Shavuot and Pentecost

Jon, you are of course perfectly right about Shavuot, but rereading closely you'll find that my correction referred not to it but the Christian feast of Pentecost, which, being the fiftieth day after Easter Sunday, does indeed always fall on a Monday. Commemorating it on the Sunday before began in those countries where the Monday is not a public holiday, but even in Germany, where it is, the fact tends to become forgotten and the day treated like a public holiday after the feast day, as Boxing Day and Easter Monday are. This does not really need to be part of an article about a Jewish feast, but if mentioned at all, it should at least be described correctly. Wal-Mart (disambiguation)

All through this process, there may be others who are for or against this article based on what they have read others wite about. At the same time, a single user, Derek Cashman, seems determined to kill a Wal-Mart disambiguation page out, perhaps out of a personal distaste for one. He just says he is firm and will not budge on it otherwise. Wikipedians are supposed to improve, NOT destroy Wikipedia. A Wikipedia page is only supposed to be deleted only if it is not notable or otherwise seriously inappropriate. Idea for Talmud articles

Hi Jon513: I am reposting the following request from User Sh76us (talk · contribs) on my user talk page for wider notification:

I was thinking of trying to stimulate development of a series of articles on Gemara concepts and doctrines, maybe to help children or newcomers to Gemara with explanations of some fundamental concepts that recur throughout the Gemara. Some examples might be articles on Yiush, Chazakah, Ta'aninun (as in "Ta'aninun L'Yoresh"), Eidim Zomemin (forgive my awful transliterations), Migu, etc., etc. Maybe we could even create a category or subcategory for it. I created Breira in this vein. As I don't have the experience or expertise in Wikipedia to know what to do to best develop this idea, I figured I'd come to you for your opinions on: (1) whether it's a good idea; and (2) How to best go about implementing it. Adding bad sources it not exactly vandalism and I don't think it is worth getting into a dispute on an article which is nominated for deletion. Your removal of sources (even bad sources) may be viewed as a bad faith attempt to sabotage an article you nominated for deletion. Jewish Mythology

This is supposedly an article for project Judaism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jewish_mythology It seems to be a collection of half a dozen people saying what they believe Jews believe. I have no idea what to make of it. Some of what they say Jews believe, is most certainly of Christian origin. Any chance this can be deleted or cleaned up or something? I have to go vomit. Hi, I wasn't sure what was going on there. Was doing some new page patrolling and came across those two editors. The articles they were creating didn't look notable, and some seemed to be spam. It also turns out they were copyvios too. There is a possibility that there is sockpuppetry going on, which I have reported. Thanks for letting me know. My perspective was that the same AFD applied because the film still has not been produced all this time. The IMDb page even says it's merely "Announced". I suppose a fresh AFD would be best here, citing the notability guidelines for future films (which wasn't around back then). If I start a new AFD, do I rename it with (second nomination) at the end? Sources and notability added

Hi Jon513: Shavua Tov: I have spent some time improving the two articles currently up for deletion. The Adas Israel Congregation and Adath Jeshurun Congregation articles, now renamed Adas Israel Congregation (Duluth) and Adath Jeshurun Congregation (Minnetonka) to differentiate them from other similar sounding congregations elsewhere, are now a full articles. They meet all criteria for such articles. I also wish to point out that this is proof of what can and should be done to improve stubs. Merely because someone has started a stub does not mean that the article of a place/person/event are "not notable" since not all people have the time and capability of working to improve such articles. There is no statute of limitations on how long a stub deemed to be significant can exist and it is certainly no reason to invoke reasons to eliminate them, otherwise why do we have stubs in the first place? No one is winning or losing; we are all interested in making a better encyclopedia.

Because of the open nature of Wikipedia sources are an absolute necessity for many articles. If an article has no sources it is a strong sign that it is not notable, and there is no way to resolve inevitable disputes that will arise about the article. I know that you think it is "obvious that he is an internet star", but the term "internet star" is very hard to define. If wikipedia had an article for anyone who might be an "internet star" it would quickly become impossible to manage.

I recommend that you read Wikipedia:Notability (web) to understand wikipedia's policy on these issues. Jon513 (talk) 10:33, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

Tex Bronson post

I am Kyle Vickers, president of the Atlanta-based company Adrenaline Pulse Entertainment. I just recently added the post of Tex Bronson who is the main character of our new film in production called Mummies of the Third Reich. The character of Tex Bronson is played by famous american drummer, Kerry Denton, who has been in such mainstream bands as Mother's Finest. Also, minor characters in the film are played by such members of Skid Row and those of Green Jelly. The script itself and the film in production has become a phenomenon in Atlanta with not only the independent film community but with various professional visual effects artists and set designers that have worked on numerous Hollywood films. The film is also in a contract to be shown on ComCast. The fact that this film is a hoax or not notable is ridiculus considering that this is an internet encyclopedia noting real topics across the world. This is a real noteworthy topic that obviously is worth something considering it's budget over $100,000 and that it will be exclusively premiered at the 3rd annual Atlanta Horror-Fest. I would like to understand the importance of deleting my post. I understand getting rid of people trying to put themselves or pointless topics on Wikipedia, but as and encyclopedia and a source or information, it is important that such things as a main character from a film being released at the southeast's largest independent film festival and on ComCast should hold some merit. As you stated on your page "we need to focus more on the mission of producing a high quality encyclopedia". By censoring information that is pertinent due to various factors including the fact that this fictional character is being played by a well-known mainstream musician, is not by your words "producing a high quality encyclopedia". This suject post is intended to provide additional information to those that wish to seek more on the topic and I believe that is the purpose of this website. If you have any authority on this site then reconsider what it is you are doing and stop this nonsense. Also, I was even sent a message saying that someone was concerned about my username and that it might be promotional. Its the same username I use for everything and even my email. Re:deletion of test talk pages

Thanks for making it more clear. I knew that the General CSD criteria applies to all namespaces. As you correctly judged my point was that deleting a talk page of an existing article doesn't make sense, so that's why I removed the CSD tag. Archiving talk pages of Redirect pages (reply )

I merged Star Wars prequel trilogy and Star Wars original trilogy into Star Wars (film series). so i archived the talk page on the prequel trilogy and put on the new page, since i think no one really goes on the redirect talk pages so i thought it'd be better if it linked from the new page. and since i moved the page to archive there was no point of having the redirect talk page. Can you give an official warning to him as admin? His user page is offensive and he declared that he "will" edit articles about Korean pedophiles whom I personally know because he feel that it is unfair that the crimes by English teacher with foreign nationality are exposed in newspaper. Hello, you declined speedy deletion per CSD:A1 (missing context) for Herzog College. I am sincerily looking at the article over and over but I don't see the context. Im not trying to bug you about it but I really want to understand the reasoning in article deletion. My reason for reporting it for CSD:A1 is that it's a one-line article with nothing in that line besides the fact that Herzog College is adjacent to Yeshivat Har Etzion. With a quick look over of the cleanup you did on the article shomer I reverted it as per the note on the talk page there, but after going back and adding back some of the changes you made I think I probably could have left it as it was and just made a few touch-ups, so I apologize thought I hope as it is now is more satisfactory for the clarifications you were trying to achieve.
