Pushpin maps

edit

I notice that you've been adding pushpin maps to a lot of articles. You might care to visit Template:Infobox Australian place/Blank to see the correct field layout and a list of available fields for the template. You'll see that "|pushpin_label_position=" may be used to place the label more appropriately, to prevent situations where the label extends outside of the image, or even the infobox, such as was the case at Smiths Lake, New South Wales.[2] Cheers. --AussieLegend (talk) 18:30, 17 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Tooraweenah, New South Wales

edit

Thank you for adding coordinates to the infobox of this article. I notice that you used the {{Coord}} type "town". This type is not one of the eighteen defined in the documentation for {{Coord}}. I've gone and changed it to "city", which is the appropriate Coord type for human settlements of all sorts. Apart from that little nit, you seem to be doing fine work--keep it up! NSW towns

edit

Hi! Good work on tidying up the articles on NSW towns. I just have a few points that you may wish to consider, however. This edit here makes some changes that I don't think are improvements.

  • Firstly, the phrase "... had a population of 213 people" has a unnecessary redundancy. Using "population" and "people" in the same sentence is not needed, the word "people" can be left off the sentence without it losing any meaning.
  • Secondly, the idea of having a separate "pop_footnotes" section in the infobox is that the "pop" field is then left to contain only a number, i.e. the population and nothing else. This allows for sorting by population etc. using software tools etc. If you wish to add (2006 Census) in the infobox, it should be in the "pop_footnotes" field, immediately in front of the reference.
  • Thirdly, and this is only my personal preference, I would leave the actual population reference template outside the infobox. Putting the actual reference template inside the infobox puts a template inside another template and makes it messy for others to edit in future, in my opinion. Missing a curly bracket in the reference template will mean the whole infobox will be killed.

Again, well done with your work to date. Cheers, Mattinbgn\talk 10:32, 9 February 2010 (UTC)Reply

SE Qld

edit

Hello, we need some more localised maps for this area. I will suggest them shortly, w/out the capability of actually creating them, but someone should be able to manage. So using the Qld map is, hopefully, a waste of time. Cheers Crusoe8181 (talk) 10:34, 20 June 2011 (UTC)Reply

Oombulgurri population

edit

Hi Joseph, thanks for adding the census data to Oombulgurri Community, Western Australia. However I've partially undone that edit because it's almost a ghost town now (see the article). Graham87 05:58, 23 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
