit

Hello, Ksylvester. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you have an external relationship with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies. Note that Wikipedia's terms of use require disclosure of your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you. --Ronz (talk) 20:01, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Can you straighten out all the renaming and reorganizations related to Intelius edit

I'm going to assume you'll declare your conflict of interest and contribute to Wikipedia as an employee of Intelius. My apologies if my assumption is wrong.

If you look on the Talk:Intelius page, you'll see that I've been trying to figure out and properly present the state of the corporation over the years. It appears that Intelius became an incubator of sorts, successful divisions spinning off into independent businesses and unsuccessful ones fading away. In the process Intelius was renamed inome, and the Intelius name was given to the public records division. That at least is the best I can make out from he very scarce press.

You should also be aware that Intelius and related articles have regularly been edited in a manner that violates out conflict of interest policy, and that policy has been substantially strengthened over the years to prevent such problems. Because of that, moving the article as you did probably shouldn't have happened in the manner it did. --Ronz (talk) 20:01, 9 July 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the response. I suggest placing a short disclosure on your user page .
I think you're doing fine with your edits so far, but take some time to review WP:COI.
Can you help shed some light on my comments above regarding Intelius/inome and what's now called Intelius? --Ronz (talk) 19:07, 10 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
Can you please confirm what we've concluded from the poor coverage of the company? It appears inome started doing business again as Intelius sometime last year, and that reports of inome and Intelius being separate companies are incorrect. --Ronz (talk) 15:51, 14 July 2015 (UTC)Reply
